I do not like always online. I just don't. That being said, I understand the reasons. Especially if the SP carries over to the MP. I definitely want controller support. That is a must have for me. If it isn't there for launch, hopefully it's in a timely update.
At the end of the second live stream they said there would be no in-app purchases AT LUANCH So gun camos/new maps/guns you will probably have to pay for.
Yes they said "at launch" because it leaves them the option to add dlc/iap at a later stage depending on how it performs. Option only. Not intent. Maps, camos and weapons are planned with some already in progress but won't be ready for launch. Nothing that is currently in progress will be iap related, that includes more maps, more guns, camos, voice chat, controller support, twitch or anything else. Along with a lot more that they are working on for it . The one and only reason "at launch" is mentioned is because it allows them the option if they need to depending on revenue stream and ongoing costs. So no, as things stand right now additional maps, guns and other content will not have to be paid for. Their intent is very clear on this one and if any iap appears at a later stage, which won't be for a much later stage if it does at all because all additional content that is currently being worked on for updates is not iap and will still be free content updates just to be very clear, will just be a reflection of the market not supporting the model. @f3ar, controller support is coming but don't expect it in the first month. It will be included in a content update that will take them longer than that to finalise. Subject to change but not likely to be an update along that lines until a good while after release (any timescale would be a very rough estimate and not worth speculating on because it'd probably be wrong).
So they're admitting their game is unbalanced? That people who have unlocked more but don't actually have more skill can flat out beat people who haven't progressed as far?
Ha, now that's an unbalanced statement. What you're saying is that skill won't matter and that it's the best weapon that will win? See the contradiction? Skill is not a factor? If you have skill, it won't matter, it's just unified progress to link the two. The only purpose of that us to get multiplayers to play single and vice versa. And to make it a single experience in both rather than the desperation of the two in the past. Something most people would be very happy with and in no way an addition of unbalance. In fact it merely balanced things out between the two modes. And if you think you need the "best" weapon to win, well then you just don't have the skill.
Who on earth said progress wasn't important? If anything it's more important now and more relevant because it can be earned in both single and multi and apply to both scenarios. And that's why people care about a progress hacked game. I don't even understand what you're actually trying to say with that post because it couldn't be more obvious that progress is important and that point makes no sense at all to me. Progress is simply important in any game and even more important now because its unified and preventing hacks of that is essential to fair play. Those that earn the progress by playing get that progress, which is quite simply an essential fair play element. The fact that there's no iap to buy that progress makes it even fairer still. And that's not the only reason people care about a hacked game. Speed hackers, unlimited grenade hackers, unlimited ammo, one shot kill and all other types of hacks that are popular with FPS games. Preventing those kind of hacks is the primary security concern also. I mean if you played previous games you're well aware of the hacker problems they've had there and they have always been the reason I've stopped playing them in the past. I see the hacker prevention as the most important feature. To put into context about skill versus progress, progress will still net you better weapons but if you have the skill, it won't matter the weapon, skill will always trump. It's always nice to have nicer better weapons because it will make it easier but you originally claimed they were admitting it was unbalanced, which they were not, by you saying those who have progressed further will have better weapons and be able to beat the skilled ones. That is simply not the case. Better weapons will increase you're odds of beating a better skilled player but it will in no way guarantee it. And I know this for a fact because despite not playing MC4 for more than 6 months, I am still in the top 0.1% worldwide iOS leaderboard (from a peak of top 20 players worlwide) and there is not a single weapon in that game that can beat me or I fear unless it is in the hands of a very skilled player. A progress advanced player with no skill and the best weapon would not have a hope against me in it even f I only equipped a handgun. Their odds would be better with a charbtek or a compakt but not by much. The same will apply to this game because it is balanced. Better weapons will increase stats but they won't compensate for a lack of skill or some form of tactical ability which you implied with your first post that they would. They won't. You will need to develop skill to prosper in it. Better weapons will help but they will not compensate for lack of ability. And the same thing could be said about any properly balanced FPS ever released on any platform. A variety of weapons and a variety of stats for each one is an essential part but different tools for different jobs, such as different maps or different tactics. It doesn't imply that one will dominate all.
I'm fine with that. Call of Duty doesn't charge me to play beyond the initial price, but if I want to put space cats on my gun (as you should), that's $2. That's a small price to pay for space cats.
So I was watching the stream and at around 1:04:40 they are discussing the specific release date and the guy on the left gives a date, however his heavy accent makes it hard to understand, at least for me. Did anyone catch what he said? The video I watched was on the youtube channel of one AsR_iHack3x2. Also, for people worried about the unified progression of single and multiplayer, you probably only get a fraction of the XP in single player compared to multiplayer. For example it looked like you got 5xp for killing someone in sp, while in multiplayer you will probably get 50 or 100xp.
I think at this point it's a very safe bet to say the game will be launched in June, considering all the news and demos of it now, plus it being shown off at E3. Who knows it may be out in the second week?
So just like always. I expected a possible $9.99 price. Regardless, I'd buy it to support the premium model to keep freemium from infesting the App Store.
Whatever Spider-Man 2 launched at is what you can expect the price to be. I think it was $4.99. That appears to be the upper limit for something with multiplayer. Official announcement at E3 but it'll probably be known next week. There is some multiplayer information coming out this week, probably Thursday but might be before that.
