I remember the VCR well. As a matter of fact, DVD movies are typically filmed at 26 FPS. It's not applicable at all; one is interactive and reflex based, the other is merely passive viewing entertainment.
Why should we care about past? Technology is changing so fast these days, if you can't keep up with it you are not going to have a good sales. Everything has to be on smooth framerates, not saying everything has to be full max 60 fps, but they really should not have frame drop every single second you move around or shoot.
Nova3, Batman and Wild Blood, all these 3 titles lag with my Iphone4s, at the beginning especially then they run quite well! However it's a great result considering Iphone4s has 512mb ram(almost 300 when I start a game) and devices like Note 2 with 2gb has minor performance(see "need for speed Most Wanted"). Iphone 5 users experimented the lag or these titles run smooth?
It is smooth compared to what I get. I can see how you with your iPad 4 think that's not smooth, but after playing with iPod I'd think that's the smoothest framerate you can get
I play on an iPad 2, and to me that gameplay looked smooth. There weren't any noticeable frame rate drops. If you think that is enough lag to make your gameplay suffer, then you just suck at the game.
No one said they "suck" at the game... It just takes away the "fun" That's why I never enjoyed Skyrim on ps3. It lags every time. on pc is 60 fps locked most of times. And also minecraft, lags and frame drops makes huge differences and it takes away the fun.
In my honest opinion, I believe mobile gaming has reached the stage of needing to be more properly optimized. I am talking about every game. I see mobile gaming almost like PC gaming. There are different devices, each with their own amount of power. Gameloft should really recognize this and in stead of autmoaitcally trying to adjust optimization (ex: detail level, amount of motion blur, and other effects) they should let the players decide for themselves with graphic settings. I know this exists on mobile games already, but It still is not good enough and gameloft who presumes to be the most effective company at developing graphic-intensive mobile games in large numbers should really delve into this concept. This I believe would truly resolve many of the conflicts that older device users confront every time they try to play a new game, but do not perform as best as they could be able to.
Problem is.. They go and trying to optimize it, and when it reaches certain point, they just think its enough
Well I play the iphone 4S sometimes and games like Nova 3, mc3 run very well. I think the framerates are just fine and I enjoy the games. If we're going to be technical, playing a pc game on a good rig, will have better framerates obviously but being able to play console type games on a mobile device is pretty awesome. Optimization says a lot when it comes to developers. A great game graphically and gameplay wise like Dead space runs like butter on my ipod 4G, Codwaw (although an older game) still runs great only using 60 mb for 4 large maps and co-op mp. Runs better than the newer black ops zombies which takes up almost 800 mb. Proper optimization can be done, only if the developer is willling to put the time into it.
I think that amount of "lag" would only make me better since it's a lot less than on iPod. Unless you're talking about those other guys
Does anybody actually talk about MC4 here anymore or is it just a general Gameloft, effects, lag, game development, device performance, YouTube commentary, optimisation, graphics and everything else possible thread? I had heard something on the grapevine about the dev diary 2 but i seem to be in the wrong thread.
Well, when I referenced game development in my previous post, I meant to regard Modern Combat 4 and how I think their should graphic settings. You are correct however, I do think lag regarding other games is a frivolity in the premise of a modern combat 4 thread. The dev diary 2 I believe should be released either this Tuesday or the following. The Monday after the next dev diary should be the release of the actual game. This is my own speculation however, so do not solidify my words.
It would be a Thursday, actually. Gameloft never releases games on Mondays, always Wednesday night to snag the editors choice.
I believe the next diary should be released this Tuesday, with the game coming out on the 22nd. That would fit the GL timeline, not to mention that fact that many people will have part of the week off due to Thanksgiving. I think the Diary will be released this week because in the description of the concept art it says that Gameloft wants to give their fans a "little treat before the new week begins with surprises and updates." However, this is all pure speculation, and Gameloft probably just said what they said on their website to screw with us. Knowing GL, MC4 will probably release the Thursday before Fall ends.
I don't see any news or even a leaked info about released date.. Probably end of this month or next month.. Gahhhhhh 2 more days.. Just can't wait
Talking about lag and optimization do have something to do with Modern combat 4 because it was an issue with Nova 3, Mc3 on some devices. I don't mind talking about these issues on this thread because it is important for this game and future games in general.
