Was the picking random? That's unfortunate, I filled all the credentials as well (I have the 360 controller, good computer set up) I find it hard to believe that many people had as much game time per week as I did, as it's in my job title...
Same Well, actually, i only play games on my iPod about an hour a day, but ya know... I doubt many people have a good pc with a 360 controller
If I was going to launch a game that I spent a lot of dark winter days and nights, and effort on, I wouldn't leave anything to chance... It was just a figure of speach when I said yesterday: And btw Mountain sheep didn't let Fjord Troll pick at random (And Santa Knows Fjord Trolls know about random!), he "came up" with a final list himself...
Did you just pick people at random? I met all of the criteria yet didnt get a spot. And if only 30 people applied, why not just accept all of them? You can have up to 50 testers you know.
Yea, I didn't get selected either, and also fulfilled all the requirements. I asked Kimmo about it, he basically said it came down to a favorable set of devices and people with similar testing experience. I think activity on this site, maturity(age), and overall demeanor should have played a much larger role than they apparently did...And I don't see why only 7 testers were selected, that is pretty small and if you can have up to 25 testers on a provisioning file, why not? Seems like more devices and testers can only be a good thing, sure organization and keeping track of reports would be a little more time consuming, but the feedback would surely outweigh these minor challenges.
Yeah, I agree with everything you said. Im probably just mad because I didnt get in, but then I look at everything and think about how much better the testing would be with larger amounts of people. Like I said before I met every requirement, plus I have a 1st gen iPhone which I doubt many people (who applied) have, and they said they were looking for people with different devices to see how well it ran on them. Nice sig.
I think I am just mad about it too, haha, but having more people test would only result in feedback from an even more varied test field. I have the 3G iPhone which is a very large group of potential customers, and making sure the game runs smooth on both versions of iPhone (I feel) should be top priority over either generation of iPod Touch (which the majority of people on this site own). Oh well though, no use getting mad over a game
AAHHHH. God I hate you right now. But not really. We're still good friends. Just for reference, could you send me the info that you sent Santa? I want to see what was wrong with my e-mail.
I wouldnt really mind if I didnt meet the criteria they were looking for, but I did and I dont know why I wasnt chosen. I have a ton of experience testing, which they didnt even ask for, so thats a mistake right there. I just want them to tell me why we werent chosen.
Haha, now you're becoming paranoid "Whu... Was it something i said? I can change! Just give me a second chance!" Though yeah, i met all criteria and have beta tested quite a few games in the past (i'll just go back to crying into my pillow now).
I agree that the more testers the better. However there are a few things to remember. The devs don't know who is who and can't spend time checking over our posts to see how we behave. With a smaller group you are assured that those that aren't pulling their weight get cut from the next build. Gamevil is no longer doing open betas after zenonia. I got an email stating that betas will be inhouse from now on. They had a ton of testers and not enough people providing input. I've had emails from devs that ask who I would recommend for betas, aside from the handful of people I know are good. I actually like this approach cause it makes it easier to coordinate group sessions. But in the end all I can do is hope I get picked
Yea, it definitely seems like they didn't get an accurate picture of each potential tester just from those three basic questions. And clearly we are more pumped about this game then the people who even got picked, seeing as only two of them have even posted since the acceptance emails went out...they probably just applied for the fun of it
This is true, on the Zenonia beta not very many people posted their input. But then think about it, with a smaller group, there is still a huge chance that not many will be active. Say you have 30 testers, and half respond. Thats still more than 7, and who says that all 7 will even respond? More testers leads to more feedback.
