Either the appstore sorts out its act, or we'll soon have an average expectation of FREE instead of $0.99 !
i dont really disagree with your opinion i just think that you shouldnt be so quick to pass judgement on chillingo and imply that they are doing some disservice to those whose games they publish without knowing the entire situation. lemme ask anders some stuff though becuase i too dont know everything and i am curious are any developers that work with chillingo complaining about chillingo? have you anders ever talked to chillingo have recieved some sort of proposal or bully developers? in marketing class do you learn about how various contributing factors determine what is true in a market? or does it say that you increase the price it will always be bad noone like you and your core audience no matter who the audience is the core ones are always the same will always feel alienated and no matter how visible the chillingo brand is it cant save the any game you publish if you raise the price becuase thats just how the marketing and it will be this way forever? anders do you work in marketing? im gonna stop myself becuase i think i like arguing as much as le'd and that might have been part of the reason i i had commented on what he posted. but also partly becuase i bums me out to see people claim they like the appstore and are rooting for its success yet they are trying ruin the best things about it. hard working developers ago strike out on thier own trying to manage their lives and make an app they hope people will enjoy and then posts in this forum to announce it and then someone says 30 for 99 cents levels no thanks. and chillingo that has worked hard to build their brand has been successful and provides and oppurtunity for the many small developers to share that success. i dont want to see them go becuase people are stating rumors about them becuase they want to make everyone think that they are super smart. i really dont want to talk about this here anymore becuase im really looking forward to minigore and this thread is for me to enjoy my anticipation ritual panning for golden tidbits of info to build up hype tower to the sky and just enjoy the whole new game coming to the appstore experience that i love so much. to argue about chillingo here just seems like bad form and it kinda puts a damper on things. but if there was another thread then that would be good cuz i like to argue even to the point when i start to forget what i s was arguing about and maybe in the lounge and not next to the picnic tables. and just a word of advice le'd. if your gonna argue something then you argue it. dont refer to someone else. that just like saying they can explain it becuase i dont know what the heck im talking about. its like such a gigantic blow to your credibility that you might as well just stop right there and say i forfiet. i havent checked if minigore came out yet becuase i was typing this post but until i see a masssive backlash of developers complaining about chillingo then i support chillingo 100% and hope enjoy alot more of their games in the future and maybe some stickers or a sack race
Not that I know of, no. Quite the contrary. No I haven't. I'm mainly a developer, but since we are just four friends having fun we have to do everything (programming, sounds, trailers, hanging out at forums, cleaning, do all the paperwork, support etc), including marketing. And like I said in a previous post, lets get back to topic. Me too!
Unfortunately I think you are missing the point....entirely. It has nothing to do with being "super smart" or trying to smear chillingo. I've got nothing against the company and they ARE one of my favorite publishers. It doesn't mean that they're not missing the market. I noticed today, that sites including STP, and appgamer.net just wrote pretty much the same thing I said here regarding .99cent apps. Not to mention there is active discussion going on in a thread in the developers section here on TA. I don't really care about your opinion of my credibility as you obviously aren't engaging in the same conversation here. I defer to someone else cause I get tired of explaining the same thing over and over to people like you and romulus and vinny. You need to understand how pricing affects the long term profit potential of an app before you can even begin to comprehend the argument at hand. I have my suspicions that chillingo often pushes a .99cent entry price, and I was expressing my disdain at said approach. You seem to have fabricated an idea that "I want to take chillingo down", and that my friend is just plain stupid If you want good games, be prepared to spend good money. Logo Design Suggestion: Use a snow covered hill as the backdrop. Have the word MiniGORE silhouetted like a shadow covering the snow covered ground at a 30-45 degree angle leading up to the hill. Against the hill backdrop again two more dark silhouettes. Above the shadow of the word Mini the silhouette of a small furry. Above the shadow of the word GORE the silhouette of John Gore/or a large furry. Add some splatters of blood against the snowy hill around the John Gore/or a large furry silhouette. I think that would add dimension, mystery and the possible violence the game has in store for us gamers. I'd try my hand at it but my laptop is in for repairs..
WITHOUT internet access for the WE! AAARRRGGHH! I have offered to beta test in 3.0 but am currently still testing under 2.2.1 (well they will need both anyway so that doesn't say too much). So including review by appstore count on another couple of weeks at least. Better make that 3... But it'll be worth it!
logos: i think the one that would look the best would be the 1st one but the word "mini" should be the colors of the 3rd one or what do yall think of this
I like this one a lot. I would rather pick this one than the others listed, #1 on the list is not bad at all..
Logo 1 is neat - looks like a comic book title, which is good. Logo 2 is the most beautiful one. I like both. The others....meh..
