This game is definitely not worth $0.99. It'll soon be a year I've been playing this one including beta, and it's worth at least $2.99. The level of refinement in terms of gameplay, animations, artwork, is pretty unique for a game on any platform. And there is so much coming in terms of updates that a higher price and or DLC are easily justified. Only Enviro Bear comes close, but if like me you suffer from ursaphobia automobilensis, you'd go for this one instead.
I just bought the game and it really is worth a dollar. I can't stop playing it. I have bee hearing about it a lot too so I decided to get it to see what it had to offer and I like it. It's a fun shooting survival game. Recommended to anyonee. Edit: the art design on this app is just like fowlplay I love it!
Okay, Pocket God has been out for a little more than a year. How many updates does it have? 31. Minigore has been out for 9 months now. How many does it have? 3 and a half. Yes, I know that Minigore updates take longer because they need to make things 3-D, but still, what the hell? I wouldnt even classify it as a game in it's current state. Its like a minigame. I mean, tell me in which ways Alive4Ever or iDracula is worse than Minigore. They aren't. iDracula has what, weapons plus perks and awesome game modes. Alive4Ever has 15+ weapons and perks also. Minigore has 3. One game mode. No perks.
....iDracula/Alive4Ever doesn't have about 15 characters (some with special abilties) does it? Plus, Minigore has more than 3 weapons. Where have you been??
Production value: yes worth $0.99 Gameplay value? I wouldn't play this thing if it was free. Imagine one tiny tiny map, the same enemies over and over again (perhaps 3 enemies in the entire game?), the same weapons, the same shooting style, enemies all take one hit to die, no missions, no equipment, not even health pick-ups... You might as well play Pac-man or something. More characters? Their cost ranges from 10,000 enemy kills to around 1,000,000, and most if not all of them are simply just different skins. Yup they ask you to spend 300+ hours on this repetitive thing to unlock a different skin. Bottom line: go see some videos of this game. If you can take the same mindless shooting for a few hundred hours then go ahead and get it. Otherwise save your dollar and get some proper games.
That pretty much seals it up for me. I hate the massive amount of pointless causal crap on the App store. It's so hard to find a descent real game that has longer than an hour or two of real gameplay. I thought from all the hype that Minigore might be more, but it doesn't seem that way.
There are rarely any titles that hook you like console games. Others think Gameloft might have made one or two like that but I didn't think so. Not even Zenonia 2 is comparable to any of the RPGs found on consoles, it's not complex enough. The PSP has some direct console ports, Tenchu IV for example, and even the DS has amazing stuff like The World Ends With You.
That's what sucks about this whole platform. There might be one game (GTA:CTW) on par with good DS/PSP games.
Don't forget to add THPS2. I think the platform has a bright future after GTA and THPS2 being ported, and Square Enix's Chaos Rings.
The platform needs bigger developers to take it serious. Indie games are great and all, but most indie developers do not have the resoures to deliver a PSP/DS quality title. GTA:CTW was a great step and Chaos Rings could be as well. While THPS2 is cool, a 10 year PSX port doesn't do much to move the platform forward. It also really doesn't help that developers are jumping to the iPad as quick as possible with new games leaving the iPhone in the dust (Aurora Feint 3, new Tap Tap game, Geometry Wars, etc...). That won't help either.
You know, I like both games but I simply can't agree with this - the one thing Minigore does (single player survival) it does better than any other dual stick shooter I've played. That being said - you can't really expect anything else out of this game. New characters? I had most of 'em with that glitched update and I still play Jerry. That being said, I'll take Isotope/Meteor Blitz/Abstract War/etc over Minigore any day
So the platform has a bright future because a 10 year old + game with loltastic controls got ported? Wait what?
You do have a point. Had they ported Tony Hawk 3, which earned a coveted score of 10 from Gamespot, then the future would be bright. I will admit though, the Square Enix RPG does look cool.
Visually, the SE RPG does look good but seriously, is there anyone here that truly believes this is an important project for them? I'm pretty sure they have 8 guys working on Chaos Rings, unlike the teams for their true portable projects (The World Ends With You, Crisis Core, etc). That doesn't necessarily mean the game will be bad but, consider this, SE's RPG's in general have been lackluster the past few years. What does make you think this one will be any good?
I agree, but it still looks cool. It's more important to people on this forum than people at Square. But hey, according to other people on this forum, the iPhone has Final Fantasy and Call of Duty (ignoring the fact that is a crap gamemode with 2 maps) so we should just shut up and realize the golden age of portable gaming is right here.
