well, this isn't a new concept, but as u said it works perfectly in Miss Claire Garden!
indeed, u can grab and throw enemies also in the game "Blue's Journey", a rare gem I have played many years ago, originally released in 1991 (try google search).

sorry to open this thread back up... but I wanted to ask Chris -

Do you have any other projects in the works? I'd really LOVE to see more games from you in the future...

Ye, please! I would love to see another platformer made by Chris...I really need a new one, couldn't see some decent platformers in the last months (except for Storm in a teacup, but it's TOO short!).
    Thanks Chris

Well, I stumbled upon this thread, thanks to syntheticvoid's vocal support and his forum signature, and decided to take a leap and buy it, since unfortunately there is no lite version to try. My sole device is an iPad and if I had first tried the game before buying I do not think I could have truthfully gone for it.

It's a charming and professional looking and playing title, no doubt about it. I unfortunately find myself with the same issue as League of Evil, where I cannot comfortably play it for any length of time, because of the locked, iPhone-optimised controls. It's unfortunate because this title seems like a higher-than-average experience. Perhaps if I ever get my hands on an iPod Touch I will be able to enjoy it properly.

It seems that RetinaPad isn't able to pull up the Retina Display resolution that this game apparently has, either.

I can't hold these issues at the hands of the developer, since his title is advertised as an iPhone/iPod Touch game. Nonetheless some non-universal games do manage to make an adequate transition to the iPad.

Sorry I can't show more enthusiasm. It looks like a charming game, really.

JAHA!!! Add another one to the list!! =oP

    lol...

I'm sorry you're not enjoying it on your iPad... the controls really are VERY well placed on the iPod... =o/

I hope someday you can experience the game on a smaller device... it truly is a little hidden gem. =o)

it's so upsetting that this gem doesn't have more supporters... It's still in my top 3 favorite platformers for the iOS... Meganoid knocked it out of first... but it's still on my device, and I still play it A LOT!

Based on the mails I receive, many people enjoy the game because it's close to the classic 2d platform games from Nintendo and Capcom (Super Mario 2 and Chip 'n Dale Rescue Rangers mentioned several times).
Unfortunately this is not the kind of platformer that is popular on the AppStore, iOS players want to quickly complete a lot of small levels or play for points and Game center achievements.
    In addition, a female character doesn't help : )

    woah!!! You're still alive!!! lol...

Yes, I know what you mean... and it's very very upsetting... I've been bringing up your game in almost every platformer thread though... was really hoping some people would end up checking it out... =o(

But I really don't think it has anything to do with the character being female... the first version of MCG got a pretty bad rap just because people didn't like how slow it moved... from that point on, it was pretty much doomed...

If you don't make a pretty big boom right off the bat, your game can get lost in the sea of games pretty easily...

I've still got this on my device, and have played through it at least 15 times... and it's still my #1 favorite iOS platformer. I will keep bringing it up in other threads, and comparing other iOS platformers to it, with the hopes that more people will end up checking it out... but it's such a shame that it didn't do well, and turned you off of developing for the iDevice, because really, the game is BRILLIANT, and the artwork = AMAZING.

Do you have any projects that you're working on now? For any console?

I bought this today and really love it too!

The one thing I really really wish this had was a way to rotate the screen (unless I am missing it). Trying to play on my iphone with headphones is super uncomfortable :(

I thought it was the right way to have headphones plugged in...

if it was the other way it'd totally screw me up...

Any chance for an iPad release or Retina? It's a shame this game isn't more well known.

Funny, I was just thinking the other day how I'm getting a bit sick of all the "bite-sized" platformers that are coming out lately and would like to see something I can sink my teeth into. (Actually, what I would really like to see is a "Wonderboy in Monster Land" style platformer/RPG, but I digress.) Looks like I might pick this one up and give it a go.

This is actually a well above average platformer. Unfortunately, there are some issues, one of which I'd classify as major.

No retina display - no biggie, but an issue none the less.

Leaps of faith - a pet hate of mine. Will walking off the edge of a platform lead to hidden treasure or certain death? This isn't a fun way to find out. Particularly in a game with no apparent checkpoints.

Now the biggie: the controls are just too small. I see what the developer was going for with keeping the controls under the play area: it doesn't work. I found my thumbs constantly straying too high or too far to the left or right resulting in frustration. Just make it full screen with large buttons (area.) We're used to it. It's alright.

The gameplay itself is actually very fun. Above issues aside, I'd say this is easily one of the best traditional platformers on the iOS. I guess for a buck I could still recommend it as is, particularly if your hands happen to be smaller than than those of the average grown man.

yeah, this is what I remember keeping me from buying the game. Are you saying this has been fixed/improved in later versions?

Yup, speed was improved, and the throw was tweaked...
