If you steer clear of Objective C like I have my whole life... .. then not all that difficult .. the real problem is the massive number of different devices and support levels.. at least in my opinion as always keep it simple and stick with standard C ...
As far as pricing I think I will also release a Collectors App that is the whole game for 9.99... I will also throw in some bells and whistles for that one... Still on the drawing board... for the other it is 3.99 and .99 per episode or 2.99 for all the other episodes and the option to teleport anywhere.
Collectors app is a great idea...I already heard it could have specific armor and skins that only those that bought would have..making multiplayer that much more interesting..Custom armor clad guys running around in arena and on stat board..cool. I just reached 1000 kills...took 588 minutes and cleared 15-20 quests..that makes 150 or so to go.. Someone do the math on the hrs of play....
This week should be the final week of testing, all testers are split up on all episodes doing a final run. The game should be submitted by the end of this week, anything else that somehow got through WILL be patched in the future. Savegames won't be affected. Multiplayer will be in beta state, it wasn't possible for 4-5 guys to test an entire 50+ hour game AND multiplayer online, but it does look very promising. It could very well be a hit once it's all tuned up. Who knows! There's nothing like it on iOS. The website related to the game is also getting updated. It's pretty unique to be able to see all your stats, achievements, search friends and all that stuff. It has a lot of features that are not available with gamecenter, it's an entire website related to your online character's stats. The game is very close to be gold, it's up to the testers so I say it'll be out really soon!
Wow, what am I going to do now. If there is a collector's app then I would buy that!! Maybe make it so standard players can upgrade to collector's app version? Maybe 2.99 or something? That would be great.
Great news, although I am just going to be cynical and assume it will take Apple like a month to approve it. Didn't NR have an inordinately long approval time? And while I cannot comment on the business side of it, I would most definitely support a "collector's edition" version of the game.
Yes NR did but they had just changed a BUNCH of submission guidelines that caught me off guard... I should get this through quickly..I do not think I will have it in wens.. but within the week sounds very likely... It will be finished when it ships =) Back to work..
So I'm very curious about this game. It's branded as RPG/FPS. How are the rpg elements implemented in this game. Killing enemies/doing quest yield exp? I would imagine one levels up as they gain exp, no? Is there a skill tree or something to that effect? Is it just arena fighting or is there a campaign? Lastly, this collectors app, it will come with all the episodes plus new skins or in game equipment? Sorry for the inquiry. I am very curious and if it's what I believe it to be, sounds like an instant buy. Again, sorry, how will saving work. Thanks.
Hey! I'm on the Beta so I'll feel you in. Mission Europa is a shooter RPG. You crash land on planet Europa and have to survive. You start out on the surface with an NPC. She gives you quests like an RPG. You then go and complete the quest. Quests can rang from things like- Find this item, kill these enemies, hack this computer, blow up this bomb, kill this boss, etc. You gain XP by killing enemies and finishing quests. You can level your character up and distribute points to Strength, speed, health, and intelligence. You also have skills like lightning shock, fireballs, summoning demons, healing yourself, etc. You find a ton of loot that are armour pieces, potions, and new weapons. That's the RPG side of it. The shooter part plays out a lot like other shooters on the iOS. Swipe to aim your gun, customizable controls, etc. You can use melée weapons like swords, axes, and lazer swords. Ranged weapons range from pistols, rifles, shotguns, crossbows, miniguns, flamethrower, gernades, etc. My favorite is "The Hitcher". It is a crossbow that shoots an explosive bolt that later detonates and kills surrounding enemies. There are hundreds of different weapons in game. There are 50 different levels, with around 150 (I think) quests. Estimated full completion time is about 80-100 hours. ME will also be launching with a beta version of a multiplayer arena. You will be able to go against other players in a 1 on 1 battle using all weapons and skills from single player. It is beta at the start though and may have some small issues. Collectors edition price is pending $8-10, but it will come with all episodes and some extra goodies for buying it. That's Mission Europa summarized. I've been on the beta for about... 9 months an the furthest I've made it is level 10. Huge game.
Perfect. Thanks. I'll pick up the collector app for sure. How about saving? How does the game go about saving?
For saving, you have an option to save in the option menu, and it autosaves every time you warp back to the home base. I think you can only have one profile at a time though... I'm not sure on the collectors app... It really just depends on the approval process with apple. Only time will tell I guess!
Well put Hitch.. he pretty much nailed it... a year and a half of work coming to an end soon... It really could go into apple any day.. we are all just waiting for the time that we all feel it is perfect..
