    Look out your window.
No one wants iPod compatibility more than me, I definately still want it but only if it runs well.

I think we're both asking too much for this to run well, see Mc3.... Hopefully it will be better optimized and we'll get lucky for this to run o.k. At least it's better than nothing for the time being.

Yeah I know. Only hope is if they actually try and drop some effects and stuff on iPod version. I'd love it if they'd just lose the pretty stuff and make it run well on older devices

Mark my word. This game will run on iPod 4. So much people iPod. Gameloft would miss big time to make money if they don't support iPod 4

They'll obviously support. Its a no brainer sales-wise. The question is will it run SMOOTHLY. Mc3 is absolutely unbearably laggy now. Never even got into nova 3 cuz it wouldn't run. Unless the make some efforts it won't matter if they support it, it won't be very enjoyable.

This is exactly what I think they will do.
Too many iPod touch 4's out there to exclude them but it will be the absolute minimum requirement and have ragdoll and effects (depth of field, sprint blur, etc.) turned off.

As long as its not foggy like NOVA 3. Played that recently on touch 4 and I was quite stunned at how limited the field of vision is in it. 4s and iPad 2 (upwards) players have a huge advantage online because of it.

Removing support for a4 devices, as you said, would solve the problem for a while anyway as a5 or higher ios6 jailbreak is a good bit away as yet.
That unfortunately wouldn't work fully if they are supported.
A4 powered devices on iOS 6 can be jailbroken already.

God. You think that's a disadvantage, try playing mc3. NOVA's bad enough but at least it's manuavareble

Tried that as well. Lag and stuttering seems the problem with MC 3 on touch 4. Much moreso than NOVA 3.
But then again, the server lag is bad on any device.

Forget server lag it's the stuttering that gets me.

2 year old a4 device with about 10mb of ram while playing... It's a bitch to compete anymore.

Glad you've tried it though, you get an idea why I won't be competing for leaderboards position anymore

Same for me. Just hate the lag. The worst lag is first hit lag. If another guy hits you first(which is likely with the lag), it'll freeze for half a second, still too long to survive

You could be an excellent player but if you have an A4 device, you will still get your butt kicked by a good player on an iphone, newer iPad.

I noticed a huge difference playing on Mc2. Which I played well and then going to Mc3, struggling to have an even K/D on games.

So true. And to prove it, before the lag I was #6 on the leaderboards with a 2.40 k/d, the second the update added lag --- my game went to shit, dropped out of leaderboards, down to 1.70 kd and almost never got any nukes afterwards although my rushing is also to blame for that.

Not making excuses just sayin, it doesn't matter how good you are, no one can do well with that much lag..

Can you guys explain this lag to me? Isn't lag to do with internet connection or are you talking about drops in framerate on older devices?

I only have modern combat 2 and didn't noticed a difference when playing on my iphone 4 or ipad 3 other than the no sound glitch since ios 6. Or though mc2s last update was in July 2011 so I guess not optimised for newer devices for me to notice any difference in comparison to older devices? I do notice a slight difference on sky gamblers air supremacy between the two devices though.

Also how well will mc4 play on my ipad 3? I'd be pretty pissed if I get a disadvantage playing and the device is not even a year old. I don't feel its no slouch with 1gb ram and the a5x processor with quad core graphics but I have a feeling it will start to show its age already compared to the iphone 5 and with news of the ipad mini and possible revised ipad 3 around the corner. Or should the ipad 3 be good for awhile?

They're talking about device lag, and probably subsequent lag through connection, though that isn't as much of a big deal.

The older devices have significant trouble running games at a steady framerate, and jumpy frams mixed with super fast hackers is enough to get any rage-quitting.

MC2 is an older game, made for the older devices back when they were new, so more devices can run the game well, and obviously upper class devices like you mentioned should have no problem running things like MC2.

Your devices *should* be fine for MC4. If an iPhone 4 can't run the game, there is hardly any chance an iPhone 3GS or iPod Touch 4G will either. And the iPad 3 is currently the top iPad in Apple's range, so it should have no problem running MC4. The rumoured revisions of iPad are merely renditions with the new Lightning port. And of course the iPhone 5 will outstrip everything else, with a smaller screen area (than iPads) and a far superior processor.

Yep. When I first got Mc3, I wasn't that good, but at least there was no lag. I was finally getting nukes at January/February and then they update... Lag basically started from there. And with updates it has only gone worse with each new one. I used to be good, but now I can't play it at all, yet when I go to MC2 I only get killed by nades :p

    You're kd is under 1.5 now :D

Device lag. 256mb ram... Sure there's more server lag nowadays too, but not only that we also get device lag which used to be small, but has increased with updates

I was reading the comment on Gameloft's dev diary, and I can assume that when they game actually comes out... Oh god. I am ready for all these idiots will complain how game lags on their iPod 4.
Hope they don't rate the game 1 star just caz it doesn't work on their devices. That's what happened to nova 3, not that I liked the game but it wasn't for lower devices and people keep putting up 1 star rating all the time.
