FM is running with full effects on an iPad 2 at 60 FPS. I'm sure they can add some effects and AA for the iPad 3 and not see a single framerate drop. Just no resolution increase. Please. Or give me a toggle. Pretty please.
It will be an interesting one to see whether its partial or full. They do have some Apple input now and unity 4 so I am very, very curious to see how that is rendered and resolution it runs at. I funnily enough am quite confident they (tatoforever) can do it at a slightly lower fps. Sorry about that slight bend off topic. Gameloft isn't quite as good at optimising so full retina with effects is unlikely but a variation somewhere between iPad 2 and iPad 3 resolution might just be possible.
I'm very much hoping its less arcadey than the rest. It's going for a serious kinda vibe in the trailer. I'd very much like to see some, even a bit, of a serious story that I actually care a bit about. Something a bit more grown up or with a bit more impact other than large explosions. Edit. Take a pat on the back anyway. IGN has caught me out a lot of times with release dates. I eventually figured that when they don't know the date, they just put in the last day of that particular season of the particular year it is announced for. Anyway, iTunes connect is probably closed on that particular day. Even the Apple approval and launch process gets a week off at Christmas. And I don't think they'll be back by the 30th.
And that's exactly what I'm hoping for, none of this NOVA 3 full retina + full framerate dropfest crap. And Wild Blood...oh god there is an example of retina resolution ruining a game. /off topic I think the iPad 2 and 4s will see full effects, though. Think about it. When they started development the A5 was the proverbial king of the hill. Which just leads me back to my previous point that I can't seem to drop that I want to see full effects (especially shadow and lighting) instead of uber high resolution that will result in an average of 25 fps. ok for real end of off topic
So why can't they just create games for the iPad 3 that runs on the same resolution, and hence has the same effects, as the iPad 2? Or give gamers the choice? I have an iPad 2 and from what I gather, the iPad 2 is a more potent gaming device than the iPad 3 and any other Android tablet out there.
Time for release date punts. Based on Nova 3 and Wild Blood, we saw the release of the game within a month of the teaser trailer. This, we start off with a gameplay trailer (or is it not?), so I think a mid-October release date looks to be on the cards. Btw, I am an Asian from an equatorial country. When does 'fall' end? November?
September 22nd to December 21st is the official dates for fall this year. iTunes connect usually shuts down for a week around the 22nd December, so it'll have to be out before then.
The a5x chip simply doesn't have the power to run AA effects at 2048 x 1536 screen resolution without lag or serious drops in frame rate. Which is a pity really. What you say there is the best solution to the problem. Maybe a resolution somewhere between the iPad 2 and iPad 3 would work better for a lot of future games and cause less of a strain on the chip. A lot of current games with tags that say iPad retina support are only working at partial iPad 3 resolution. I personally am very glad I stuck with the iPad 2. NOVA 3 kinda proved I made the right choice. I think MC4 will support that idea as well.
But isn't fall autumn? I live in England, and I always consider autumn to end around late November, so a December release would be wrong
I saw the trailer, I'm really liking the serious vibe to it, and it looks like I will actually care about and enjoy the campaign. Wasn't a fan of the MC3 campaign.
Soo anyone counting on controllable kill streaks? Like flying those futuristic helicopters? That is if they are trying to be like COD as much as possible. Also, the graphics should be what Mc3 was to Nova 2. Can't really tell from the video...
Yeah , we'll don't get your hopes up. Helicopters would be a big upgrade to MC series. But I would like controllae killstreaks and I'm waiting on snipers. We'll see.
It depends on cultural definition but it begins on the autumnal equinox in september and winter (which follows autumn, or fall in the USA) begins "in the Northern Hemisphere, depending on the year, this corresponds to the period between 21 or 22 December".(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Winter) So a December release is more than possible if defined as a a fall launch.
I wouldn't be surprised if they added controllable killstreaks, but I doubt they'd go that far. Controlling the guns of the heli? Ok, but controlling the heli itselft? Unlikely. I guess they could add like a predator missile and an AC130 though.
I love how San comes out of nowhere on the Gameloft threads to tease us like this when we least expect it
