So with controller support coming and bugs that I don't think GL cares enough about to fix, I re-downloaded MC4, since it seems more complete. I've only played it a bit and am level 13. With all the complaints about MC5 not being fair, I think my expectations for MC4 were skewed. It seems far more unfair to me. I have zero chance of even being respectable in any match. I'm always playing against level 50 players and I'm running around with the standard rifle, desperately hoping to get enough credits to get a decent weapon (I'm up to about 37,000 but don't think I'll make it to the 100,000 range. I'm actually not even sure what earns gold credit. I can't earn it in SP, right? What am I missing here? How is MC4 more fair?

To be honest, I never really felt like either game was fair or unfair.

I remember I frequently went 2 k/d with the starting rifle, until I unlocked better weapons where id go 3+ almost every game. But when unlocking those better weapons they were definitely better than the starting rifle.

In MC5 when i just started i was going around 1-2 k/d usually due to the clumsy controls in this game, but still had no problem killing people. Never considered it to be unfair. Just limited in customization.

Its not about being fair (most games constantly try to work on this), but more about how there are so many different options. Instead of using the top tier assault rifle in MC5 all the time (it is better in every stat than the lower tiers), you could be switching between different rifles in MC4. There were no tiers, just different stats. Some had high fire rate, low recoil, lower damage. Others had high damage but massive recoil. Some attachments focused on stability, others focused on accuracy. Some focused on damage, some focused on range. You had the option to build your weapon how you want. The class/skill system was much better, and weapon customization was much better.

Also a tip: Get the UFIA in that game, its amazing if you like faster fire rate and lower recoil weapons. Jolt SMG is also a great secondary that is just as good as primaries (i think it cost around 60K though). Once you start getting enough money to unlock a lot of attachments youll see what im talking about with being able to customize your weapon a lot better than in this game

No, get some attachments on the socar! It's a great gun, my personal favorite. Silencer, extended, and the ergo grip

If you want a shooter with more gun balance try out MC3. They did an amazing job with the gun balance. Be warned though, it plays way differently from mc5. Also, keep in mind that the only people playing mc4 and mc3 are the hardcore and passionate players. So go I'll probably just end up getting rekt lol

Thanks to both of you for the tips. The weapons in MC4 confuse me a bit, and the attachments confuse me more. Can all attachments be used on all weapons in their class? While they have descriptions, I'd still like to see their stats before buying. I guess if I was more of an MC vet it'd come more naturally, but ice only put significant time into 5 so far. I just like 5 a lot more so far, not that I won't keep giving 4 a shot.

Also, is the radar just not as good in 4? In 5 it includes an actual map and clear red/green colors for teams.

Yeah the radar is much better in mc5, but it gets the job done especially if you know the maps

You can tap the pie chart looking thing to turn it into the standard bar graph. But the chart doesn't tell you certain stats that the circle thingy does

Some guns have more/less/different attachments than others.

Youll get the hang of it. Since the only one youve played is MC5, itll take a bit im gonna guess haha. Both MC3 and MC4 have similar attachment systems.

I know that if you buy for ex. a tactical grip (if thats what it was called?) for ARs, it will be unlocked on all ARs that have a grip attachment, which i think every AR does. Stuff like that. I do remember you being able to see all the attachments stats for sure. Look around the screen when youre swiping between different attachments, see if theres a button you have to press or something. It should be bars similar to how the stats are shown in MC5, so if you dont see that then you need to press something. Then it should change when swiping between different attachments, even ones you havent bought

What the other guy said is right though. Most of the players on MC4 now are probably the better ones now, since the casual ones have either stopped playing or moved on to MC5.

MC5's radar is more informative of course, but not necessarily better. It should be pretty basic in my opinion

I'll have to admit to being somewhat confused.
Did those that strolled in on the coat tails of mc5 really think they could compete with level 50's that have competed online for a couple of years in this (mc4 that is) game?
    Really??
    Hmm.
I don't really know what to say.
There's a lot I agree with (giving up because of no controller support is a weak excuse for lack of skill) but come on, if level 50's are beating ya, well, they've been there a while, they kinda know what they are doin.
Complaining about those with greater experience seems a bit....well, obvious what it is really.

Oh, and by the way, all of these "balancing" updates and weapon nerfing.
If you'd all kept ye're mouth shut rather than complaining incessantly about the Red, we'd all be in a better position.
Good luck with a useless weapon.
I suppose the recon will need to be nerfed next, then the heavy. Thanks for ruining the game. I can't wait to see how much the heavy or handgun sniper dominates now.
And then the inevitable complaints and further nerfing.
Deleted, this nerfing game over and back between studio and "player" ain't worth playing.
    Ps. Mess, you the man:).

I've read some stupid things in my life but this takes the cake,Controller support should be cancelled just because 'you' don't have one eh?

Should we drop graphics on newer devices and lower the framerate too then to make it fair to people with older devices?

If you guys consider yourselves such pro's at the game then why fear people with controllers? Wouldn't you be able to dominate regardless?

I'm just glad devs aren't listening to people on this thread for the sake of collective good.

Yes, you are quite confused. Maybe instead of talking with an attitude about "those," you should have responded to me directly. I've had every MC game (and the NOVA games, and many more). Just didn't get all that into them. But yes, I liked MC5 and that got me to enjoy the genre more than any prior FPS. So because I'm disappointed in GL's first couple updates, I decided to go back to MC4 hoping that I'll appreciate it more. And I came into this thread and had a very helpful and friendly discussion to get some tips. I didn't expect to be good. I sought out ways to understand the game and get better. But then you came in with your rude, holier than thou attitude. Quite being a jerk to people. Stick to whining about nerfs and telling Mess how great he is.

    That's more like it. ;)

Who said it should be cancelled? If you're referring to me, I'm far from a pro. I just don't like playing a game on my phone against people playing on a controller. In fact, I think controllers for an iPhone game are kind of silly. But that's just me. No offense meant.

Anyway, I think the title of stupidest thing you've ever heard is a tad harsh. You're free to play whatever you like and so am I. And really, I'll be the first to admit I will probably keep playing anyway, unless MC4 really draws me in.

Sorry, I just edited my post to respond in more detail. I think people are just using the thread to agree and disagree with GL's decisions on the game.

That I can understand but why hold others who have put soo much money into controllers? Thjs is the sole reason why they exist nobody plays xcom or the room with them,FpS are where they shine.I do think getting a controller for angry birds would be outrageous but fps and tps like mc5,Bioshock and Shadowgun are far more fun and immersive with a controller.

Actually I wasn't pointing anyone out there it just feels very selfish to restrict games to our liking,If it was pay to win then I would agree with you to an extent but there's nothing wrong with controller support.

It's not that there's anything wrong with it, I just think it unlevels the playing field. I think that if people want to play an FPS with a controller, that's what consoles are for. But I'm also being a bit selfish. I don't have a console anymore and the only games I play these days are iPhone games. I don't really want to see controllers become the norm for iPhone games. For a game like MC5, I'm already quite mediocre. Throwing in a big chunk of players with controllers may tip the balance even more.

I would suggest buying a controller then if you only game on ios if possible. The experience is really a lot better with a controller.I myself play with a controller not because I wajt to win but because it gives me Superior control and hence more fun and immersion.I'm quite average myself actually,The controller is solely for fun though.I don't want to be forced to play with a touchscreen after buying a 100$ controller.
