Unfortunately yes the framerate is completely shot and just jumping all over the place. I think I've gone slightly blind after half an hour of trying to play. And quite a bad headache. Lag is high as well. Don't quite understand why framerate has taken such a massive hit even on iPad 4 and iPhone 5. I'm sure it'll be sorted soon enough though.
Yeah, the framerate took a hit now that it's full retina. I was hoping for a better optimization but... Well gameloft....
These sort of posts give me a headache, because you guys are saying the game is completely ruined just cause you're getting a little lag after the update. C'mon, the game just got updated! Of course it'll have server lag at first. Give it a few days and if it hasn't slowed down, then it's definitely the game and not the servers. You're just jumping to conclusions too fast. I'm lagging even more than usually and they didn't add retina to my device. I bet it's just the servers which are packed. Unless of course Gameloft got lazy with optimisation again. Then it's the retina. But seriously, everyones lagging more now. It should be the servers that lag.
Servers rarely effect framerate on iPad 4, if ever. And they sure as hell don't effect the campaigns framerate. Feels like I'm on my iPod and that's not tolerable on this device.
Partly. But then explain the campaign mode. Framerate is shyt there too. Every time a grenade goes off in my face - framerate slows to like 15 FPS. Once it dipped to single digits. This is completely unacceptable. If the framerate really is going to take this much of a hit when adding retina, then at least give us a toggle and graphics options like AA and shadows.
I edited the post before you guys replied and said that it's possible that it happened. But you can't denie that servers are slow as well.
I get your point fully. Just to be clear though, the games not ruined at all, I certainly didn't want to give that impression at all. There is lag of course, to be expected, but there is also severe framerate issues that are the surprising part, for me at least anyway. I'm confident it'll be fixed soon, its just a bit odd that it slipped through testing. Its not the lag that's the real difficulty, its the jaggedness in movement and performance dip, framerate just decreased so much, I'd estimate well below 15, 10 even. (Only a guess, no test done yet) But again, it will be fixed I'm sure quite quickly. Its just my first experience of bad framerate in quite a long time and framerate is pretty key to this kind of game.
Bad news.. I have just tested MC using both ipad2 and ipad4. I chose the same map - Alert. There is a truck on the bridge where some ppl hide inside. You can notice there is somekind of fog/ smog You look through. I tried to swipe ( aim )there on both devices and I noticed that my ipad 4 has a dramatic slowdown in this spot. My old iPad2 could handle it much better! I checked other maps and what's strange.. I noticed that now the performance is better on my ipad2! :/ so there is surely something wrong with the update.. If You have a chance test it the same way. I haven't test it yet on ipad3.. But I bet the performance would be even worse than on ipad 4...
Horrible frame rate with the new ipad 4. Both campaign and multiplayer. Seriously they don't test this stuff, it's barely playable at times. Still can't optimize for retina iPads? Seriously? NOVA 3 runs beautifully as does MC 3. Just tone down that damn res on the explosions and such. Why on earth would they think a first person shooter would be playable at 15-20 FPS now?
