I was like this too when i first started. It is pretty obvious the game does not want to spoonfeed new players. A proof of this are the training missions. The training guy will only give you hints, but wont tell you anything. Something like "use a trap or two" in which he only gives you one means you have to do something to get the other one. This game doesnt hold one's hand to tell them what to do, instead, they throw clues at you so you figure out what they are trying to tell you. A young genius once said... "Neo, sooner or later you're going to realize just as I did that there's a difference between knowing the path and walking the path." That says a lot for this game.
Wish I would have known about the micro-managed camera controls here before I plunked down 15 bucks. This thing is simply unplayable. Also, weapons have very poor visual/audio feedback on hits so it's not even like killing minions are all that satisfying. But man, the camera is so bad, I don't even know how people can compensate for it. Lack of a standard lock-on mechanic is simply unforgivable for a touch-based game. Yes, this is my first Monster Hunter.
Dood. There is a lock-on. For bosses only, but it works. Well, cant really influence if people dont like it. It's been like this since forever... MH has always been a love it or loathe it game, and it still rings true for the iOS version from what we see here in the forums.

Hey tell me guys doesnt this game get repititive fighting the same monsters again and again? I hv purchased the game btw
No it won't. I guaranteed it. This game specifically has the most monsters out of any in the series, so there's that too.
I think I just came across a bug. I was trying to beat the cephadrome when this sprite started flying around. It looked like the shadow of some reeds. It kinda followed me around, and by following I mean like a foot above my head. I missed my two paintballs on the cephadrome so I had to hunt for it again when it escaped the area. The loading screen came up, then the screen went black, back to loading screen, black again, all in the space of about 1 or 2 seconds. I had to exit the game because nothing was happening.
58 boss monsters, only 16 of which are color variants. Each of these 16 variants have different behavior and have more attack patterns which makes each one different.
I've played Basic Training mission 7 (hunt the Giadrome) and I couldn't capture it. It's hard to throw things like bombs at the monster, it's hard to aim right and hit it. Do you guys have any tips? I'm sure there are posts talking about this subject, but the thread is already too huge to look for.
In order to capture a monster you need to weaken him first. Then you have to set a trap and once the monster is in the trap, throw the tranq bombs at him. If you capture a monster you'll get extra materials after finishing the mission.
To some extent. There only are so many ways to make bird wyverns... but there are 20+ small and 50+ large monsters in MHFU, across 20+ maps, so there's still a lot of variety. Monsters also learn new moves on higher difficulty levels. (And hopefully, so do you It can take a while to figure out your combos and items...) One thing you have to understand is that this is a game where you eventually have to fight for up to 50 minutes (if you're not good enough ) to kill one monster. So even if you fought each one only once, that's still a lot of time. Most people who get hooked on Monster Hunter keep playing because the game does a good job at not stopping with challenges (and it also keeps rewarding you with ingredients for better gear, which is also a draw for many players). You'll notice similarities between monsters, but progressing still requires that you learn them and improve your skill as a player. Are you using lock-on? Also - try walking in its direction for a short bit first. To some extent this might be less of an issue with aiming and more that you can't turn instantly in this game. If you don't at least take a few steps in the direction you want to throw, your character won't have finished turning yet. Your character throws stuff forward, regardless of where the camera is pointing. Just to make sure, to capture it, three things need to happen: The monster needs to be in a trap You need to have done enough damage to it You need to apply enough tranquilizer The order doesn't matter (except you don't have much time after throwing the tranquilizer), but if it's in a trap and you threw two tranq bombs at it and it's not captured, then you didn't do enough damage to it beforehand. I normally put down a trap and then focus on being on the other side of it relative to the monster. Once it starts walking toward it, I do the same, and when I'm close enough I'll throw the bombs. Since I'm walking toward the monster I'm already pointed in the right direction.
After 2 days of constant trying, I've finally done the first set of tutorials. Ending with killing a Giadrome (spelling?) I had to retry this quest over 23 times to finally do it with me dying most of the time due to me losing the monster as the lockon only seems to work on and off and sometimes not at all :/ Anyway it's finally dead. But 23-25 tries to kill the easiest boss in the game, I suck beyond words
Anyone have tips on this game? Same with me been retrying the first hunting quest because it takes quite a while to kill him.
Hi MHFU noob here, I have a few questions.... In the online gathering room how do I know what quest to choose once others have chosen a quest? Is there something I can select or do that will automatically put me in the quest everyone else is doing? What do I need to do to autolock on the boss?
Thanks for the reply I'm really enjoying this game just hope they implement auto aim on every monster like dark souls and you can disable it if you want to cut tails or attack any part of boss monsters.
