To some extent it is a bit easier for a few reasons. There are no small monsters to bother you. Sometimes there's a bug or something, but generally 2-ofs in a single missions means there's less annoyance. Each monster has approximately 60% to 70% health only, so fighting each one wont take as long as hunting a single monster. You only have to do it twice, like you went into 2 consecutive missions without replenishing much consumables. Take into consideration the lack of smaller monster, and it is easier. In the end, you get more chances of getting the rare monster materials. The only downside to fighting 2, is when they are both in one location. But there's a solution to that, and it is throwing poop at one of them so the other flees the area.
I did with a GS. took me over 30 minutes but killed him just for sport coz i already know it wasnt necessary. This was back in the jp version btw
Personally as a bow user re felyne companions, i focus on defense and the flute skill as it gets the monster's attention from me and can act as a tank
There's a tigrex guide in the wiki iirc and it tells you about its moves and attack patterns and behavior. That's how i took him down, well after more than a couple of quest failed messages
I think i've wrapped my head around how much this game has to offer. I got my farm built up. I've got my kitchen going. I can hire comrades to fight with me. I got the solo training school open. I'm doing treasure quests, event quests, solo guild, and solo granny quests. I'm crafting armor. And of course, multiplayer matches. I am learning all the nuances in the game, learning different weapons. It looks like i'll be spending more time on this game than any iOS game i've ever played, and i've played hundreds. Other games, I play until i've had my fill. This game I play until I have to sleep, eat, or go to work. Best $15 ever spent on the app store.
It's funny going through this thread and seeing all the people new to MH crying about how hard it is. MH vet here, I'm astonished how well the game runs on my old iphone 4s. Touchscreen controls work better than I expected, the auto lock-on actually makes the camera controls better than the original on psp. Even then, the amount of mobile games I've played makes swiping the screen to control the camera second nature. My only gripe as someone who's spent literally hundreds of hours with the gunlance on MH3U, I find the touch controls a little finnicky when it comes to my usual strategy of comboing into guard stance, mainly because guard-pokes and shelling is done by sliding the buttons. I've taken hits when I end up accidentally guard-poking one time too many. Not to worry though, now I just grab a longsword, gem in evasion and go back to dodging everything. Little tidbit for old fans of MHFU: everything from the original game is here, including the cut Japan-only downloadable quest items. You have to add the event tickets to your inventory through hacking just like on PSP though. Here's some screenshots of someone on the mobile version wearing the devil blos equipment.
Any reason why earth crystals early game are impossible to find? I've needed two for the longest time and neither the mine nodes in snow mountain or my farm want to bless me with any.
Lol, I've said it before and will say it again: all people, who played Demon Souls / Dark Souls / Dark Souls 2, really appreciate how easy Monster Hunter games are. You're also right with the context buttons. A slip while fighting a Congalala can mean 1 move too much, and this is dangerous when he's about to belly slam you. On the other hand: the controls work very well and the cam control is far better than on console. I don't miss the cramps is my fingers when I needed to make "the claw" to operate the control stick.
Four hours and exactly 22 attempts and.. Finally I killed the damn thing! That's the first urgent mission done.. Phew, hard work
