That is great news! And welcome to Touch Arcade, it's always awesome to get to know what a dev has planned from the source.
To be honest, I'm kind of developing whatever feels good instead of having big update plans that I couldn't get rid of. So however people want me to continue the game, I will! Of course, as long as it makes sense..
How about some bigger destruction levels where your knocking down bigger structures? Or maybe a mini game style level where there's a wall and you have to knock out certain blocks without toppling the wall? Kind of jenga style. Other than that can't think of much as the game is great.
Cool ideas both of them. Bigger structures wouldn't even be that hard to do. They would be rather easy levels though, especially if they're just big piles of blocks on top of each other since you'd just knock the bottom off and the whole thing would crumble. I'll see what I can do. With the challenges there will be sort of "minigames" that utilize the existing levels better. And thanks.
I've been thinking about them, but haven't really come up with much interesting achievements... Ideas, Donny?
I would keep it simple. Perhaps 30-50 achievement points for 12 completed levels, and so on so forth.
What a nice surprise to see this sleeper of a game get such a positive front page review! Congrats to the developer.
slewis7, I'm still a bit new to Touch Arcade so I don't yet know how much it means to hit the front page... but sure feels wonderful! DonnyDJ76, You got it. I'll put some basic achievements in there and try to come up with something more quirky as well. rich_952000, I love it tooooo!
Will buy later today, but I thought I'd throw my 2 cents in here. I think a cool type of achievement in a game like this is one that takes a certain level and requires you to beat it in a way that wouldn't normally come to mind. Like using a certain type of monkey head or doing it in less moves than seems possible. It may take some crowd sourcing to find good levels for that. A few other types are the "Throw N many of X type monkey heads" or "Knock over N many blocks" or "Beat N many levels" And there's no harm in the shameless promotion achievements - Follow on Facebook, Twitter, leave a review, click my website link. Just make sure those links open in Safari, not in the app. That's all I've got so far. As was said in the front page review, a level editor plus sharing would be really cool for the future.
Good ideas! I could do just some silly "Find 3 Golden Monkeys" type of achievements like Angry Birds' Golden Eggs, and just hide them in the levels. I've been trying to avoid promoting my Facebook, Twitter and "Review my app" so that players wouldn't feel it's yet another ... something. But I guess I'll put in at least a button to check my Facebook page. Level editor however is quite a stretch as a feature! I'll consider that if the game gets enough downloads in the future, but for now it would just be too much work.. :/
I'll look into it! I've had a bit of problems with Twitter integration in the past but maybe I was just a noob.
I finished all the levels and it never got stale. I am very excited that more levels are coming and leader boards!
Just a note to all who are enjoying this Barrell of Monkey madness... The game was nominated for GOTW on the forums http://forums.toucharcade.com/showthread.php?t=273448 Downwell is currently ahead in the running, but Monkeyrama is running a close second.
