Those have okay descriptions, but the small cartoon image wasn't detailed enough for me. I had to use the MH Wiki I think.
Thanks - it's good that someone already made a GameFAQ.. Apparently, there's a "Pacifist" Felyne that does not ever attack and you can teach it only buffing skills. Just discovered I picked bad starter Felyne warriors, wish I read this GameFaq before buying my first ones!
I'm pretty sure I've seen some videos of a felyne soloing monsters (with the player only playing the hunting horn). So you can make them somewhat viable fighters. But they will never come close to a human player. Biggest downside of raising Atk though: The cute cat paw on a stick thing mine is currently rocking would be replaced with a hammer... If I wanted to go for a fighting felyne, I'd probably focus on status attacks instead of raw power. Abnormal Status Up, Status Atk Paralysis, Status Atk Sleep skills. Basically, if the amount of damage a cat can do more if I focus on damage makes the difference, then I have bigger problems that have nothing to do with my cat, so why start with the cat... Personally, I prefer utility. You can give it [True] Health Flute if you use a lot of potions. I like the Antidote Flute skill, because I tend to forget about those until 5 seconds into the hunt. Clairvoyance can be useful too, and there's a skill that'll make your felyne place a shock trap every once in a while (kind of rarely though, it's mostly a "hey the cat did something useful" kind of situation every few quests, mixed with "why did you put it there" moments). If you don't have another source of Attack Up, there's Demon Flute that'll make it give you AUS. Earplugs are also useful, even though they only affect the cat and not you: Often the monster will go for the cat first after a roar, and it can also hit you to get you out of the animation faster. My felyne has an "aims small" personality, which means she'll prefer to attack small monsters. This is useful when I'm too lazy to deal with them myself when I'm gathering. This personality also uses bombs, which act like sonic bombs on monsters that are susceptible to those, which is also nice. However, felynes that can use bombs will definitely blow you up, too Btw. if you want a cat but don't want it to get in the way, you can get one with a "peace loving" personality. Those won't attack. But a felyne that occasionally messes everything up will prepare you much better for online multiplayer
Things in monster hunter that make me swear: 1. Trying to fight a boss monster and a minion monster attacks me. Congas and the 'preys in particular. 2. Trying to carve/gather and either a conga or bullfango charge me. 3. Trying to access the inventory box on the farm and the stupid felyne talks to me for several text boxes. 4. Trying to mine on the farm and the idiot felyne talks to me for several text boxes. 5. Trying to gather bugs on the farm and the retard felyne talks to me for several text boxes. 6. Trying to access either the left or middle plant row on the farm and the bloody felyne tells me that I need to collect the herbs, which is what I'm trying to do, but it won't let me because it and all the other felynes are less than a meter away from their work stations, forcing me to either talk to them or slow-walk in circles until I can safely avoid socialising. If I wanted to socialise I wouldn't talk to a cat, so leave me alone, you helpful bastards. === Anyone else have anything to add to the list?
I think the difficulty curve just went vertical. I've done all the one star quests and I'm on the urgent quest now and oh my.. It's really not good. I've tried it 5-6 times so far and I'm struggling a lot, there's so many little enemies that it's hard just to focus on the boss and I'm spending 80% of my time just trying to move and aim the camera. It's gone from tough to incredibly tough but I guess it's to be expected. I will keep trying but this might be too hard for me.
Vespoids. Focus on the little bastards first. Then go after the Giadrome. For the Giadrome I find duals and s&s to be the best since he moves a lot, but he doesn't have a lot of health so GS and such are ok too.
And make sure to shock trap him, it let's bust of 2 or even 3 combos if you are fast and accurate with the hits
Where should I go with long swords? Right now I have bone 'shark', and have three options to go to, and a metal one. I can upgrade the metal one to a death cleaver and a black metal long sword. What should I do? Also, where can I mine light stone?
Man that Tigrex is making me want to hack this game. He can hit me so many times consecutively. If I get knocked down by the time I get up he charges at me again. He also can stun me after he charges (about half the time) and then that's another 2 hits in a row. At my current EXTENDED health, I can take 3 hits till I die. So if I don't have full health when he hits me twice in a row, it's over. I've fought him for the past 2 hours and watched YT videos and I haven't gotten better. I saw a guy that beat him in 5 minutes and dodged nearly all his attacks but he also had hearing protection so he didn't have to worry about roars either. He also was way too skilled being able to roll through his arm every time he attacked. At this point I'll never advance. Even in the guild hall it's pretty much HR1s so I'm stuck there as well I guess this is my MH slump..
If you are using an iPad, maybe you should try using your right index finger to adjust the camera (yes, right hand claw position). I find it very useful for bow/bowgun aiming, and I don't even get hand cramp because of the iPad's big screen, you can swipe almost everywhere.
If you have problems with a mission, take a break and try another one. There's plenty of stuff to do in the game.
I've actually played this game A LOT. I got it when it came out in the Japanese store. However actually sad to say there isn't much to do past this point. I can't get the new unlocks, or the new missions if I don't get past Tigrex. And the guild hall missions obviously I've beaten most of the previous ones and the guys left for me the rank up are way too strong. I can craft more gear for fun but it won't help me kill the Tigrex. In fact, Tigrex armor has the hearing protection I need and I'd have to kill a Tigrex to get it... so I'm stuck. Literally. I don't see any other better armors at this level unless I want to collect the weaker ones.
Any monster fights similar to the Jhen Mohran fight in Tri? Though it was somewhat 'scripted', it was definitely epic.
Around 9 pm est tonight, I could use some help with my harder 2 star missions if anyone is or will be around, i can try to set up a room. I had a horrible group questing night last night, multiples . I finally retired to elder gathering quests cause I was losing so much money in deaths
Here's what i did when i first started MH, and i didnt consult anyone or any video but still ended up completing things on my own, despite a bit slow. All part of learning the game. Start the quest, look for the boss. Next, stay about 3 rolls away from them. NEVER ATTACK. This will tell you the different moves they make from that distance. Get familiar with them. Evade them all. Again, just NEVER ATTACK. Once you get comfy that you know what's coming based on the first few frames of their moves, get closer. As in just-outside-their-"tailwhip"-range closer. See how they change their attack patterns from up close. Learn to evade everything they throw at you. Keep in mind that this time, after the monster distances away from you, it is YOU who will close the gap. Dont forget to NEVER ATTACK. Make good use of the superman dive (panic run+evade button). Make your evades count. The objective is to get familiar with each of their moves. Not to kill them yet. Once you get to recognize the type of turn they do, and the possible attacks that come with it, you will surely know which direction to run or dodge. At the point where i never get hit anymore without attacking them, i knew where to place single hit attacks safely, and where to do 2 hits safely. Basically, your job is to place your attacks safely, by rolling to the safe zones you have learned from just evading monsters' attacks after you attack. Later on i learned to abuse more openings even if they are pretty risky. Most of them involving split second evasive movement, just getting away from their attacks just in time. I hope you have the patience to do this as i once did, but it did pay off really well. I was then able to take on G-Rank monsters solo, in slow, but successful ways.
Sort of. Jhen was definitely epic. He was in MHP3 too, and that's where i really enjoyed fighting him. In MHFU, Shen Gaoren is as close as you can get to that type of fight.
I'm loving the hammer it's freaking cool seeing bosses kiss the dust and rolling like dummies helpless I think I'll stick to this weapon for now.
