To cross it and reach your family, you must compete on - and win - a reality TV show broadcast by the Regime. Seemingly built overnight, The Wall has divided both a country in two and a man from his family. To see them again, our ginger-haired protagonist has decided to become a contestant on “The Wall Show”, a Regime-organized TV show allowing competitors the opportunity to escape to freedom on the other side. However, as he progresses through the camp, our contestant soon realizes exactly how the Regime and the show operate. The promise of freedom is not exactly what it seems. Inspired by games such as Prince of Persia (1989) and Oddworld: Abe’s Exoddus, Ministry of Broadcast revives the spirit of classic cinematic action-adventures where players need nimble run-and-jump reflexes and a healthy aversion to falling from precarious heights. To reach freedom and family, you must lead the protagonist through each of the Arenas while under the ever-watchful mechanical eye of the Regime. The variety of hazardous, dilapidated environments hold an array of obstacles for you to manage—leg-shattering drops (scared of heights?), flaming barrels of garbage (extra-smelly, extra-flamey), inconveniently-placed spike pits (of course), hanging steel beams (so much rust)—but none of this is to speak of the fates of those you meet along the way. CINEMATIC ADVENTURE - Run, jump, crash, and climb your way through each Arena as the action unfolds around you. Much of the story is unveiled via smoothly integrated animation sequences, within the environment, or from NPCs muttering bits of dialogue as you dive and dodge around them. ENVIRONMENTAL HUD - Rather than having a screen cluttered with overlaid indicators, HP bars, and minimaps, any information the player will need is incorporated into the environment. Hints and clues are meshed into the game’s art, subtle and specific, players will need a keen eye if they want to survive each Arena without breaking their legs. BRAIN-BENDING PUZZLES - Use your wits, and at times a dash of ruthlessness, to advance through the Arenas. You’ll have to interact with the environment itself to solve most of the puzzles: use the protagonist’s momentum to move platforms, flip the occasional lever, and sometimes you might have to sacrifice an NPC or two to cross a particularly spiky pit. TONS OF DARK HUMOR - Featuring lots of impish humor, Grade A sarcasm, and comic mischief, all balanced perfectly with the dark, heavy themes presented in this dystopian world. **Supported devices: iPhone 6S, 6S Plus, 7, 7 Plus, 8, 8 Plus, X, XS, XR, SE, 11, 11 Pro; iPad Air 2, 3, Pro; iPad Mini 4, 5; iPod Touch 7th Gen (all iOS devices with more than 2GB of RAM)** Information Seller:Hitcents.com, Inc. I will be waiting for the impression by @psj3809. metalwastebasket Well-Known Member Jan 5, 2017 161 55 28 #4 metalwastebasket, Sep 24, 2020 Give it a download and try for yourself, buddy. The free portion is more than enough to figure out if you'll love or hate the game, and it's just roughly 600 MB for the download. I myself am completely in love. Mind you, while the controls are perfect, they're perfect in the sense of Flashback/Prince of Persia/Oddworld clunky controls. Also, if you don't like the trial and error aspect of games like INSIDE or LIMBO, you're going to HATE this. That said, restarts are near instant and you almost never have to replay more than a couple of seconds. The only problem, for me, is the text is a little bit on the small side. I highly recommend folks try the free portion out no matter what. It could very well be your next favorite game. Edit: Nevermind. It’s up now psj3809 Moderator Jan 13, 2011 12,964 717 113 England #6 psj3809, Sep 25, 2020 Well liking it a lot so far. Controls well and love the graphics. But damn the conversation text is tiny. Ridiculous no one spotted this before. I’m in an iPhone XS. There’s lots of room for it to be larger but it’s tiny and I can hardly read it. There was an odd few minutes of the game being “No longer available” where I could neither pre-order anymore or straight up buy it that had me speculating that the game had been delayed, but alas, as implied by my impressions above, it ended up working out. psj3809 Moderator Jan 13, 2011 12,964 717 113 England #8 psj3809, Sep 25, 2020 Yeah it’s weird. Mine still said Orr ordered so I cancelled that. Couldn’t find it on the App Store but then link above worked Onto level 2 now. Am loving it. At least one puzzle made me laugh out loud before I even got to the pay point, so you’d be daft not to download this and at least give it a go. orangecan Well-Known Member Aug 9, 2011 2,000 150 63 #13 orangecan, Sep 27, 2020 Last edited: Sep 27, 2020 Ok so I’ve played a lot more and essentially my opinion remains the same. Controls I’m finding annoying more so than not - but again, they’re no worse than say Limbo or other games of that ilk and save/restart points are frequent and well placed, however it’s enough to frustrate and annoy more than it should. Meant to say that the Worst part which which very nearly made me quit and not buy it at all was the final part before the pay point. The main issue I seem to have is distinguishing between walk and run registering, and in time critical parts it just wasn’t working. Having said that it’s charm just keeps pulling me back in and I feel it should be getting more attention than it is. Reminds me More of Flashback if anything, although I can certainly see the a Prince of Persia/Limbo comparisons. anthony78 Well-Known Member Nov 13, 2015 3,125 703 113 #14 anthony78, Sep 27, 2020 I like the atmosphere and dark humor but absolutely hate the controls. I actually find them much worse than Limbo and others in the genre. So many “run” and jumps that are stupidly difficult just due to the controls. Glad there was a demo before buying. Deleted. No filler, no nonsense...just a tight, compact platformer steeped in gameplay from yesteryear that manages to feel extremely fresh, with memorable sequence after memorable sequence. Absolutely loved every second I spent with this. Solid 9.75/10 experience, IMO. I got to day 5 and hit a bug (no biggie it wasn’t the first) which made me have to restart a section so I went into the menu and I must have accidentally clicked something because it wiped my entire game! There’s a section to go into on the menu where you should be able to load from a section or checkpoint but the ‘load’ button just doesn’t do anything and all my progress seems to have been wiped. I’m not happy because up until that point I’d be echoing Metalcasket’s comments above. andreadeda Well-Known Member Mar 6, 2013 174 43 28 #18 andreadeda, Oct 7, 2020 I really like it but I’m getting really frustrated. I’m at day 3 after being able to shoot and have to jump from a box to a platform before the guard shoots me and I can’t do it. I tried literally hundreds of times and managed only twice (and have been killed). It shouldn’t be that hard but the character just doesn’t jump and keeps falling in the hole. Not sure if I’m doing something wrong but hate to be stuck because of controls and not because I don’t know what to do or I’m not good enough. psj3809 Moderator Jan 13, 2011 12,964 717 113 England #19 psj3809, Oct 7, 2020 When I get into situations like that have a look on YouTube as there’s a few video walkthroughs.
