Generally, SnS weapons are the easiest to get. Less materials needed to make them, and not too expensive.
Damn I failed to solo the first Elder Tigrex... I almost had him. He went to sleep and I shock trapped him, threw my tranqs at him and he was still awake. Then destroyed me. EP do you remember if you need to hit tranqs on the face? Maybe that's the problem. Pretty bummed because I felt like he should have fell asleep right there. His cave where he goes to regenerate is the worst battle ground. It's so small and I have almost no room to dodge his attacks. He just ran me over twice in a row even when I rolled away.
@Edmilan: just did one practice run, but it went well. Got hit twice for being greedy, but managed to break both horns for each rajang. I'll try to make the video after dinner.
I forgot that they need to be available to craft first I can only craft a poisoned hammer, but I think it's too powerful. I need some hornetaur shells, and using poisoned weapons may be better than crafting the gas bomb.
He was probably ready to be captured when he decided to sleep, but take note that when they sleep they recover a little HP slowly. That may have put him just outside of capture range As for tranqing, any part of the body hit with tranqs work fine.
Ah okay thanks EP. I guess I'll try again later :\ I suppose if the 2 tranqs didn't put him to sleep, throwing more wouldn't help right? I'm sure I didn't miss since I was standing right in front but I guess you're right. The only way it failed is if he was uncapturable. Sighhh... I'm too weak!
It requires for you to have certain items to unlock them in the craft shop. Try farming the Iodromes. That should unock the Hydra Bite which is a low level poison SnS.
I just tap the map every time the camera moves away from behind my hunter. It automatically readjusts to behind him once again. It just takes a single tap every now and then. For me, though, I just look at it as being part of the challenge to this series. I'm thankful it's not a fixed camera like the Resident Evil games! Also, it's sometimes nice to see what monsters are about to attack you from behind and your sides. Having the freedom to see 360 degrees really should help you avoid being attacked once you're used to it.
Me too! And I'm now using the one made from Bullfango parts . Although I tried the Lance too and I think I'm liking its Charge move even better!
Ugh failed on the Tigrex again. Time to give MH a break. I need better equips or something. I can't figure out a way to dodge if he charges at me at close range. There's obviously some skill I'm missing but after fighting him 7 times with other people and 3 times by myself, I still can't figure out how to beat him. He's way too fast and leaves almost no openings for melee. If he catches me in a narrow area it's pretty much a guaranteed KO. I even did worse the 2nd time. I guess I should go watch Youtube videos or something. Ah what a pain. Another 2 hours with just lost items. I wonder at what point do you not even save the progress because all you did was lose items. It even costs me 750 a piece every time I lose..
I've just finished the weapon mastery beginner quests, my thoughts.. Sword: was ok, pretty easy Dual: ok too Great: struggled a bit because of the speed Long: was ok but a little tricky Hammer: very very hard indeed Horn: what the heck? Strange weapon, tricky Lance/GL: very hard indeed L-H Bowgun: hard unless close range Bow: pretty tough Overall I think I enjoyed the Sword, Dual and LS the most (perhaps only because they seemed easier) In most games (especially rpgs) my weapon of choice is the bow as I much prefer ranged fighting than melee combat but in this I really struggled with the bowguns as the target sight seems to be ultra sensitive and I took almost 30 secs to line up one shot. Which is obviously not time I will have with large monsters. Up close it was much better as I didn't need to use the sight and I got a lot of hits although I'm not sure it's viable to hunt large monsters by using close range bowguns I have to say, even though I'm probably one of the worst players in the world at this, there's sometime really special about it, it's infuriating but very charming too. The pleasure and sense of achievement is great when succeeding a quest and that's just the training ones. I can't imagine how great the feeling is when you drop a big monster
If you're close, like in-front-of-its-head-close, it is best to dodge towards your right (his left). Most of his attacks are safe from there, or at least give you time to get out from. When Tigrex does his charging attack, he lifts his left forearm very high, which makes you safe from under it. When i first played MH and my first tigrex, i was avoiding him entirely when he was in rage mode.
Attack button three times, attack button swipe up, attack button swipe right, shield button swipe down, roll button into an attack ect ect, there's more than just mashing the attack. Although I guess for the basic monsters you can mash all you like. From reading the battle book in the library at the home hut, the large monsters have certain weak points so high and low strikes matter.
can someone tell me how can I determine the name of the monster I'm fighting with? I'm still at the tutorial, but this will be a great help.
