Yeah, that is an interesting one. Even more so because they are not 80% of the community, they are just a small group who happen to have a loud voice and talk to each other all the time over twitter or palringo and that's given them the false perception that they are the dominant or the majority. That just wouldn't be the case because even if there is lets say 4000 of them, MC4 had about 700,000 people on the leaderboard. That's hardly 80%. And a bearable loss to the "community". I'm pretty sure a "community" where those that think they are 80% of that "community" come in and rob you blind, that isn't a community at all. It's just a large bunch of thieves. And the best thing to do with them is get rid of them anyway.

Yes, that is essentially what is happening. I'm sure I mentioned about it earlier but they are up on the server now. Those who downloaded it through the shared iTunes are also getting unverified so that build is useless now across the board. Thankfully. Some seem to still be able to get in but once the server authentication proliferates across the network, that will change. There's also indicators of a different build being the launch build so that'll sort all of em out. As to the reset, I haven't heard anything solid about that yet but its happening. Some will slip through the cracks initially but in the end, most will caught out. As to banning, well I haven't seen anything yet that says that person has been banned outright but there is all of them "unverified". Whether that leads to a ban or leaves the door open for them to purchase it and play with a legitimate copy and reset stats is yet to be determined. The overwhelming consensus though and the opinion of the majority of those that can influence it are pushing for a universal ban. Let's hope it goes that way. Anyway, while the whole thing has been a massive cluster you know what, we can at least take heart that they will all be removed and we will have a level playing field at launch.
Did the always-online help clean this mess up? Was it what helped detect the people with illegitimate copies? If so, that would be funny, because many didn't like it, and now it's doing all of us a favor.
just looked at my stats for MC4 - it is laughably bad!!! I had a very poor start to MP, had a decent run in the middle, but my latest attempt definitely shows me in a bad light or is it that I am very good at self sacrifice ah well from Bnates streams it seems as though the controls are different anyway on this.
Haha, it's okay. I did pretty good in MC4, but that's because I went from playing MC3 straight to MC4, and I ranked almost to the top prestige within the first few months of release. Recently I started to try to play again and I was definitely much worse than I was before. BTW, what is different about the controls? Are you referring to the new auto-sprint and such?

Really? That'll tell you how long it's been since I checked in on the leaderboard. I had been playing away a little bit but I never looked at that. I must check my position to see where I am now. I'll either be amazed or extremely disappointed. Edit. Position 1696. Not too bad for someone with 1800 matches and it turns out its 3 months since I had a couple of matches and have to go back 3 more months for a couple more matches. Turns out I've been playing it less than I thought. Must get my memory fixed. A very disappointing 2.51 K/D ratio though. Oh well. But nearly 29,000 kills from 1800 matches isn't too shabby I suppose. It did. It was the reason all those illegitimate copies were detected. As the game wasn't/isn't on release, the server side authentication/checks/filters weren't up over the weekend. The piracy related ones went up earlier and some more hack related ones will be up very soon. But once the piracy related ones went up, it detected the illegitimate copies and now "unverified" is what happens when illegitimate copies attempt to connect. So yeah, once they went up, they did exactly what they are supposed to do. Oh and by the way, the controls are different but they can be changed back to what you would expect from the past ones. Auto sprint, where you push up a bit higher on the left dpad to sprint can be disabled and replaced with a button. Auto fire is only enabled for the campaign mode and can be turned off also there anyway. I've seen aim assist mentioned a few times but I think that is also disabled for multiplayer. Not 100% sure on that but as far as I know it is auto disabled.
Wow, what a Monday! Just wanted to come in and confirm that all pirated MC5 builds should not be working at this time. That's all I've got to share for the time being and I'll update you once I get any new information. Thanks to everyone who gave me or anyone else in Gameloft a heads up about this situation, we really appreciate it. Now hopefully my Twitter feed will stop killing my phone battery...
Well, you certainly get points for being bold, but to answer your question; no, the single-player will still require a connection.
Is it an always online requirement, or just a verification and then you can be offline for a period of time?
I'm not sure if this was answered already but since the level cap is 100 and the only way to level up your character is with points you get from leveling up will we be able to max out all the different classes?
