I have checked this morning and it wasn't free, but can't really deny that screenshot :(

Ah well. I actually quite liked the sound of playing zone control, so I may give it a go.

Nice there's zone control now. Wished they would've added warfare from mc4 though.

8 Months later and the game still only has 6 multiplayer maps, two of which are remakes.

I don't care too much about the game going free to play (espechially the way they are handling it, there's really no downside), but I can't say I'm too excited by this update either.

Yep, you have to put your age in when you load the game and it states "although modern combat is free to play blah blah blah"

Happy with the veteran pack though, as it removes the timers :)

I am not going to defend GL's decision, but to be honest you can see why they have done it. I expect DH5 has shown they make more money with FTP. It's sad, but enevitable. But at the end of the day I enjoy some of the games they make, so will play them.
You may think that they are money grabbing bar stewards, but before you mouth off, we have all heard it all before. The best stance to take against FTP is to not play the games, and not comment on articles or threads about FTP games as that is just free advertising.

I think the way they separate new free2players and premium customers, and keep all f2p mechanisms out of the faces of those of us who previously owned the game, is uncommonly elegant, and makes me feel I get my money's worth from the purchase.

I wished they would have told that before so i could have bought it.I didn't care about the pricetag, would have payed 5-6 bucks for it but DON'T wanted to buy it without MFI support. Now it's there...along an energy bar timer and all the other f2p "goodies".Nice one.i'll try it nonetheless, maybe there is a way to"unlock"a full experience for a fair price but i highly doubt it.Preparing myself to delete it after a couple of minutes again because timers are what i absolutely hate most about f2p.But i have to admit that it's a nice move to keep the premium experience for existing buyers.

I definitely agree. Most of the time, a game goes free to play and the people who bought it get screwed over, but here, they give premium users: No effing energy timer,(so happy about that) a badge, around $10 worth of currency, a week of VIP (also worth about five bucks), and camos (I have no idea where to find those). So I don't feel screwed over at all. The worst thing is certainly what this says about future Modern Combat games and their pricing models.

I would like to find the camo's as well...

Also what's the best thing to buy with the currency? Elite drops or is there something else??

I bought an elite pack and it turns out camos are only for pro weapons which is a bit meh imo, but I guess it's fine.

I think drops are the way to go for spending currency, really. The power player stuff (since veterans are immune to energy timers anyways) seems pointless, so unless you want to max out some classes or something.

Uh... What happens to those of us who have uninstalled the game?

If i knew this would happen i wouldve reinstalled before the changes to be on the safe side, but no.

I would imagine you will still get the veteran pack. Your account is in the cloud, your unlocks etc, so they will have a record of you having an account before the FTP date, so you should just get it on next login :)
