Yeah I just tried him again with superior equipment than I had last week. AND stocked up on combining potions etc. Destroyed. That guy is SO CHEAP. Seriously, if you beat him, you beat a cheater. 90% of people who fight him wont have ear plugs so he gets free hits on you if you're near him when he roars (which is most of the time). And he can hit you consecutively since his hits can also stun you (instant death). Also his runs are incredibly cheap and his most powerful move. EVEN if he misses, the bastard will SLIDE on the wall AFTER the run (in run animation) and get to you. And I haven't even mention his hit box. I can barely hit him but if he bumps me with the edge of his arm, I fall over. Or if I'm slightly out of range for his attacks, he'll still manage to hit me. I'm completely stuck. Even with better equips I still can't win. I have a health bar maxed to 150 and he can kill me in 3 hits. My health is never full obviously from his "nudges", he cheap runs me once, i'm stunned, claws me, I die. That's ALL 150 of my health in just a few seconds. You can't even use potions (no matter how many you have) because his runs are so cheap, he can run 2-4 times in a row with his "wall run" in case he misses you. He also has a long range wide attack btw which helps him out more, in case he didn't need anymore cheap skills.
I think I eased into Tiggy with a Lance or Gunlance. Get a good defensive set. I wanna say D. Hermitaur was decent but can't recall exactly. Bring a couple steaks and poke him from behind your shield. That way you can also block the damage roar.
Thanks for the tips. Problem with me is that I've tried to master the LS so much I'm terrible with most other weapons. And I enjoy mobility in MH. I don't think I'd be a good fit for esp the slower weapons. However good news. FINALLY beat you know who! I did some "mildly" cheap things but it was still difficult. I was afraid the tranqs weren't working since it took a while for "objective complete" to appear. Tranqs are amazing for big bosses = more items, less fighting. Just need the materials and the right timing. Btw, he gave me A LOT of nice tigrex items so I'm thankful. However I'm 1 fang short from my full tigrex set.. bleh. Anyhow, I don't think I'll ever solo him again until I'm at least another rank up in armor and weapons.
Kirin thunder tail is a little hard to get because Kirin doesn't have breakable parts, you can gather the thunderbug juice in the tower by killing the thunderbugs
Strange that you call your character Mikasa and try to make her as close as possible to the AoT char, yet no duals!! I'll try the Tigrex again tomorrow. That bastard is going down!
Thanks for the comments and tips guys! Looks like I may be stuck with the Eager Cleaver for a while now.. Haha yeah. To be honest I did go dual first when I picked my weapon (and I loved them). But their maintenance and experience needed was so high I gave up on them. Maybe one day when I become a MH expert I will swap. At least LS = katana = Japanese = Mikasa. Sort of..
I used to think the lance was very cumbersome too. Surprisingly once you master the back hop it becomes insanely mobile. It just gets crazier with the evasion gems. Give it a try on lower levels and try Tigrex again. He becomes very easy. You guys will all have fun with Nargacuga.
What's the earliest armor with evasion boosts? I'd like to try it but I don't have any armor with that skill.
Shinobi sets (there are 2) and Obituary (male)/Butterfly (female) set. Congrats on taking on Tigrex solo!
He's still easier than tigrex. Tigrex doesnt give you a lot of options to hit him safely... Narga does.
You're in luck coz transitioning from LS to DS isnt that bad coz out of all the weapon types, the DS has the most similarities in playstyle to LS. The only difference is the reach to the sides, which allows LS to attack at more flexible angles.
I now have the tigrex urgent. Wish me luck! Hopefully I bash him in one go. Should I bring armor seeds and all that? I'm more of a 'core' player that doesn't rely on buffs, but I can make exceptions if need be.
Okay, still doing the beginners weapon quests, have a few questions. When I complete a quest, I'm given 3 options: Reward, Item Box (or was it item case?) and end. Could someone explain the result of these 3 options to me? Reward confused me because it said select reward then move to item box? Or something like that, I can't remember. I've only done one mission.
Reward is receiving them into your inventory, item box is to send the item into your stash inside your home (which is the same box you can find in the farm, guild hall and kitchen), and end is to sell whatever stuff you didnt take.
