Thank you for taking interest in the game. It's difficult to satisfy everyone, a french comment said that the game is now almost perfect! The update has been released today, it takes some time getting used to the change. Maybe you react too quickly? (this is not the first time!). An update is always possible. I always work on the gameplay. People can comment in this topic. The problem is that people react much more when they don't like.
I've tested the update and wow! now it feels much more responsive on first movement, I realy love it. I can understand the frustation of the guy above if you got used to the sloooow start of Marie before, it was the way he liked it. But I think it is the best for the majority, this is the way a platformer should feel.
Yah, ur both right... I've played this game at least 3 hours a day since I got it... I played Pizza Boy yesterday, and got frustraited with how fast he moved... And Pizza Boy is #4 (after Grokion, MCG, and Soosiz...) on my platformer list... This game just brought back SOOO many memories of playing Mario 2, and how much I played it before I got use to the movement and controls... Back when it was normal to spend MONTHS with a game before beating it... And upto a year to perfect your playing... Not gonna edit out what I said though, I really think those of you who did not get use to the gameplay are really missing out... That and IRL there is no *editing* out what you said 4 hours ago... No matter how stupid or selfish it is, and yes... Very selfish and stupid on my part... Mock away. Back in the NES days, it was great being able to show your friends how good you had gotten with a game, then playing it with them, showing them how to do things, and get in those special nooks they would normally just pass-up because of the difficulty of reaching those places... Anyway... I do hope that most of you who were holding out for 'better' controls now play all the way through this game, and put as much time into playing it as I have... And that you end up loving it like I do... This really is an AMAZING platformer game, and from AN JNDIE DEV!! doesn't get better than that... Best of luck to you all... This game is a PIECE OF ART! enjoy it!
don't be so harsh on you, shit happens and it's ok get frustrated with some things. I'm playing Pizza boy right now too, loving it aswell, really fast and responsive platformer, I think Marie is moving in the right direction. I insist on the slow star of Marie before, now is so much better. Get this game guys
I'm only on level 3 but LOVE this game! New controls are spot on, great job! Having some trouble getting all the flowers in the third level though. It looks like there is an inactive block that will become active when a switch is flipped to help reach 3 higher flowers. I can't find that switch! Any help? Thanks
Some of the special things aren't unlocked until way later in the game... You're going to have to just nab what you can nab, and then backtrack later...
SO glad you guys are enjoying the game now... Even LOVING it!!! I knew you guys would once you really got into it. =oD ***edit*** Now go give it some more ratings in the AppStore! =oD
Game Impressions I tried a little the last update yesterday and appreciate a lot the new controls (jump and speed). I think I'll succeed to finish the game as the gameplay is now pleasant and comfortable for me I like the small touches added here and there like when I had to take a monster, put it on a platform and jumped on its head, so I could reach a higher platform and caught the little bird. It's well done and it's a really nice idea to use enemies. Thank you Chris!
WOOHOO!!!! now get into the appstore and write a review!!! I would LOVE to see this game get the recognition it deserves! As for the Treasures you'll need to find in order to reach some of those impossible to reach places on some stages... I'm pretty sure you get the butterfly shoes (that let you walk on those blue lookin blocks...) around stage 10... and the Banana gloves (that let you pick up and throw the banana blocks...) at about stage 22... maybe 23... I THINK... as for the other Treasures, I didn't find them before having to downgrade to v1.1 and re-start the game. **edit** Also... sorry for sounding like I was involved in the making of this game with this statement... Totally didn't mean to... but really, I'm so happy you guys are getting into it!! REALLY do hope you all get REALLY into this game!!!! It's... well... it really could be the #1 platformer in the appstore. =oD
I have started the game over (downgraded back to v1.1... but lost all of my progress...) So if I come across where the Treasures are before someone else posts them in here, I'll make sure and let you know which stage they're on as I find them. =o)
I'm getting a little ticked off at some of the reviews I've read on "professional" sites. For starters, they're comparing this to Yoshi's Island. Well, while there are a few similarities in the art style , this doesn't play like Yoshi's Island AT ALL. I don't see how anyone could think this game is a rip-off of Yoshi's Island unless Yoshi's Island was the only platformer he had ever played and thus had the impression that YI was the only game where you jumped from platform to platform. This game uses a lot of elements that have come from a lot of different platformers over the years, but it's no more derivative than games like Halo that have built on the games that have come before. Second, the game is challenging, but fair. Tired of the whining in some of the professional reviews about the difficulty. It's easy enough to clear a level, but going back and getting the extra feathers can be extremely difficult. That's exactly the way it should be. Oh, and I like the fact that the clock actually matters in this game. I will often try to do everything in a level all at once (clear it, get the three birds, and the 50 flowers) and that can be very hard to do in the time given. It's a great challenge!
totally agree... there's been a couple of levels I just could NOT get all 3 feathers in before the time ran out... and the difficulty... my youngest (10 years old...) is able to enjoy the game just as much as me... but it's also hard enough to keep me from beating it COMPLETELY in less than a week... REALLY reminds me of the great NES games that took sometimes months to get everything and FULLY COMPLETE the game.
Thank you all! I'm glad to see more and more players enjoy the game. @scrooge:I agree with you about these reviews...
Question, I'm completing at full the firsts levels, what's with the flowers? I mean there are a lot of whites and few redish ones, right? The goal is to collect 50, but sometimes you got more than 50, so why there are two types of flowers, am I missing something? Is there a reward to collect ALL of them in each level?
