Let's be honest: It's a mobile game. Fancy effects will be the real focus here, not 60 fps. It'll probably run just smooth enough for people to not to complain no matter which device you own, but you'll be lucky if it's above 30 fps. The average person taking a glance at the AppStore/Play Store page is more likely to notice the fancy graphics in the screenshots than some framerate number buried in the description. Graphics sell, framerates don't.
Yes. Very correct. And lets be honest, it will be locked to 30fps, there is little or no doubt about that. The iPhone 5 in reality is the targeted optimal device currently with the 5s getting a little bit extra and 4s and below getting a little bit less effects wise. And there will be numerous reasons why it will be locked to 30fps, not least being battery and the habit of certain games with a lot of high end effects causing certain devices to run a bit hot. Its impossible to determine what it'll be on a 6 because even if they do have a test one, they would have limited access to it, it wouldn't be the final specs and as the pixel count and screen size will be larger, I'm very confident it will be locked at 30 fps on that as well, simply due to the effects it will be pushing on the denser larger screen and the benefit it will offer to battery. 30 fps is a realistic expectation on 5/5s and iPad 4/air/mini retina 2 but then again the a7 chip doesn't exactly have a stellar optimisation record so far for a range of developers so I'm realistically expecting the 5 or iPad 4 to offer the best compromise. It would be real nice if that other poster turned out to be right but there is no basis whatsoever for it at the moment beyond optimism and high hopes. None of which are a bad thing of course but no need to focus or get sidetracked by it, 30 fps will be the number.
You sure? I'm asking you honestly here, because I've never used an iPhone 5s. I'd assume the more powerful CPU and would result in better performance, seeing as that's generally what an improved CPU exists to do. While you make a compelling argument, I also don't believe it's what will happen. None of the MC games have ever had a capped framerate -- not only would it be inconsistent and unfair for the more powerful devices that COULD manage 60FPS, it messes with the responsiveness of the controls. 30FPS may maintain competitive balance, but it doesn't seem right for a twitch shooter, especially when considering MC5 runs at a flawless 60FPS on my iPhone 5.
I've never used one, either; just going by games Gameloft and a few other devs have for the A7 chip. It seems very hard to optimize for, and there are very few if any games that actually look/run better on the A7, and a whole ton that run much, much worse. GTA: San Andreas comes to mind especially.
I'm going to recommend against posting false information. It does break the rules. I'm pretty sure you meant MC4. Otherwise there is a lot more you need to be telling us Anyway, I see your point, but if you're getting 60 on it, you are doing very well. I agree in that I found it very consistent on both my devices but I'm still pretty sure 30 is what it is locked at. 60 is definitely the max for any iDevice so I will ask somebody and check again as to whether it is locked at a specific rate below that 60 as it has been a while since it came up and I could very easily be wrong. It is good though that you are getting solid framerate either way on the i5, it bodes well.
Do you guys think this game will have a more cinematic feeling than the other Modern Combats? I felt that March of Heroes was heading that direction and I really liked the idea
I would add on to the joke, but that would be rude and doesn't belong in a forum on an upcoming Phone game.
There's been much more off topic discussions here than any other forum I've seen. And I've been a member since 2011.
Who knows. I would guess summer 2014. The big conferences are coming soon, so in a month probably there will be info.
I have a theory near the bottom of page 55. You can take it as an indicator only, not a definite. It's a pretty close estimate though I reckon. He doesn't really have to give proof, we've known it with a while now. It doesn't mean he has access to the game though on his own device. The secrecy Gameloft have displayed about it so far to the public also extends internally and it wouldn't exactly be floating around on every employees device and they certainly wouldn't be giving access to employees family members. They don't want any leaks so that would exclude that possibility. I'm pretty sure it was originally a typo anyway on his part.
