I won't go as far to say that Minigore is destined to fail, but based on a number of factors, it's destined to fizzle out pretty quickly. As sizzlakalonji (most of you in this thread know him as "Satan") mentioned, this game was released completely unfinished, and he, along with myself and many others (basically anyone who isn't a Minigore worshipper), would gladly have waited however long it would have taken to finish it, and would then gladly have paid $10 for it. I don't blame Mountain Sheep/Chillingo for hyping this game up the way they did. There's a lot of money to be made in the App Store, and if the devs don't make money, then they can't/won't keep making games. I guess they figured that with the "cute" 3-D art style, all they would have to do is keep posting new screenshots and info about the game, and the fanatics would take care of the rest. And as you can see from this ridiculously long thread, the fanboys did their marketing for them. I hate to have to tell you guys this, but you, the fanboys, are the very reason that you are going to have to wait so long for this game to be "finished". I say that because, if the devs had posted previews and screenshots like they did, and mentioned that the game was going to be released in "episodes", everyone but the fanatics would've said, "I don't mind waiting a little (or even a lot) longer. Release it after it's finished, or at least semi-finished, when it has more content than just one level." I'm aware that all Minigore is supposed to be is a twin stick survival-shooter with a different art style, and that's what it is, so i'm not expecting any real depth, or tons of content from it. But there were other games of that genre in the App Store that weren't released until they were finished (i.e. multiple levels/power-ups/weapons etc.), or at least finished enough until the first big update was approved. Ultimately, I don't think Minigore's downfall will be because of games like A4E (although they're definitely adding to it), but because of Apple's excruciatingly slow approval process. Think about it. It was released about a month ago, and it's already been almost a month since the first "update" was submitted, and basically all that includes is an extra life and radar. If Minigore's customer base was made up entirely of fanboys, then maybe it would have a shot, but because the majority of people who buy games like this are casual gamers (and probably not TA members), I don't think it stands a chance in terms of long term App Store success. People just don't want to wait that long for a new level here and there. Honestly, if we have to wait a few months just for one new level to be released, I think even the fanboys will start to wonder if it's worth the wait.
Very well said squirt reynolds! Being someone who almost got forum mug and branded a heretic because i refuse to worship minigore and later their idol the minigoat is quite traumatic! The cult of minigore's reaction to every screenshot is quite disturbing!
You forget that the devs released the game and then asked if people wanted to have episodic content or wait until the game would have multiplayer. People asked for the content in short updates and that's why its coming this way. No need to blame the devs for that one. at this point if i were the devs i would just cancel the update. the few features that it does add are not going to push sales or change the game. We have waited this long so they might as well just let us wait a little longer and come out with a solid update that will get this game some attention. lastly it has become obvious that much of the hype of this game has died yet what the nay sayers dont seem to realize is that your anti-minigore backlash has now surpassed the dying hype. I urge you to take a look at a few recent pages of this thread and realize that about 50% of this thread has become people who dont like the game and wish this thread would go away yet contribute about half of the discussion...
This game has 2070 ratings and is the #36 Top Game. What other game released in the last 2 months has more ratings? Why does it need more attention??
I don't blame the devs for it at all, I blame the fanboys. They're the ones who just couldn't wait a second longer. Who posted things like, "I needs ma Minigore now!" and "I'm gonna kill myself if it's not released today." Followed by the hundreds of completely pointless, "I think it's coming out tonight" and "I really hope it comes out soon" posts. All the devs did was ask, and the fanatics answered. The ironic thing is that they're the same people that "can't wait" for more content.

Very well said. @poisonivy: I wouldn't say the backlash outweighs the hype, just that as more and more time without any added content passes, the voices of the rabid become less frequent. They're there. Just wait until this first (relatively meaningless) update releases. You'll have 30 pages of how cool the radar and extra life are. I hope to be proven wrong, but I doubt it. I'm having a hard time understanding why the developers are making little to no communication with apple regarding their product. So far, I have seen no dialogue presented between either party to us, which makes me believe there is a problem going on and no one is spilling a drop of the details even just to ease the issue. I'm almost positive if apple was aware of the situation they would certainly make it a priority to search their database for the update and take care of the issue. I'm not trying to make it out like these guys are for some odd reason, "out to get us," I'm stating that apple should be completely aware of this and mountain sheep appears to be very passive about the whole thing.
