Hmmmm, it just says gameplay adjustments and minor bugs fixed in the AppStore... What changes were made with this update?
I know this is against what many have said who are a bit more hard-core than me, but is there still any chance of checkpoints? I often get really far into a level and die. Frustrating, but I guess I'm just not that good.
I really like the game, and have played tons of platformers, but I'm obviously missing something in the Croakk's Swamp level. Once I reach the second frog and hop on a fly to the right, I reach an area that has a seemingly insurmountable jump to clear. What painfully obvious thing am I missing?
Pretty sure that's the stage you need to hold onto the blue blocks for... They let you jump higher and 'float' further. And BOOOOO checkpoints!!!!! This game would be easy peesy if you could restart midlevel.
And sorry that might be the stage where you need to hold onto the bug to make you jump higher and float further... Not the blue block, that's another stage... =o/
yeah, it took me more than a couple times to get it as well... i'm surprised at how much content/gameplay there is, and how many different power-ups and little helpers there are along the way... just wait til you get to the jumping monkeys - they're quite the little helpers. =oP
@ syntheticvoid The update: - speed and inertia of Claire - Throwing is more intuitive and efficient, more difference between stopped and moving etc.. - The rebound of enemies goes further and continues to kill - minor bugs fixed (graphic) - adjustments of level design @ awp69: No checkpoint in Miss Claire Garden. it would be too easy and not very interesting (like many games today).
Thank you, Chris! After I beat v1.1 again (I'm on stage 22...) I'll take a look at the update (keeping v1.1 on my PC, of course. Hehe). The level design adjustments sound interesting!
+1 to all...perfect update and not need of checkpoints in my opinion...the game is beatable like it is now!
Hey so how is this? This looks like an awesome platformer. I just read the whole thread (lol) and I saw that syntheticvoid got a bit upset about how fast Miss Claire moves and whatnot. So I'm just wondering if I should buy this or not.
I just updated to version 1.3 on my older iPod... and Claire now moves at a pretty decent speed... I fell off of a couple of platforms (just because I was so use to how slow she moved in previous versions...) and Chris... I like what you've done with the throwing mechanic! It's like a mix between v1.1 and v1.2 - VERY nice job!!! I'll have to get more use to the quickness of Claire before I can really get through the game now... I've still got v1.1 on my 4th gen... I'm still a HUGE fan of that version... so it'll never be updated... (thank god I've got an older 2nd GEN that I can check updates on...) But yes, even after beta testing Elemental Rage, THIS is still my #1 favorite platformer for the iOS. HIGHLY RECOMMEND YOU NAB IT!!! Especially at 99 cents!!! I still can't believe Chris hasn't raised the price! - I've spent (as of now...) at least 50+ hours on this game... the last time I did that was with Metroid II on my Gameboy... before that, the original Mario Brothers on NES... Miss Claire Garden will be a platformer that I remember and probably still talk about when I'm 40... =oD
I should mention that in the VERY FIRST version Claire moved VERY slow... and in version 1.1 - she moved at a playable speed... I got upset because v1.2 pandered to all the complaints that she still didn't move fast enough (I think people were expecting her to move like the character in League Of Evil... WOULD TOTALLY RUIN THE GAME BTW) But yeah, after playing for about 30 hours, and then having this update (v1.2) that made her move at almost twice the speed, it was like moving around on ice, for me anyway... just because I had spent so much time with the previous version... this is still a MUST BUY game if you're into platformers... if you give it a chance, you'll fall in love with it, and end up throwing away HOURS upon HOURS of your life while starring at your iPod screen...
Thanks to @syntheticvoid I decided to give this game a try even I was suspicious.. This game is really hidden gem!! 0.99$ is a steal.. wish u luck with sales Chris_N
And you make #9 on the list of people I've convinced to buy this game!! REALLY hope to see more games from this VERY talented dev. Good job indeed Mr. Chris N.!
I wanted to throw out another positive vote for the game. I missed this one when it came out, but after seeing this thread keep popping up (and having completed Undead Island far too quickly), I decided to give it a go. While I wasn't quite sure about jumping on, grabbing and throwing enemies (instead of jumping on them to kill them as in typical platformers), the mechanic works and I've been enjoying it quite a bit. Well worth the purchase.
