I agree that killing has a big place in CTF, but I see many players who actually refuse to pick up the flag because then they become a target. Many clearly just value their own KD over the win, and playing CTF solely for KD seems silly and a cheap way to inflate that number (this isn't directed at you). Same with camping spawn points in CTF. It's easier than jumping into a fair fight in a team battle. While its a great strategy if your teammate is trying to score, it's just a KD inflator in a 5-3 match with all 5 players camping (e.g., Construction). That said, players need to know how to beat that strategy. And I still love standing my ground with the flag in enemy territory in Rooftops. Oh, and as for public ranked matches being some sort of training ground for squad battles, I never play the latter so public games are my regular season, so to speak.
I have no hope that this will ever be fixed to be honest. It's possible some of them are, like people like you who run around the map to intercept enemies on their way to the flag, but those who simply camp and have no awareness whatsoever of anything but what's in their camping line of sight aren't good players.
As far as I can tell (please let me be wrong) they are just scenes from SP. Notice that firing from the left to right is only 2 people - your character and the NPC that does nothing at all to help... Hope I am wrong though.
Honestly I think the biggest problem is that this game is premium without IAP. Don't get me wrong that's what I LOVE about this game but there is less of an incentive to push out updates once the money has been made. Also regarding maps I personally think they do it wrong. When they develop the game they should design 5 or 6 maps ready to go but instead of releasing them all at once hold back one or two for updates within the first three months. People would be absolutely amazed by how frequent the updates are. (Granted I have no knowledge of game designing). I think it would even be better to delay the release in order to ensure an impressive update schedule. But I also have to give gameloft some credit for the weapon balancing. They have been doing a pretty good job with fixing it because balance is impossible to achieve without trial and error. No one is going to get it right the first time and they really embraced that.
PSA: for those having freezing and crashing problems, deleting and re-installing the game could be an answer. Freezing issues got so bad on my iPad 4 that it actually made the whole device unresponsive which is unacceptable. Deleting and re-installing fixed the problem. And I didn't lose all my progression this time. If you don't play SP, just skip the intro (tap on the button in the top right), wait for shaders to compile and whatnot, when first mission starts, pause the game and exit to the menu, confirm that you want to exit and follow the usual steps to enter a MP game. The app will have to download the MP resources so be patient. The upside of this is that if you never use SP, these missions won't get installed and you'll save a significant amount of space on your device.
I considered that recently but didn't want to risk losing my progression. Maybe I'll give it a shot tonight. I only run into the freeze problem about once per session, but it adds up and is really annoying. Thanks.
The only time I lost my progression was because the game became corrupted while playing, never on delete and re-install. Of course, there's always a risk.
The new update apparently has useless masks, I hope there will be more weapons and maps not just useless cosmetics that we won't even see, as well be too busy killing each other.
For those of you experiencing the freezing issue: Are you all on iOS 8? What devices are you having this problem on? I'll be bringing this to the Dev team tomorrow. I just was emailed about this by another player today so thanks for any info you have!
Why are Gameloft removing all their older games from the App Store? Starfront Collision is no longer available. Be careful purchasing their new stuff if this is the level of support offered.
You do have to replay the first level, though, so it appears that your progression is lost. Once you complete that first level, you're right back where you left off before. Just like their GT Racing 2.
The stuff that is being removed is the stuff that no longer runs correctly on the latest versions of iOS. Incompatible and legacy games from any developer anywhere are in the same boat so it is not a reflection of their support. And that game was released in July 2011, surely people don't really expect unlimited support for something that doesn't even sell anymore? That's a recipe for nothing but loosing money. They can't exactly spend all their time updating their huge back catalogue to run on the latest iOS. They'd never have time to release anything new. It'd also breach the App Store developer guidelines so they don't really have a choice in the matter. People who gave previously bought it, can still download it, the cloud and purchase history takes care of that. It has to be removed to ensure new people don't buy something that doesn't work on the latest or current devices/os. It's a very routine procedure. And if anything, the right way to do it.
Running iOS 8.1 on iPhone 5S and I'm not jail-broken. I did not have this problem in the original version of MC5, but can't pinpoint which update it started with.
Yes, sometimes you can also bypass this first level. If you read some past threads I've explained what happen and it's not that though. Game started being corrupted while playing.
Apparently in the next update, gameloft will add masks(?) to the players. idk why, seemed like an out-of-the-blue idea. Would much rather have bug fixes and new maps lol
