If it had restrictions with no iPod touch 4, that also meant iPad 1 and iPhone 3GS. They all have 256mb of RAM. Hopefully they optimized for dual core too, and I'm talking about real optimizations not just better performance.
There will be app purchases...This sucks (In french):http://www.pocketgamer.fr/news/4211-preview-de-modern-combat-3-fallen-nation.html "Mais ces crédits pourront également être achetés via des achats intégrés lors dune mise à jour prévue pour peu de temps après la sortie."
But it certainly doesn't help them, especially from a hardcore/purist gamer's point of view. I hate IAP with a fiery passion, so I understand where you're coming from james2c. I had to deal with modders and hackers on Call of Duty and now I have to deal with IAP.
I read the article, and it does give you the option to purchase credits but you can also earn them through gameplay. In other words, you don't have to pay for IAP's just earn your bonuses. Their are a lot of games where you can buy your weapons but I prefer to just earn them. I never pay for IAP's.
From what I know (I haven't read what was written in that link you posted) there will only be map packs, wich is fine: No new maps isn't as good as new maps, but you'll have to pay for them.
I agree 100% with you like I said in my earlier post. But here's the thing Gameloft can unfortunately make a pretty penny selling IAP to the casual/semi casual gamer. I'm also quite sure that hardcore gamers take advantage if the IAP as well. The whole point of buying these games is to put in the time, increase your skill level, and truly earn your place in the high ranks. With IAP it's easy to question plenty of people who are doing well in the game.
I don't know if his concern is about he himself having to purchase IAP, but having to deal with other people using them to get ahead. That's why I made the modding analogy. Also, I know this is a game, so don't get me wrong, but this just continues to support mediocrity. It's like the lets give everybody a trophy situation when in reality only one person or one team has actually earned it. I've had this discussion way too many times.
I think it's a waste of money and your also not thoroughly enjoying the game by purchasing IAP's and levelling up so quickly. The whole point is to enjoy the game, every step of the way. That's how I play. Anyways, I translated that article from James2c.... From Pocket Gamer FR A few weeks for the next FPS Gameloft, we were able to get their hands on the highly anticipated sequel to the series of Modern Combat. The big thing about Modern Combat 2 was its multiplayer mode. Gameloft has understood and this third episode, most of the news is at this level. We played a good hour in multiplayer mode on three different cards and the beginning of the solo campaign. Our impressions. Graphically first, Modern Combat will always use the 3 graphics engine, Gameloft, but an improved version compared to previous episodes. It is a little below a Shadowgun in terms of visual finesse, but where the engine is doing very well MC3 is the feeling of openness that gives the levels. The passages on the roofs of building in the city in particular leaves a pleasant feeling of space and rare games on iOS. But most of the new Modern Combat 3 is in the game content, in terms of multiplayer. MC will propose to its release six cards 7 different game modes. Beyond the traditional methods of team death-match (the team that made the most deaths at the end of time wins), some more strategic forms are emerging. In the mode "capture and hold", the objective is to control three specific points on the map, and keep them as long as possible. Each controlled point earns points every second, and the first team to 200 points wins. When the card is considered a little, the on-screen status and remote control points can easily reach the place of action. Gameplay quite convincing. The other game mode we were able to test some length is the bomb mode, inspired by Counter-Strike. The principle is almost the same: a team must pick up the bomb and put it in a specific location on the map. The other team must prevent the bomb is placed, or defuse it before it exploded. Unlike CS, it reappears a few seconds after death. The against-terrorists who have the advantage of the defense, this game mode seemed to state quite unbalanced. Hopefully Gameloft benefits of development in recent weeks to adjust this, this game mode has proven itself in other games. In addition to these modes of play, the other big news of Modern Combat is the aspect of persistent multiplayer mode. Over the games online, you gain experience and progress in the 100 ranks as the game includes. Each kill reported some experience, with bonuses for some specific actions (revenge, defense / attack a target, shot in the head, etc.).. Each level unlocks new items such as weapons kits, improvements in stats (speed reloading or moving), weapons, accessories or temporary bonus to activate during the game (radar, airstrike, automatic turret, etc. .). All these stats are recorded and available for the game or in part from the site of Gameloft Live, support of all the multiplayer aspect of Modern Combat. The overall gaming experience in multi was very convincing. On an hour, we had only a few small lag, which is acceptable. If the technical quality of the title should be a priori good appointment, the big issue that remains unresolved is balancing it all, especially because of bonuses to unlock. Once unlocked, the bonus must be purchased with credits earned in multiplayer or solo. However, these credits may also be purchased through purchases included in a update scheduled for shortly after the release. Given the power of certain bonuses, hope Gameloft has adequately addressed the risk of imbalance that could result. A final word on the solo, which should be no surprise. The wicked terrorist PCR (alliance Pakistan, Korea, Russia) attacked the U.S. and we Gentiles, American soldier, will have to save the world (well the U.S.) which is invaded. Level gameplay, there is a campaign very linear and scripted highlighting the staging, a hallmark of Modern Combat and its model, Call of Duty. Gameloft announces five to six hours of play for an average player campaign and some replayability through four levels of difficulty. Modern Combat 3: Fallen Nation is scheduled for October 27 on the iPhone (3G and above) and iPad. The Android version released it later, but usually before Christmas. So: Team Death Match Death Match Capture and Hold = Domination Bomb Mode = Search and Destroy In regards to IAP: It seems as if IAP will be available shortly after the release in an update. Even Pocket gamer is concerned about the imbalance IAP may play in multiplayer due to the power of some bonuses. What would make this game perfect: No IAP especially if there is no balance. Game Center Integration (meaning using GC for leaderboards and achievements only, not lobbies)
Thanks a lot for the translation johny. Well I'm kinda disappointed because the "search and destroy" mode won't be like COD or CS, because you respawn after few seconds, that just sux. But anyway really can't wait for this
there truly is nothing wrong with some IAP coming in during an update. Earn it yourself and it'll make no difference. Considering it's an update, that also gives u time to get the same things as someone who doesnt play before the update and then buys the IAP. As far as I can tell, it's for later adopters to catch up to the rest of us instead of getting shit on.
Your welcome, Kleman. This game will rock, it has already improved upon the good qualities of Mc2 and added better graphics and more gameplay.
Hopefully that is the case, but who is to say how long Gameloft waits to release the update. Maybe they should implement a prestige system, so that you are reset back to basic equipment. This works in COD; most of the hardcore that I know generally decide to prestige. Nonetheless, i am looking forward to this game. I was just adding my 2 cents (consumer/player feedback) on what I think would make it better.
Before anyone asks, I'd like to make it clear that google translate always translates iPhone 3GS to iPhone 3G (for some reason)
In the iphone4 gameplay video, it seemed to lag a bit. Hopefully, i hope it runs smooth.because I really hate lags.
It'll probably be a little laggy, at least from time to time. I've never played on a platform where there wasn't at least some lag. I just hope it generally runs smoothly. 100% lag free really is asking a lot.
