Hi Guys: I'm excited to announce a contest I launched today for Monkeys in Space: Escape to Banana Base Alpha, my new iPhone game, due out any day now! Here is a contest overview, and you can find complete rules on Official Contest Site. 1st Place: A Monkeys in Space T-Shirt, a $25 US iTunes Gift Certificate, an Amigurumi Space Monkey made by Rob LeFebvre of The Portable Gamer, and a promo code for Monkeys in Space when the game launches! 2nd Place: A $25 US iTunes Gift Certificate, and a promo code for Monkeys in Space when the game launches! 3rd Place: A Monkeys in Space T-Shirt, and a promo code for Monkeys in Space when the game launches! 4th & 5th Place: A promo code for Monkeys in Space when the game launches! * Please note: Because the gift certificates and promo codes are only valid in the US iTunes Store, you must have a valid US iTunes Account to be eligible to win. Check out the brand NEW Streaming Colour Store to see what the T-Shirts look like! So now you must be dying to know what you have to do to have a chance to win such amazing prizes, right? Well I'll tell you! It's simple! Create a Monkeys in Space: Escape to Banana Base Alpha-themed diorama Use anything you want to make it: cardboard, markers, popsicle sticks, stuffed monkeys, yarn, pencils, paper, glue, pennies, anything at all! (BUT: it must be real...that is, not digital) Include the text "Monkeys in Space: Escape to Banana Base Alpha" somewhere in the diorama Take a photo of the diorama when it's done (max size: 1024 x 768, JPG format) Email it to: [email protected] along with your full name (but feel free to also post it here!) Entries will be added to the Contest Entries Page until the contest closes (11:59pm EST, Sunday, November 29, 2009) A panel of judges will select their favourites and award the prizes! The panel of highly esteemed judges consists of: Natalia Luckyanova from Imangi Studios Craig Kemper from Little White Bear Studios Rob LeFebvre from The Portable Gamer Owen Goss from Streaming Colour Studios If you're looking for inspiration, check out the Official Gameplay Trailer to see the game in action: So what are you waiting for?! Get to work on your diorama! Owen
I thought I'd mention that there's nothing in the rules that says your entry has to be fully 3D! If you happen to have a stuffed monkey lying around that you can use, that's awesome. If you want to make a monkey papercraft, or build one out of Lego, that's fantastic! But if you want to draw one on paper, that's great too! There's no limit to the possibilities, so get monkeying around! Owen
I, of course, can't enter the contest, but I thought I'd have some fun and create a diorama to help inspire anyone who's having trouble getting started. This is made from: a stuffed monkey my wife knit for me a few years ago, construction paper, bananas, and the holes from a hole puncher. Have fun with your creations! The sky's the limit! If you want to see the image at its full size, head on over to the Contest Entries Page and click on the image. Owen
There have been a couple of new entries to the contest, so I thought I'd share them here. If you want to enter for a chance at the T-Shirts, $25 iTunes Gift Cards, and more, you've only got 3 days left! Gavin's Entry: Stef, Tim & Tara's Entry: Full Contest Rules Owen
My entry. I spend some time using recycled items to come out with the design and the monkeys. http://iphonetech78.wordpress.com/files/2009/11/monkeyinspace.jpg
I hope you can get something done, Rachel! The deadline is tomorrow night... Thanks for the great entry! It has been added to the contest entries page. I'm also going to include it right here so people can see it easier: Remember, the deadline is tomorrow night, so get your entries in soon! Owen
I look forward to it. Oh no! Do you have a friend with a camera you can borrow? Or cell phone with a camera? A laptop with a webcam? Also, we have another entry! This one is from Ade: The entries are rolling in, and I'm having a blast looking at them all! Very creative stuff. Keep up the great work! Owen
aww, my corny crap doesnt have a chance against these, mine is more in the story than the visuals and i still have yet to find my camera
Don't say that, I'm sure it's great! Story is very important. I hope you can get your hands on a camera before tomorrow night. Owen
