Dunno really, the affect of the gpu and ram kicks in more on the larger screen so its hard to guess at this stage. iPad 1 ram will be a major issue to running game well on it though unfortunately for those that have it. My iPad 2 is even starting to concern me a bit in relation to upcoming games.
Isn't the 5 (a6 chip) more than double the 4s there? I'm sure that qualifies as more than marginal. Here's hoping the a5 is the target optimisation for mc4.
Wow, really? I don't have any iPad, so I can't test it. I hope that that's due to the game and not to the hardware...
Triangle texture and poly tests (sorry for all these posts) And a framerate test at native res. not surprising the iPad drops a ton here. Edit: the app is driving me crazy. Can't even post multiple pics at once so I have to spam all this stuff in like 5 posts. Edit: and of course two of the benchmarks don't pop up. Yes. I shall never hear the end of this.
Hey...my iPad can't even push 3D games at native resolution without reducing effects and dropping 20fps, so welcome to the club.
Here's iPad 3 in the benchmarks with native resolution. Watch my ego drop 20% And the terrible thing is that the gpu is already ridiculously powerful...along with the a6 it's the best for mobiles by a mile but it still cannot push 1536p...so how again will apple have the iPad 4 push the resolution well without overheating the device even more? I can't wait to see what they come up with. Oh, wait...if you want to put your iPad 4 into "gaming mode", you can use the brand new Apple iPad Gaming Apparatus Cooldown accessory! At only $149.99 it's a steal and will prevent your iPad from melting in your hands.
Without the native resolution your iPad still kicks my 4S's shiny metal ass, as long as every devs give you the option to change between different resolutions. Anyway, it's a pleasure to be welcomed to the club!
I don't think you'd notice it normally. I mean mc3 for the most part played well. It's just having the iPad 2 showed the differences to me. I wouldn't say the 4s is bad either, the iPad 2 was just a beast when it launched. I'm thinking, though I could be wrong, that while mc4 was in development, the iPad 2 and the 4s were the benchmark devices for the best visuals (minus retina on ipad 2 of course) and performance. The lower devices will have depth of field and ragdoll turned off I reckon to improve performance. I would guess 4s and iPad 2 will have the best overall game package though. With iPad 3 (at half resolution) and iPhone 5 just plain smoother fps.
Very true, god it's so annoying not knowing if your device can run a game, I've never had this before really, at least about a game I care abou anyway. When I can afford to buy the next iPad whatever it will be, I MUST get it. Even if mc4 runs on iPad 1, hardly any other new games will
Hell will freeze over before a major dev like Gameloft launches a game without being able to brag about full retina support. And I highly doubt it will launch with a toggle like N3 did. No, I think the i5 is the best device to play on, shame I can't stand small screens.
The 4S doesn't suck, still a very good mobile gaming device. Compared to the ipod4G, it is night and day.
Just got home after cross country, and HOLY CRAP that trailer is awesome. Along with some others, I think a multiplayer diary will be released Thusday, and the game with release either 1 or 2 weeks after that, on the 25th or on the 1st.
Look at the benchmarks a few pages back. I was of the same opinion until I looked them up and posted them...
