You mean GC? If so, yeah you could write messages when you friend request someone. It's all good though. If you ever got SF4 volt, hit me up!

When mc3 comes out it would be cool to do the skype chat, where you can play online and chat to other players. I'm just wondering if it would lag? I have a 4G 32 gb ipod. Has anybody tried this with MC2??

Well, lets just hope they implement voice chat in online multiplayer. With the option to mute players of course:D

I did try it on my iPhone 4 and it works fine. I don't think it's such a great idea on the iPod touch as it has much less RAM. It worked with no lag on iPad 2, but that thing is a beast.

Yeah. As great an idea as it sounds, voice chat requires alot of energy and power from a device. I would rather have all my power focused on running the game.

Yeah, you are probably right. And with next gen graphics, older devices need all the help they can get to run the game.

In the clan I was in, I managed this on ipod 3rd gen with phonespeex app backgrounded via backgrounder and computer as server, it works fine albeit with just the slightest bit of lag .
So I'm pretty sure its possible, though its probably gonna sap lots of power .

Thanks jumpman and everyone for your ideas and thoughts on voice chat. With the next gen graphics, who knows how it will run. The iPod I have , 4g 32 gb, is a current device. Older devices like 2G and 3G probably will be unable to handle voice chat on an unreal engine or maybe gamelofts engine in mc3.

I think voice chat doesen't make as much sense on the iPod Touch 3G, since it has no built in microphone, so alot less people would use the feature there (only those with the right headphones, and then again, only a few of those people would actually own the game and use the feature)

Voice chat is mostly useless even on consoles unless you're really lucky to get in a good team. Imagine that on iDevices, it would be screaming hell for me. And as for "old devices" go, I think iPod touch 3G and iPhone 3GS will handle voice and game at the same time better than 4G. They have lower res and same amount of RAM. RAM really matters when we're talking about these things, and for its resolution, 4th gen just needs more RAM.

I think most of your questions are answered if you go back to the previous pages. According to TouchGen, An intense 13-missions campaign with impressive cinematics and memorable,
    • multiplayer with 12 players, 6 maps and 6 different modes.
    • A ranking system with more than 90 experience ranks.
    • High-tech modern weaponry with modifications and attachments.
