Appspy did a great job =).. I am going to look at his comments.. when this game ships it is going to evolve as we go.. just as Necro did for 6 months!
The appspy review is splendid. Shows begining gameplay, low level gameplay. God! This is going to be stellar Ryan! Everyone should check it out.
Easily the funniest thing I've heard all week. -- It would be neat if apple gave developers a status bar on there submission so they can see all the steps its taken.
It's not a puff piece either -- he does have some valid criticisms. The overall message is very positive, though.
I do not think they do puff pieces... I do know the site tends to favor older remakes and smaller games.... SO I am very honored to have them give some time to M.E. ..
Indeed, really cool video from Appspy. I have a lot of respect for Andrew's opinions and I think he brought up some good points. But obviously the emphasis of the video mostly remained on how ME is "a motherload of content" and one of the best values for money you'll find.
One more thing: I believe it's the first time we've seen video of the game "in hands," and it's amazing how much it looks like a true FPS. Necromancer always felt too floaty to me, but this one seems much more grounded. Needless to say, I am now very excited about this.
Looks like an epicly huge game. I get the whole RPG/FPS aspect, but I'm still kinda on the edge here. You can have all the quality in the world, but if it isn't well done, then I won't play it anyways. I guess I'll have to wait and hear what people think. Maybe I'm just skeptical, in part because the overall design (gaudy fonts, boring interface, senseless environments and creatures) make me want to gauge my eyes out as a designer. But I can get past that, if the gameplay is really excellent.
I actually think just like you if the menus dont look nice and it looks half a**ed i wont buy it but this one is a ig change the compatibility and feel of fps in the changes the picture. also ryan do you think you can make necromancer free until mission europa comes out? Also just to waste time can you tell us how you came up with the ideas for this game? any inspirations?
On release day I can do necro.. (I do not own it anymore.. long story) I cannot wait until it ships there is NOTHING even close to this on the device.. it is totally different IMHO.. As far as inspiration. Targets: - Sci-Fi - Short Term Future - In Solar System - Event Horizon inspired - LOTS of enemies on screen. Far more then any other shooter.. with more varied game play.. or emergent game play then the standard scripted shooters out now... - Support almost all devices. - All cut scene based no text overs only. - Huge long story arc falling into ______ - And Multi-player in the World of Warcraft style of building your single player character to test him out in the Arena with your new stuff. - EPIC single player power... summons and the like... A few of the items kicking around in my head over a year ago =)
That's fair, I expect a lot of people are going to look at N.O.V.A and say "Why would I play this game? N.O.V.A looks a lot better!" but this not what this game is about. Graphics, enemies and items won't look as good that's for sure but you have to consider what this game does, not just what it doesn't do. If I where to play Morrowind for 10 minutes and give up because of the below average graphics and poor combat I would be missing on a great game just based on my initial impression. Mission Europa is one of those game that deserves at try, I've played it alot over the last few months and I find myself liking it a lot more then most big budget FPS shooters, not for everyone but the gameplay is there, I made sure of that
i think of mission europa as this - nova 2 is 6.99 this is (collectors edition) 9.99 with 20x the content
