Probably! I think the big comparison would be Unity vs Unreal. I think Unity comes out on top in that battle, but a developer told me that Unreal is still new and to give some time; so, I will.
My point here is, that if gameloft would use some other engine, but the game would look exactly the same as it does now, people would praise the graphics alot more even though there is no reason to. Gamelofts engine is fine, get over it. It's not like they don't constantly update it from game to game (with an exception of Silent Ops?).
Your friend has it right. While Gameloft FPS games are THE best around (on the devices they're created for) they are nowhere near as good, nor full featured as a console release. Gameloft is notorious for rarely updating, having some bugs, reusing art assets, wonky animation and other stuff that's not up to snuff. I do enjoy the Gameloft games, and the 7 bucks seems like such a great deal compared to a 60 dollar game...but really? This is nowhere near what you would find from a console title with the stature of Battlefield, Halo, Rage or any other premier title. Batman Arkham City, Dark Souls, Vanquish, Gears or War 3, Shadows of the Damned, Crysis 2 are all solid proof of this. I don't fault your outlook - but I fault that you convey a mobile game as being a thoroughbred showpiece in comparison.
Doubt it. Gameloft rarely patches games. Let alone, with significant DLC. It took a ton of time to get anything remotely resembling a dungeon into Order & Chaos. Still, it's been shoddy work on Gamelofts' end.
Well I disagree. They did actually patch Mc2 quite a bit. Even fixed the hacking, it was eventually hacked again but Gameloft didn't bother addressing this because Mc3 was announced. If Gameloft knows their game is going to be a big money maker, ie, Mc3. I will bet they will maintain this and update it on a regular basis. Some other titles like Silent Ops, or Back Stab, Probably wouldn't even consider an update.
If you read all of my posts, I cover that. I realize that a mobile device has its limits and I stated that there are amazing AAA titles on the console, but being a gamer for so long and also studying ECON, I see trends and where games/gamers are heading. I think ultimately what I'm saying is a person can ALMOST get the full experience of a game like MW3 on their mobile device, which why I asked earlier how is MC3 any more shallow than MW3? I don't live in an apple distorted world, but I can sort of predict where things are going due to past events, not only in gaming but almost everything in life. To reiterate once again, I get that there are games like BF3, Elder Scrolls, and ME 1&2 on console. I also get that there are amazing games on the iOS device (I mentioned quit a few earlier) that are pulling hardcore gamers, LIKE MYSELF, further away from consoles. I also never said that I had completely given up on consoles either. I just recognize that the touch experience has something special to offer. Two years ago, I would've said the iOS platform was a joke, but here I am. Again, I truly think great gaming comes down to the user experience and iOS has surely delivered on that. Why did I love Elder Scrolls, Mass Effect, and Gears? Not only for great visuals but because the user experience was amazing. Yes, you can't get everything console on a mobile whatever, but they are definitely encroaching on that territory. In the end, I will still have my 360 whenever I need to play a game like Mass Effect, but I will have my iPod for everything else. To rant a little more, i will say that accessibility is huge. I'm in college and most people don't play their console systems at all or only a little. Actually most use their phones for the mobile gaming. So again accessibility + an actually, very good touch exp. + ever improving gpu and cpu and graphics = a pretty strong competitor, no matter how you look at it. Is it all there yet, no!
but this is MC3. This is gameloft's moneymaker. Do you know how long MC2 stayed on the charts?!?!? at 7 bucks too! plus, Gameloft patched that so...
I forgot to add this! I think someone said that my friend was right about being able to use a console on a bigger screen. My response to that is your eyes become accustomed to any size screen once you've been using it for a while. Also once better and more stable games come out airplay (iOS) and general TV-WiFi syncing (android) will be another answer. Will they be a definitive answer; probably not.
They patched it several months ago, when they added a couple DLC Evens and improvements. It was out last October, so it went many months without a fix...
but that's cuz of MC3 isn't it? and until earlier this year, it didn't need one. I believe it wasn't hacked till... spring?
Gameloft has put a lot of effort into mc2. Updated the game 3 times prior to it being hacked again, by that time, mc3 was well into their plans. So they actually cared about that game. So when Mc3 makes a bundle and hits the top of the charts, they will monitor and update the game.
keep this thread at the top ps gameloft should release a new trailer soon, they usually always have a launch trailer
Guys go to slide to play and scroll all the way to the new mc3 video. Can't post it rite now but go take a look. Its pretty awesome
I'm worried about control by now, looks like default scheme will be not-fixed analog stick and right side aiming. I hope there will be MC2 scheme.
There probably will be. Gamelofts FPSs usually have quite a few controll schemes. In 9mm the default setting was a not-fixed anaöpg stock but you could fix it in the options! It's been posted a few pages back. (I'm assuming you mean this video: ) Subscribe to the TouchArcade YouTube channel I really hope all missions have an intro like that and that that isn't just the video when you open up the game.
I <3 "Modern Combat 3" !! Holy guacamole, that looks awesomeorz!! Thursday can't get here quick enough .... Question: wiil MP ranking carry over from MC2 ?
@Der Kleine That intro vid you mentioned is pretty short (reminds me of the ones in MW) so hopefully they have one before every level. It creates a nice feel. Why would they do that
im gonna wake up in australia at around 2 am in the morning to play this right through to dawn then recharge and play at school lol
If you look at the video closely you'll notice that they didn't show the full intro video, but fade to the gameplay before the video ends.
