I'd say the main problem with touch controlls in FPS (also the main reason why I'd say a controller is better for them) is that with touch controlls alone some things can't be done as well. For example: Aiming and shooting at the same time is a lot more difficult with touchcontrolls than with a controller. That's why I just want to see a phone manufacturer make a phone with shoulderbuttons: they wouldn't make the phone bigger, but they'd solve so many problems with touchcontrolls. No need to take your finger off the screen to hit the fire button or ADS anymore for example. Keeping the things people wanted to have changed and changing the things that were originally perfect isn't how you make a sequel better.
To everyone wishing we could have a better, less abbreviated campaign; the fact of the matter is that single player is not as profitable as multiplayer. Even without IAP, multiplayer keeps people playing the game and keeps them invested. I have no doubt that further down the road GL is going to come out with expansion packs that add more multiplayer maps, maybe a new game mode. These will not be free. Single player on the other hand, is not very profitable. It is more work to make a story and scripted events, especially when they use mechanics that do not add to the multiplayer portion of the game. Most people will only play this once, so there's no real need to develop it well, or add in any extra replay value. This is not just an iOS thing either, it happened with Call of Duty for a while. Luckily, CoD started losing steam, and since they have competition in the genre with other games like Battlefield, they went back and reworked the campaigns in their games to attract a wider audience that likes playing story-driven single player games. I doubt this will happen on iOS.
I'm getting a little more used to the controls but am still very bad. Don't have a whole lot of time to devote to this game right now but am enjoying it, even more so than MC4. Just unlocked the heavy and he seems leaps and bounds better than the clown they start you out with. Easy 4 out 5 stars.
That doesnt mean they change the controls to become more clumsy Not saying everything should be similar, but why change what was good in MC4 like the controls, gunplay, and customization? in my opinion, normally aiming and shooting isnt too bad because dragging your finger while shooting does work. however in this game they changed that so now when you drag your finger while shooting, you barely turn at all. It makes it so hard, and in this case youre right about i definitely agree with the second part
We are looking for a leader for Delta squad. I you'd like to be the leader please PM me http://forums.toucharcade.com/showthread.php?t=236300 Also the controls feel way more solid than MC4's. Its way more quick and responsive. And the gun play is a billion times better IMO. MC4 was a huge let down for me, so many problems. You guys just need a little bit more practice you'll get used to it! The only part of the game I am not a fan of, is the weapon tiers. It makes the game so unbalanced at times. I wish they'd just balance every gun in each class
I know I'm a little late with this (I was in venice this week and couldn't record), but for anyone interested in seeing how the game runs & looks on probably the oldest android device capable of running the game (The Galaxy S2) or interested in watching some multiplayer footage and perhaps seeing how I'd recommend playing the game (finger placement wise), here's some multiplayer gameplay: Subscribe to the TouchArcade YouTube channel
How could it be more quick and responsive if it automatically makes you almost unable to turn while shooting (hipfiring, using ADS or scope doesnt seem to be as bad). They should at least make that an option. I definitely need more practice with these new controls though, only have a 1.8 k/d here (83-45) but i think im starting to get better. Just went 20-2 lol But when i used to play MC4 it was so much smoother and responsive in my opinion. MC4 ran at a higher framerate as well. Weapon customization there was better than here definitely, i agree with the weapon tier problem. This honestly feels like a different team developed it or something.
Yes. And the tweaking of various attachments, while still there (range/accuracy vs dmg vs stealth) it's more of an upgrade system than customization. Canals is way, way too big. There's an entire side area that no on ever uses that should just be removed. Really like the construction site map, streets is essentially a streamlined Canals with verticality. Rooftops is by far the most interesting map of them all, it's a love/hate. I really do like the fog dynamic, but it wrecks my k/d. The interior is rarely occupied, unfortunately. Needs more maps and game modes. Dog Days from MC4 and MC3's Divide would be great additions. And bring back bomb squad! I also wish the skill trees were a bit less linear, you merely upgrade and everyone's setup become identical. Why not have a few branching trees with tradeoffs and such?
I have the sensitivity all the way up so I really don't find that a problem for me. But I agree they should make that an option. Everything else is 100% solid though
I play at 90% sensitivity, but when i shoot, that automatically drops to like what would be 30%, which makes aiming tough. THAT is the issue for me They also gotta do something about the nades..
A different team did develop it from MC3 and MC4 but the team has developed plenty of Gamelofts other shooters as well, most recent notable among them being NOVA 3.
Man check your device. I can shoot and aim fine. The gameplay and gunplay in this game is a million times better than in MC4. Here, every kill is satisfying as it takes skill to headshot an AI opponent that is constantly on the move as in this game unlike in MC4 where the AI sits at a single spot waiting to be dispatched. You may just be poor in this game and blaming it on gameplay.
That explains it. They probably developed games like brothers in arms 2 im guessing, that one played funny too. On MC4 i had a 3+ k/d.. and at higher ranks i was consistently going 5+ k/d at the least every single game, and getting scores like 30-1 at times. I dont know why but id always just been good at the previous modern combats, i didnt even play that often Try it. Swipe from the shooting button to the right of the screen (without shooting) and see how much you turn. Then press the shooting button and while holding it swipe to the right of the screen. You ll see you turn a lot less.
Skill to headshot an AI opponent? I'm quite sure we've played different games then. This was yet another shooting gallery in terms of AI. And no, controls are clearly worse than in previous games.
Yep, and that's on the better graphics setting. Some campaign missions run pretty bad at times, but the multiplayer is usually fine.
Yeah. I think it would be best if they gave everyone a max of 1 grenade (2 if they're using flash) & completely remove the impact from the game. Assault could get a max of 2 with the talent. Surprised they havent learned their lesson from all of the previous MC's
The rating system in this game is so completely broken. I cannot get past 2300. I should just go back to CTF and try to get the max rank or something. I'm pulling my hair out trying to go for the Number 1 spot.
I can understand some peoples concern about controllers being unfair but i actually play better with touchscreen, i think i have just got used to touch screen now. The only thing i think they should remove from the controller support is the ability to pull back on the left analog and press x (A on other controllers) to do a 180 turn around. That does give you a big advantage.
