Yes you get better and more items at the end of the quest by the breaks you do. I pommel the kut ku's face in and get more at the end as opposed to running around the side of it. I get a S rank on parts that way but don't have to cut the tail. Wasn't the kut ku's tail able to be cut in psp versions? Also, does anyone know how to raise rank on the mission part of score screen? I always get a D but don't see anything telling me to do anything particular to raise it.
The only thing I can't figure out is the mission score it seems that sometimes ill randomly get a score and other times I get none. Anyone got A clue about this? As I can get s in the other 3 sections but not there. About cutting yes I've cut off the rathians tail and broken the chest of the basarios. The breaking cutting seems how it should. More drops from breaking parts. I'm just working on collecting everything at the minute and using each type of weapon s&s gs and ds 100 times it says you get something for it. I'm thinking it will just be another title/achievement but still something to go for.
I give it a "meh".... I'm admittedly not a huge MH fan. I played one for the PS2 and one for my PSP when I had it. I wasn't expecting a console quailty port, but I was hoping for more then just a spam-fest. I've only played for a little while (20 minutes or so) and I'm already on level 3 quest. I don't see any real strategy or tactics to be needed, just mash the screen, maybe I've just gotten lucky. Haven't died yet either. I upgraded my twin swords and my armor but the upgrade process feels cheap compared to other MH games and I guess that's because of how much work went into making a new set of armor in other MH games and how much more difficult boss monsters were. I can remember hiding in some trees waiting for some monster to land and eat my poisoned food, I would charge, hit it would a few stun bombs, fall back and let it hit my traps then kick'em while it's down. I would like to see a few improvements before I get on board with it... 1. Allow for some preparation of the area before the battle, set traps, get in a good position so on, then have the monster attack. 2. Go with an Infinity Blade style system so it feels a little more like a duel and less of a spam-fest. 3. If all else fails change the games name to Monster Slasher, then someone like me wouldn't be a little disappointed with the lack of things that made Monster Hunter appealing to me. This is by no means a review, and I'm sure there are plenty of MH fans would will love the game, I sadly just feel like no new ground has been broken, and it will stand in the shadow of Infinty Blade.
I'm not 100% sure but Getting the mission bonus score seems to be by using the equipment made from the monster your fighting. Eg. Fight the kutku wearing the kutku armour.
I was messing around a bit on lunch and think it may also have to do with what type of weapon you are using as well. eg. DS, GS or SnS
Ok I tried kut ku duals with kut ku armor and got a big fat 0, so I tried the Catburglar SnS and Khezu armor and got an A rank, tried again with same equip and got another D rank so not sure what it is. Tried knockdowns didn't get anything. The only thing I did different on the A rank run was I used the horizontal slash on the legs and got a chance knock down.
Yep same here I've been messing about with different weapons and armour and getting random bonuses? Just can't figure it out.
Actually, that's one of my favourite aspects of MH- trying different weapons and seeing if i become more efficient, or have new strategies. Getting the ranks at the end of a quest gives quite a nice metric for how 'well' i did, so i suppose that's actually a good point in MHDH's favour! That said, until the game gets balanced more finely, and there is more clear water between the weapon types, i guess it's not such a prominent point. If the GS gets more hang time, it will definitely stop people from just sitting slashing away at the monsters. I think currently they may have biased it a little too much towards time pressure being a factor, instead of monster pressure being foremost.
Mission bonus is determined by how well you've dodged/countered the monsters' attacks. So keeping on dodging and countering with slash as much as you can, this will grant you a very high mission bonus. However in order to get an S for mission bonus, you have to try to perform the "chance" time as much as you can. Basically, avoid ALL the moves of a monster's super attack (with the warning "danger!") will grant you a "chance" time in which you can hack and slash the defenseless opponent. In certain stages you can also use the traps or flash bombs or just slash at the right moment to achieve the same effect. The hints are in the messages which appear when you die in each stage.
Wouldn't that be because kutku armor has strong resistance to fire and using fire element armor and duals on fire bird like kut ku would yield less results. I completely forgot kut ku's weakness element even though i might have clocked over 1000 hours on freedom, portable and then freedom unite on psp. I am a huge MH fan and used to love clocking so many hours and always wished this would come on IOS. Currently if you use GS and keep charging and hitting on the monsters face then you can defeat the monster easily however i am struggling a little from Red khezu because of his screaming... lol..again i hope that they add dive button for all weapons....but this surely will stay on my iphone 4 for some time.
i noticed i dont always get the weapon/ armor recipe everytime i beat a monster sometimes its 3 times, sometimes its 5 times is there any special requirement to unlock specific monter's weapon/ armor recipe?
Yes I think it's to do with what items you get from killIng it. With some item drops being rare you need to kill multiple times to get the items to make the weapon/armour.
If you use the normal khezu armour it has anti scream ability. I found that useful for grinding the khezu.
Does anyone know if any of the unlocks for weapons or armour are based solely on mission grade? I haven't been playing very carefully, so haven't yet got any above an overall B rating! Certainly seems that there is quite a lot of depth in this aspect- like if you want a good time rating, it can be a little harder if you frequently down the monster when using something like a greatsword, because you then have to cover distance to it to follow up, which is mitigated by your slow movement speed with that weapon. I've also been finding difficulty in breaking parts consistently for a high parts ranking, particularly with faster-moving monsters, whilst using GS.
