So quick question, how do you actually beat Monster hunter? Is there a final quest like any other RPG? I've only played about 10 minutes of monster hunter freedom 2 on a friend's way back when. Hard to believe that was 7 years ago. I've found sources that say the main story is 89.5 hours, but "plus extras" it's 230.5 hours, then for completionists is 417.5 hours. Someone please explain what those mean? Is plus extras just doing the main story with some side quests? That's what I'm assuming. Then completionist would be doing every side quest. Okay, I think I answered my own question haha. Not sure why you guys would know either, shoulda asked that part on the site I found it on. But my first question still stands.
ok .. im sorry.. but on the next day the score is in the media.. but sorry again.. And yeah the second half was worth watching !! Deutschlaaaaaand !
There is no story, but there is a backstory of living life as a hunter. Once you complete main urgent missions, you unlock specific videos on your gallery, where one of the last is a credits video. Completionists will not take the game 400 hours. It will take over 2000, unless you are consulting guides left and right. The game moves forward at your own pace really, so it doesnt have a completion time. That's average to all hunters. I got to g-rank in the first 4 days of playing, doesnt mean i completed it, since the first credits are only unlocked upon defeating akantor in the elder quests.
Completing every unlock and defeating each monster at least 100 times each (50 for elder dragons) coz that would mean unlocking all guild card titles.
I guess you can defeat each of the boss monster in the game, in each of their locations, both at the guild, the elder, and the training missions at least once. That would unlock all videos. Which include the 2 credits videos.
That seems to be what I'm looking for How many hours would this take? A bajillion? Half a bajillion? I'm sure not that long, considering you need to kill them all 50 times to get those guild card things like you said
If you're new to the series i'd say about 300-400 hours. Took me about 100 hours, but that's just an estimate as i didnt really take note.
Monster Hunter is not like other RPGs, it is the archetype of the "hunting" game. There is barely any story or plot and the game doesn't mark out "required" quests. There is no real ending and the only cutscenes are introduction videos for each area and monster. Each rank you have a bunch of different quests and you just complete them until you get an urgent quest which you beat to move up a rank. Don't expect to just hunt one of each monster and be done with it, you can only get new and better gear by crafting it from materials and you get the materials from hunting monsters. You'll be repeating quests many times to hunt the monsters you need the materials for. The "village" or "elder" quests in each game is what might be considered the main story since quests are given out by an NPC with flavour text, but if you only do these you're missing out on most of the game. The "guild" quests are similar but harder and without context, but it's through these that you get to the highest rank (G rank) and fight monsters and get gear exclusive to this rank. Like something like Animal Crossing, you never really "beat" Monster Hunter. I would define beating Monster Hunter to be at least completing every quest and hunting 1 of each monster. As an example, I've spent over 500 hours on MH3U for the 3DS (and that's with me ignoring half the village quests and going straight to G rank) and I'm not even done yet. The majority of that playtime is farming monsters to get the materials for things I want to make. This isn't a game you can speedrun, and I can't even begin to imagine how long a completionist would take on any of these games. So why would you spend so much time just hunting the same monsters over and over again? Well, the combat is really good, trying different weapon types is a completely different experience, armor skills can dramatically change how you play and there are around 80 different sorts of monsters in each game. It's a niche thing sure, but when you get hooked on Monster Hunter you get hooked hard.
What's worse than waiting for a cowardly shogun to stop using water gun from the ceiling? Waiting for a cowardly shogun with a bloody shell on it's back (can't use water gun) to stop having a stroll on the roof Lol at least I now have a full set of shogun armor minus the gauntlets. What do you need for the gauntlets anyway? It's not on the list for me. === One of the main reasons I'm sad that I can't do multiplayer is that I can't get the materials you get from smashing monster parts because I'm bad at using a hammer. === I thought the hunting horns' music playing would be like a flute, but no, it's a weird interpretive dance.
Just had to laugh. I was trying to kill one of those flying bugs as it was just annoying me, I'm armed with a LS and it took me 24 slashes with the weapon to hit the damn bug, plus 6-7-8 before I even started counting.
