I did, and I would never claim what you have, because you have implied that millions of people didn't buy a game for the campaign.
I played through the campaign too. It wasn't very good. I can't remember any missions. Now MC3 . Amazing fun missions, same with MC 2
I definitely played it more. The multiplayer was paper-thin, and could only be played on Wi-Fi. When I'm playing on Wi-Fi, I'm using my desktop, playing Call of Duty or Battlefield. The games MC tries to imitate. I'm also frustrated by MC4's credits. It's just credits, credits, credits. That's why I like this cross-mode unlock system; it benefits me, the singleplayer player, and the multiplayer player.
There's a point where those that invest years of their lives in something where they get tired of "some" stealing it. And before some people come up with the story that piracy only affects 10% of the market or say pirates wouldn't have bought it anyway! It doesn't feel like piracy only affecting 10% only with counter measures like this being necessary.
While I do think that piracy is a big deal and has pretty much ruined the industry to a point of layoff I don't think always online is the way to go.I can speak only for myself and people around me and I can tell you nobody will buy Tasm 2 or future online singleplayer games if they are going to be always online. While it makes sense in a game like mc5 there's no point of having AO in sp games. They should look at other options available like iap unlock etc. From what I gather there's no way server side iap's can be hacked as of now,AO is not only removing the potential customers but it also causes a lot of inconvenience to people who have purchased the game, think about people with wifi only ipads and ipod touchs they are certainly limited in their gaming experience now,Wifi is still a rare thing where I live and free wifi hotspots are generally impossible to find. A recent example would be tasm2 I was playing the game in my college lunch break and my data plan expired and there was no other wifi hotspot available there, not only was now the game unplayable but it was also taking up a lot of space on my device.Waiting for my monthly data plan recharge would mean that I would be deprived of playing it outside my house for a very long time which defeat s the purpose of mobile gaming imo. On a side note: I had opened the game after I came from college and I was forced to update to a whopping 600mb update.Without which it was impossible to play the game. It's outrageous to make a single player game unplayable until you install a mandatory update,Of all my years of gaming I've never come across a mandatory patch for a single player game, players should 'always' have the choice to update their game as and how they wish. It's understandable for a mp game but makes no sense in sp games. Also why am I required to download the whole game just for minor bug fixes, when just a few mb of patch would be suffice.Apple has provided the facility of delta updates haven't they? It's a huge problem for people who are on a limited data plan with fup,Can someone explain why delta updates have not been put to use,Cause It's the same thing with every other dev on ios. P.S I do think majority of gamers out there don't like always online policy,Microsoft are still playing catch up to Sony because of it.Wonder if they would have been firm with their decision how badly it could have affected their sales,I think if not for sony gaming would really be lot more worse, from the game sharing policies to other restrictions imposed on customers had Sony not existed we would have been struggling.Good thing gamers voted with their wallets and they should do the same in this case as well.
Yeah, MC2 was the best. The only MC with a good campaign. And its Multiplayer didn't have the stupid currency system
I do think that people who think the best way to stop piracy in games is by using always online DRM should have a look at the calamity of SimCity and Diablo 3 at it's launch. They did not have enough servers to support both of them at launches, so even paying customers could not play that game. That was getting more people to hate the game and it detracted potential customers. There's also the fact that once the people running the servers which allow people to play the game decide to shut those servers down, then the people who have payed for their game will not be able to play it. That's bascially you buying a DVD of a movie from a DVD shop, then finding out in a couple of years that the people who you bought the DVD from had come back and taken the DVD from your house, and when you come back to get your DVD back, they will refuse to give you back your own copy. Also, Always Online DRM will not stop pirates. They will go into the games code and take out the part which would require the game to connect to the online servers, and they'll release that version of the app onto the Internet. People will download that version and they will be able to play through (at least) the single player mode of the game. Always Online DRM is just an uneffective way at stopping piracy which ends up harming the people who actually payed for the game, and it can lose potential customers for future products
We will not be communicating anything new on BiA3 as far as I know. Due to the heavy rework after the showing at CES, it'll probably be a bit before we showoff/have any new information Not that I'm aware of. I know we've got an update coming for Gangstar Vegas this summer that should be pretty neat.
Im kind of curious of how possible can it run on the ipod touch 5G, i wonder if you guys can add graphics settings in the game like you guys do on some android games. Like disabling particles, something like that. Im just quite curious because with ios 7, modern combat 4, nova 3 and asphalt 8 drops frames like crazy now. Including gangstar vegas which is very very intense on the ipod touch 5G
I heard that MC5 won't use Gameloft Live! but it will use Game Center for multiplayer. Is this just a rumor because I don't like Game Center matchmaking.
I really hope they don't use gamecentre... It is appalling And despite not being perfect their current system seems to work alright
