This is ridiculous. You won't buy best mobile FPS game, because you couldn't play SP sometimes coz of internet? Really?
Rip73, i dont want to go throught a long and bloody debate so note that everything i'll say here are just my thoughts ( i'm a human being i can be wrong). If you can improve all your stats and your guns during the campaingn, considering you use them all on multiplayer, the campaign can't be offline anymore. Cauz you know...hacking in modern combat is 1000x more damaging than in TASM or captain america. There's absolutely NO WAY they'll make it offline!! And i'm a bit offended by what you said, as an ipad air WIFI owner you're basically saying i'm stupid and my device is useless!! I dont think ipod users appreciated that too. i get why devs need to implement permanent connection to their games and after all this is just business (i can't throw them any rock) but even when you want to defend it...don't make it as its all ok even for gamers and there is nothing to complain about it. Even with my unlimited LTE on my iphone i have a good bunch of complains about this!! I just dont care anymore. Ps: you gotta be the only human in the world wondering that he's complaining about constant connection in a game, just because he has to be connected to complain!
I don't know about you guys... But I am getting this game because of the online multiplayer. Common guys! They just announced a handful of info in that blog post, we should be happy, excited, hyped for the game! I know that you all are big fans of the single player, but how many times are you actually going to play through it? Probably once or twice. Just because TASM required a connection, that doesn't mean mc5 would. And if it did can you blame them? They just want to make sure that they release the game, that they've spent countless hours on, for people who pay for it.
Just wanted to chime in here mate. Because their are a LOT and I mean a LOT of instances where you want to whip out your tablet that does not have a cellular radio built in, and you want to play a game only can't because it's not connected to WiFI. Being in a car is one very good example. So you have to connect it to your smartphone, hope you have a good enough signal, and open the game praying it doesn't decide to download a 100mb patch! So yes, always online can stink for gamers on mobile devices. They are mobile devices, designed to leave the home.
I never implied anyone was stupid for having a wifi only device. That would you're interpretation, not mine. Wifi can still connect. Or at least I can anyway. In the car, a restaurant, a hotel, the office, on a bus, in a bar, at home, at a friends house, on some planes, on all ferries and lost of other places. So, no, you can be offended if you want. However, that was about as far from my intent as it could possibly be and was in no way an implication that anybody with a wifi device is stupid, that again would you're own interpretation and definitely not mine. I have plenty of wifi only devices that cause me no problems and 50% of the game i have right now are online only and I never have a problem playing them when I want to. I also doubt very much if I'm the only human in the world that's sees the irony of people going online to complain about online only in games. It is quite ironic. Indeed they are and that's why cellular phones were originally called "mobile" phones and why mobile phone cellular providers exist. A mobile phone is also quite useless when it doesn't have a connection. It can't make or receive phone calls, send or receive SMS, check email, look up a web page or do just about anything that a smart cellphone was designed to do. And ultimately, the multiplayer has always been the biggest draw to the Modern Combat series and has always been the main talking point on any of the threads for any of the games on here. That did always require on line. The campaign always seemed to be the secondary. And if the multiplayer is the primary, well, can't play that without being online so the whole thing seems like the wrong game to be getting up in arms about an online only. Which as yet has not been confirmed anyway. I still have plenty of games with an online and offline element where the equipment that you use online is stored locally so unified is not a guarantee of online only. And as I said before, if it keeps hackers out of the multiplayer, that will be a very welcome addition because yes Lerisbo, hackers in the MC series are 1000x more damaging than they are in TASM2 or CapA. And you'd know that if you played against any of them in any of the series from 2 onwards. Which if you have played MC3 or MC2, and I assume you have, you've come across them and seen the damage they do. The threads for those games were constantly full of complaints about the hackers. As were Gameloft forums and support pages. And those complaints continued to MC4 and was the main point of complaint from people to their support pages and community manager. One shot kill hack, speed hacks, invulnerability hacks and far too many more hacks and mods that ultimately led me to delete them all. MC2 and MC3 were particularly plagued by them in multiplayer and I would still have those games on device but for those hackers. Mc4 did a lot more for security and for banning those hackers but was not 100% successful in preventing the mods from getting online. A lot better but not quite there. If an online only element is in MC5 and if it keeps out any speed hackers or one shot kill hackers or any other of those notorious hacks out of multiplayer, I welcome it.
I see the problem with needing a connection for most mobile games (I always pull out my iPad when on planes or on the sub, strictly playing games that do not require an internet connection because there is no internet) but I don't see the problem with needing a connection to play MC5 - a game that is widely known for its online multiplayer. I think we can all agree that we buy Modern Combat for the online multiplayer, not so much the campaign. Yeah the campaign adds a nice touch, but I doubt theres someone out there who has spent more time in the campaign than the online multiplayer. Since they added clan tags in mc4, its likely that they'll add them in mc5. What do you all think about starting up a TA clan
"Or at least I can anyway" OOPS!! my bad! now that we know YOU can connect by wifi in all those places, i think there's no more reason for US to complain!! well i rarely take ferries, my car doesn't have wifi, why the hell would i play in a bar?! i'm more of a cheap guy when it comes to travelling...thats probably why i never had access to wifi in a plane. i'm sorry but what you say is so secific to you that it becomes bullshit(sorry for the word) when it comes to the average users! like which kind of bus do you take on daily basis that freakin' has wifi in!! Actually are you even serious??!!! if you say so....
I wouldn't mind a constant connection to gain weapon unlocks & other items , but when a connection is unavailable, campaign should accessible but unlocks would be Locked.
I myself am a single player type of guy(doesn't mean I don't play multiplayer every once in while) it's nice to take a break from having I constantly play and deal with people online. In single player mode you can "PAUSE" something no one seems to care about anymore. I played a great deal of the campaign, matter of fact I didn't play much of the multiplayer. I couldn't even enter a match because no one ever plays. What happens if you still have the game although Gameloft's server for it is closed? Waste of money. Not to mention if you enter a deadzone or some other area without 3G or 4g cellular data or WiFi your game becomes a space holder. It's useless to have an always online game. Hackers always find a way.( I know from experience, I have a cousin who hacks hackers). Look at The Amazing Spiderman 2. Within one week of release cracked versions already existed.
Yep, lets get better data provider to play MC5 lol. Also I am going to the bar to eat, to my friends to meet them, not to sit down to play mobile game. Depends on how you use your phone, seems like not everyone is doing it like you(the proper way I assume).
We're living in a world where being away from the internet is so inhumanely difficult to do that you actually have to deliberately keep yourself away from it. Why is this a problem?
MC4 is still packed with players. MC1 servers are still up and running. Please tell me that you're joking about playing the campaign more than the online multiplayer. And theres a difference between being able to play a cracked version of a game/using cracked currency in the game, and being able to download a cracked version of a game when connected. Meh... I'm just going to unsub to this thread again until some more news comes >.<
Weapons will be used both MP and SP? So I will buy 2-3 weapons (number depends on money and class) when playing MP and I can use only them in SP campain and nothing else. This means I won't be able to try and use all possible weapons in SP campain just only use mine from MP and some taken from killed bots and use them till end of current mission.
Ah, well that's good then. That means neither of you have any reason to complain about always online, if the game in fact has it, if neither of you need it in any of the more than two places that I used as an example. That's great. As there are thousand of other examples I can give of where connections are available, either wifi or cellular, you two will be more than well covered if it transpires.
And there are thousand of places that wifi is not avaible, good for you for having it everywhere, not everybody can say that.
