Oh yes I did I love gaming on the iPhone (everything except for FPS) mainly because of the controls. Think about it, how can you truly play a FPS on a touch screen? You kind of need at least 1 more thumb. I don't understand why devs keep making FPS on iOS. You have to take a thumb off the aim or move buttons to shoot, it's like saying stay right there so I can shoot you. If I'm wrong please correct me but I've tried every FPS there is on iOS and everyone one of them require another thumb
You just can't play it. You do know you can hold down the fire button and aim at the same thumb? That makes you able to run...
I probably will play on an iPod for a week or two before I get a new device(IF I get one). Will show you just how bad iPod is when my skill level jumps haha
No offense, but you obviously haven't played enough iOS FPS. You get used to it, to the point where it becomes natural and you not even think about the controls. Besides, if you don't like the original setup you can customize the button sizes and placements.
No offense taken Maybe I haven't played enough to get used to it, I'm a huge cod fan which is probably why I'll never get used to FPS on iPhone. I'm way to used to real controls. Don't get me wrong but I would love it if mc series felt like second nature to me- especially mc4 because it looks like its going to be the closest to cod were going to get on the iPhone. I've tried the first 3 in the series and never went past the first few missions because I couldn't get used to the controls but I keep buying them hoping I will catch on (but I don't) I don't know how old you are but I grew up with controllers and now I'm 40, I think if I still can't get used to it then it might be a little late for me
Touch controls on iOS is pretty great. It's good but there is few problems. -throwing gernade -KNIFING -aim down sight Other than that other controls works fine... I think Gameloft will never solve knifing problem. Button just doesn't response well enough. And aim down sight takes way too much time.. Where it comes to the point it's almost pointless to use them. Hip fire is crazy in mc3. They gotta fix that up. I can kill enemies that is like almost other side of the map with guns with grips.
I prefer controllers for FPS too. But seriously it's not iOS, it's you. Again, no offense but if you re-position the buttons to your liking, and really learn how to use them, it's plenty effective. Move the spring button to a more accessible place, make the buttons bigger, whatever helps. Remember that once you start shooting you can still move your thumb around and aim while shooting. Takes some getting used to but the controls are fine. Also, try gyroscope, eliminates your apparent problem of not having a third thumb. Controller --- two thumbs, one on left stick, one on everything else so you can move, aim, and shoot simutaniously. Gyroscope -- one thumb on left "stick", one on everything else, and your devices accelerometer to aim whilst doing everything else. Try it.
True that , working man, Gameloft has done a great job of making a fps on iOS and it works great. I play on pc with a controller and keyboard and mouse also and I find touch controls easily adaptable. I find a great sense of control on iOS. Modern combat is just so much fun on iOS, that's why it has such a great following.
Won't argue with that. I have tried the gyroscope option but it felt way to sensitive for me, my hands aren't as steady as the used to be, I'm going to redownload one of them now and see if I can force myself to stick with it until it grows on me because like I said mc4 looks like its going to be be the cod for iOS and I do really want to play it but it would be so much better if I could actually play it, if you know what I mean. Which mc do you guys think I should give another go at mc2 or 3?
If you have an iPhone 4 + device, mc3 is easier controls in my opinion, go with that.. My advice is to play through the entire campaign on easy and just learn it. And as for being too sensitive, in the pause menu you can find sensitivity settings under control options. Low sensitivity is good for gyro scope. This is coming from someone who has multiple attention disorders resulting in very unsteady hands, so I do understand the issues there. Took me a few days to learn MC controls but than again, it took my awhile to master CoD with a controller too. Just gotta get used to it.
Well then obviously you don't have enough experience. Most of us here have reached rank 90 in Mc3 multiplayer and are close to rank 60-80 on Mc2. My tip is to just play and customize your controls. Try both Mc3 and Mc2. Mc3 is easier, but it also lags more and has more hackers. I say try both. Also remember this: You can hold fire and aim with the same thumb so you can hipfire and move while shooting. Yes, ADS takes way too much time. It's not a control problem though. Hipfiring needs to be reduced in MC3. Make crosshairs wider like in MC2. Grenades are not a big problem(except in MC2), but knifing does need fixing. It'll be easy with the auto-knife though. Not gonna agree with gyro cause I suck with it, but yeah, it's him not the game. MC2 and MC3 both. MC2 is more simple, but at the same time it may be too tough as it's so strategic. But MC3 has too many hackers and lag(depending on your device). I say try both and see which one you like more. As an iPod user, I like MC2 more, because it's more balanced between iPad and iPod users. In MC3 the gap between the iPod and other devices is huge. It's so unfair and gives the other devices a huge advantage
