I think some people are pumped up because they feel very emotional about not being picked when they expected to, maybe more so than those who expected to be picked and did get picked. Maybe more than 2 have posted here but just keep it to themselves, in reality they may have been busy putting up a Christmas Tree, buying carrots for the mountain sheep they have in their garden, and stick their head in a bucket of snow to deal with their elation and celebrate? But on the other hand, there are a few opportunistic lurkers around who'd do anything for a free beta or a promo code...
Of course... it IS memorial day... so maybe the people that got in are out with their families or something. They may not even know til much later!
I think if i'd have got picked i would have posted 10x as quick as i did Really can't wait for this game EDIT: Just wondering, since seeing VegantTNT's post... What exactly IS memorial day?
if you havent got an email by now then you wont get one because they've already chose the seven testers.
To answer some questions: With small number of testers we can control technical issues better. We're in much better position to troubleshoot 7 people than 30 people. Rest assured, if the testing starts smoothly and we're able to coordinate this thing comfortably with seven testers we'll let more people in. Kartel: The control sticks are still a work in progress, we haven't decided their exact location yet either (I think iDracula has them in the bottom corners, which works good). Thorero: The background is 1024x1024 texture, about 100 planes of bushes (translates 200 triangles). It's kept relatively light on the background department so we can push tons simultaneous enemies & effects. The bigger boss enemies have a much higher polycounts but framerate should be a rock solid 30. Some stuff we worked on recently: The minifurries are now implemented in the game and they look wild chasing the player! Regular furries got updated also with a proper texture map and some optimizations. I'll post new screenshots later this week. Hmm.. what was that competition Santa mentioned? I think he's leaking information like an old valve!
Santa knows Devilishly Good was selected! Everyone who replied to the three questions should have received e-mail yesterday with either good news or less so. Check your spam folders first, and PM Santa with your e-mail address if the message got lost in the Interwebs! Santa will then tell you whether you got in.
The thing is though, and this goes not only to folks who didn't get picked, but those who did, Beta Testing sounds like fun, but quite often you're getting a version of a game that is absolutely riddled with Bugs and Glitches. I'm just saying, it's not like you're getting a true, full version of the game before anyone else, it's a lot of work. @TimoVihola: Might I ask 2 questions? In the screenshots and the video, it looks like the camera is essentially fixed in one place above the player, is this so? And to go along with that, if the camera does move about in relation to the player, do items like the bushes stay locked to the camera, so you would never see a bush or tree side on. 2nd Question, on the Minigore blog, one of the posters: Says that Hardgore is coming soon to the iPhone and iPod Touch, I thought it was only minigore coming to the iDevice?
MiniGore is the shooter for idevices HardGore is a TD game for idevices both are shown on Chillingo's website There is also another HardGore game that is coming to PS3
It's time for our Amazing Minigore Tagline Contest! As you can observe, the task is to come up with so good a tagline for Minigore that even Santa could put it in his signature. Use up to six 6 words to describe what a beast of a game Minigore is to help Mountain Sheep draw some major-league attention to it! No, despite the major leagues Santa will not accept baseball taglines. As we all remember, Minigore is an awe-inducing representative of the survival shooter species. You step into the shoes of John Gore who finds himself lost in a strange place called the Hardland. Everything would be suitably nice and peaceful if it weren't for the darned furries. These black creatures seem to have an unexplained grudge against our blue-coated hero, and with so many of them out there, Santa sure is glad John managed to hold onto his machine gun! Mail your entry to the address in the poster no later than June 13. The grand prize is truly epic in proportions; you get to be in the game as a professionally modeled 3d-character, executed in the true Hardgore style! The model will be added to the game in the first update. After the finalists have been shortlisted by the reputable jury of Mountain Sheep, there will be a public vote for the finalists right here at the TouchArcade.com forums! Santa has a few brand new screenshots for y'all... ...as well as a few examples for taglines he invented, to help you find the mood! Minigore: Just bleed! (yes, Santa watches the UFC) Minigore: I ain't got time to bleed (for all the Predators out there) Minigore: When the going gets tough! Minigore: It's a strange world out there... Minigore: Die Hard Gore (very playful, indeed) If more than one people enters the contest with the same entry independently and it so happens that this entry wins, then the Mountain Sheep team will make a Frankenstein model with features from all the winners in it! Santa wishes the best of luck to everyone! You will also find this call for entries on the Minigore blog soon. Now, go, think up great taglines and tell all your friends to follow suit!
