Thats great, I don't understand why they used fake names for MC3 and 4, I'll still be named VinyProer though.
I'd rather have more detailed and interactive multiplayer maps with 10 players than a larger player count. In what way?
MC3 was perfect in terms of gameplay and map size/match making and everything. Like MC4 is so stupid honestly. Pointless private match/stupid ranked match. Etc.
It will have real world weapons with the correct naming. Not weapons based around real world ones. Expect the usual and a greater variety. It does have a full physics engine with environmental damage. Not Frostbite level, so don't expect full environmental damage to that level as the devices limits that possibility, but environmental damage is an element. It is not open world. It will be 12 player multiplayer. 14 and 16 was considered as far as I know but dismissed for technical reasons varying from server loads to matchmaking to device variations. May be subject to change down the line but don't see it happening. Maps will be of a greater variety but tactically "tighter" is the best description. Think along the lines of Blitz Brigade maps and MC4 maps having some babies (but without jet packs and splash damage thankfully). Expect official announcements "early" in the week. Note that doesn't necessarily mean Monday (though possible) but does mean in forts half of the week. Some details have to be signed off by seniors in their headquarters and is dependant on when that gets done.
Its only some details that I'm aware of after a quick scan of some of the points of discussion here. There will be a lot more to the game than just that as they are throwing everything at it in order to make it the very best available for the platform. But the full range of details will be worth the wait of early in the week assuming everything gets clearance. Oh and I noticed some talk on BIA 3 that seems to reflect low expectations of it. Expect a lot more from that one as well. I personally think the original incarnations of BIA 1 and 2 were some of the best games of their time and the next one will be a lot more than people seem to be expecting because it is going through heavy revisions. Early impressions of it seem to be extremely positive.
How do you know if the maps will be tighter or will have greater variety,Were you a beta tester or is there some info out on the net about it?As far as I know there hasn't been any info about player count or map layout, has there? And destructible environments! They would be great.
It looks nothing like MW3. MC is much more colourful than MW3 (I think MW3 may have set a record for the most drab looking Call of Duty game), other than that the graphics in MW3 are better than those in MC5 in pretty much every way (perhaps not by a massive ammount, but still), unless you count gimmicky screen effects (such as excessive ammounts of rain drops on the screen) as a visual improvement.
Hopefully Modern Combat 5's multiplayer won't have any game-ruining guns like the Compakt was in Modern Combat 4.
MC5 appears just as dull as MW3 to me, at least. There's a lot more to it, but I'm not gonna debate about it. To each it's own, right?
Mc5 looks drab and uninteresting to me,The colours are dull and the contrast is unremarkable.Thise comparing it to mw3 should play it first on their ps3 it might look terrible for console but it's still miles better than mc5 although mc5 looks good for a mobile game.Textures are one area where they should have improved,mc4 on my relatively weak android phone has the same textures as my 5s.Good thing is that they have real time shadows this time. The raindrop effect is nothing to brag about I find it hilarious that they hold it as some sort of a major technical achievement.Storm raiders I beleive had the same effect long time back. Now if they had hdrr that would be something to look forward to or more polygons and stuff.
No, Gameloft doesn't do beta testing as such or at least not in the traditional way and that testing would not include outsiders. As to comments on the look of the game, judging the look of the game on a video that's almost a year old isn't representative of the final product. That video would only be representative of a very early incomplete pre alpha test build and would not be representative of the level of polish of the final game. Not even close. As to destructible environments, to be very clear we are not talking Frostbite levels of fully destructible environments, more of destructible elements of the environment. More or less.
We've seen one location and that was alpha footage. The textures probably won't change, considering they are impressive for an iOS device. Even though the textures aren't amazing, the detail on the level that we've seen is pretty darm great. And you're all comparing a pre alpha mobile game to a complete console game, I don't think I have to explain the problem there... MC5's graphics are amazing for a mobile device and its really pushing its device to its limits. If these graphics won't impress you, I'm not sure which iOS game would
Here are some of my problems with the graphics and level design in the announcement trailer which admittedly is really outdated, so some of these may not apply anymore: The scale of objects is completely wrong: Many of the objects look like mineatures, there are wide open areas in between things with literally nothing in them. It's really obvious that the lighting is baked, there isn't all that much there in terms of atmospheric effects and post processing (And the game is crying for anisotropic filtering) For the sake of comparison here's Killzone Mercenary on PS Vita which does those things fairly well IMO (and hey, it's a handheld from 2011, so this should be a relatively fair comparison):
The Vita was developed to play and develop games. Its well optimized for devs. iOS devices on the other hand, are a lot more tougher to develop 3D hardcore games for, with a lot more things to worry about. I'd say it would be best to compare a iOS game to an iOS game, since the Vita is far more capable of handling gaming. Even though the device is a couple years old it doesn't mean the device's capabilities are dated. The xbox 360 is what, 8 years old now? iOS is really the only device that gets outdated hardware wise because of the yearly updates. Devs don't have enough time to figure out the hardware and get use to it, especially hardcore 3D games. Just due to that fact I'd say the Vita is better hardware wise, but iOS excels software wise. In my opinion the visuals in MC5 are gorgeous. Just looking at the E3 gameplay makes my jaw drop. And the screens look perfectly fine to me. Every street does not need to be filled with objects, and the devs did a great job on adding details here and there, especially indoors. I can't comment about the lighting in the hallway because theres really no point in that, tables, chairs, shadders, boxes, railing, windows, and other objects seem to be the right scale in the E3 demo. And the actual important thing, the gameplay in the E3 demo looks solid.
Lol... iPhone is no different than phone. Developers don't need to get used to new hardware every year. Vita is actually a lot harder to develops since cell chip is more alike with ps3 (custom made). Does PC have this problem? No... Yet they gets new hardware boost every year. MC5 does look like have some solid gameplay but nothing new that I have noticed. And gameplay doesn't matter, if map design and match making sucks once again, game is gonna another failure
