Thirded (well motion started a couple of pages back ) although Rip made a good point in that he wanted to support the payment model of this, likewise
There's a lot more to it than "lame" shadow effects. In addition to SSAO (a first for mobile devices on any engine) • Eye adaptation & Bloom – exposure adjusts in a more realistic manner when moving between light and dark areas • Soft particles – improved interactions of particles with surrounding geometry • Underwater distort and caustics – reproduces realistic water effects • Real-time character shadows – characters cast shadows on geometry in real time • Heat-haze – air distortion due to muzzle heating after shooting • Depth of Field – cinematic effect that makes the background appear out of focus so that certain characters or objects in the foreground step more into focus • Reflection ground • colour correction • Specular effects • Advance decal system (bullet holes in walls, etc) • Lens dirt for realism • Spherical harmonics • Ragdoll physics And that's not even the full list of graphical improvements. So they won't be using UE4 because they don't need to. And Tahzblade, Oscar, mess and the rest of you guys, thanks a lot, I appreciate it. It'd still be a bit mean to get it before you guys though but thanks for the kind words. And Oscar, I go away for a while and you post up heap of information, well done and thanks. I literally have nothing more or new to add to the info you've put up, well done. Well not until Tuesday anyway after those multiplayer streams. Oh and by the way, Bnates video has the real time shadows in it for most of the characters so it looks like its just about the final build in that video. There's a few more little things to tweak out but that's about as close to what it'll finally be that we've seen so far.
The problem is there aren't to many FPS's on the App Store that EVEN come close to the modern combat series. And for a mobile game I can't complain what gameloft has been delivering in this series.
That's ridiculous, you're seriously complaining because there are good effects? Okay the battery life will be affected but come on, that's just finding anything to complain about
Haha, it's more of a complaint of a majority of iOS games not having graphics settings. I was mostly just poking fun, not really a complaint.
Just wanted to chime in on the games engine comments. Gameloft have spent a fair bit of time developing their new current engine, it's used in GT Racing 2 and Asphalt 8 and MC4 I think they were the first games to use it but not sure. Now NO ONE makes a new games engine every year, because they require a huge investment of time which also means money to make. That's why the Unreal Engine 3 went on for so long and was just added to and enhanced more and more over time. So their is nothing wrong with the engine in MC5 and I would expect Gameloft to continue using it for a lot longer, they will just further develop it as time goes on.
just incase some of you don't listen to the TA podcast, apparently Jared is going to release a hands-on gameplay video of multiplayer on monday
Ok thanks , About 7 or so months ago games and apps prices in Australia went higher. In Australia Gameloft games used to be $7.49 now they are $8.99. All games that cost $7.49 are now $8.99 all games that used to be 99c are now $1.29 and it goes on ... Even In-app purchases are more expensive now. Looks like I might have to pay $8.99 for MC5 Better be worth it ! Even thought its gonna be $8.99 I'm still going to get it at day one because it has no iaps ! ( In Australia its always 49c so if the price is $7.44 it is going to be $7.49 and now that prices in the appstore are more expensive we have to pay $8.99 for $7.44+ apps and games and pay more for other games and apps with other prices as well. Australia is a really expensive country - not expensive OVER PRICED we pay here extra for everything ! - aslo there is no reason why we should pay extra ! Anyways getting off topic , can not wait MC5 !
Tax is already included in the price we pay and we also have higher minimum wage and average income. Besides, if you think the disparity in price of iOS apps is unfair you should see what they do for PC and console games. :C
Well yeah in Australia EVERYTHING is over priced, and higher pay ( not that much higher to be honest ) is not an excuse to rip people off lol , here in Australia every thing is over priced , everything is a rip off and higher pay and tax is not an excuse , I find it extremely annoying when people use higher pay as an excuse. So just because you get " higher pay " you let people rip you off ? Anyways this is getting off topic. Can not wait for this game to come out ! so excited !!
Check out bnates exclusive MC5 gameplay video !! http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=0QyKksopZCM So anyone know if the gameplay in that video is the final form/build ? In the description bnates says "I can't thank Ryan enough for this." So Ryan since you provided that video do you know if the gameplay in that video is the final form/build ? EDIT- if you can not just click of the link to go to the video just copy and paste the link into your browser.
Same thing happened to me yesterday! Thanks oscar for fixing must remember to watch it tonight, havig a severe lack of sleep at the moment Good news though 11 days left...
I watched bnates video and it looks pretty good. I don't know why people are complaining about the graphics, the graphics are on par and almost definitely better than the previous modern combat games. Another thing I am excited to see is the fact that when he picked up the G36 there were attachments on it. Hopefully this features translates to multiplayer. On the downside one thing I noticed is that the gun he predominantly used, the SR-2, seemed to have very little recoil. I hope that is only with that particular gun, if none of the guns have recoil that the multiplayer will be significantly changed. Also, this is a personal preference, but hopefully you can change the Sight reticules. In the red dot sight showcased the dot was a circle wih a dot inside of it, instead of the normal plain red dot.
