Problem is minigore won't be updated on a one update per week basis! It looks like it will be one update every 2 months. I reckon the strategy is to tease with concept art, announce update log, allow anticipation to build hype, work on update...nothing massive just bits and pieces, announce that build is near submission with just little tweaks, announce submission, allow anticipation to build hype, submit app, allow anticipation to build hype, wait for update approval before working on the next one. This is a game where delay actually works to sell more copies.

Idracula in its current state and with its two updates is 100 updates better than minigore. People who waited for this game is being rewarded with another wait and in the future another wait.

I pointed that out in another thread: that devs might be tired of apples approval policy but a lot of people insist that apple is still better than sony.

its not mountain sheeps fault tho. when the update finally gets approved, and then update 3 is out (so the first 2 updates on minigore). minigore will be over 100times better then idracula

I bought Minigore on Day 1 and played it maybe for a half hour. Then I went back to playing the dozen other dual-stick shooters I already owned since there was very little game here.

What's the obsession with this game, and why is it so great?

Honestly, this is the only game of this type that I like - I almost passed this one up due to the fact that I hated iDracula so much, but I'm glad I ended up buying it

I think alot of the hype about this game has to do with the outstanding graphics

    quoted for the mofo'in truth

it's the only dual shooter i have enjoyed to this point
all the rest blow, inluding the new one. the graphics are what makes minigore stellar.

yup. the awesome art style is the reason for it's success no question.
unfortunately I got tired of it after a few plays. anxiously awaiting an update. but A4E should keep me occupied for a while ;)

That's probably how Pocket God went in the beginning. Once Apple realizes that Minigore is a big market to them Minigore will catch their attention and they will release updates more often.

Graphics is a huge factor (the main factor, really) in why I bought Minigore. It's fun shooting things too, of course, but yeah.

Dark NRG: Yeah, it's our own 3d engine that we built from the ground up.

Building the engine was probably the slowest part as we made sure it supports big structural updates. The great part is that we don't need to touch the engine much anymore and we can focus on content, content and content.

MidianGTX: Doing lowpoly 3d art is very tricky! You have to save as many triangles as possible and still create a feeling of "complete character". John Gore doesn't have nose, arms or feet and he still manages to look somewhat complete ;) If it was a more powerful platform I would make him look like in the cover art.

I played another iPhone game called Gold Keeper recently and it had only a handful of character on screen and as a whole it just looks underwhelming because it's practically impossible to do 8-10 visually pleasing realistic 3d characters on iDevices (iPhone 3GS is the sole exception). No disrespect to the devs, it wouldn't help even if they had the best 3d modeler in the world. I wish they would port it to a more powerful platform, it could look fantastic on 360 or PS3. Baseball Sluggers managed to do quite good semi-realistic 3d characters on iPhone because there's only ONE or TWO on screen at a time.

I drew this graph to demonstrate: [IMG]

Fudgeboy: Undead cossack army will have das guns! They have bad aim though and winterfurries like to feast on their rotten skin :D

beachmusic: We are not gonna hold the updates hostage. I would say if Episode 2 isn't out inside two weeks we'll cancel the submission and send a new version of Episode 2 for approval. (that has all the new finished content we have done by then, it would technically be Episodes 2+3) Lots of players are getting angry waiting for the update and this waiting or "hype building" or whatever it is called isn't doing us any good, we get crap on iTunes reviews and we get bad reputation on forums - why would we want that? It's in our best interests to have the latest and greatest version on the App Store at all times.

    Cheers,
    Timo

I love when Timo post because it always lifts my spirits. I agree whole heartedly that the "hype" of this game has been killed by apple. If updates could come out every two weeks or so then MS could easily sit on an update to build hype about it. Making people go crazy for the co-op update would have been a great idea. At this point that is no longer an option. Its going to take a lot of good press to get minigore back in the top ten and honestly i dont think it will make it there untill the co-op update. Who knows when that will come. Its a tragedy for the devs and it really is unfortunate because apple is costing them tons of money by holding up the update. Not only does each day without it bring less sales but more bad press. If i were MS i would go public with the issue. Find a media outlet and show them how apple's update process causes small devs to lose money. Especially since many people are already pissed of at the update process. What apple needs to do is to make the process known and instate update tracking like they do for mail packages. Devs should be able to see what the status of the update is and estimated time of approval. Apple's update department wont even respond to most emails. I agree with some people that minigore was only a baby when it was released with promisses of growing into a man but its sad that we have to watch apple strangle the life out of the baby before it can ever grow up.

It's nice to have high poly stuff when you're playing a PS3 or something, but low poly models still have a certain amount of charm. I used to love how the Final Fantasy VII characters looked (and still do), but it was a little odd when the CGI cutscenes kicked in and suddenly all of the characters drastically changed shape. It makes me glad that your whole character design seems to have been done with the poly issue in mind, because the difference between the artwork and in game model isn't too drastic.

I dread to think how much work must be going into Hardgore trying to keep the polys to a minimum.

Thanks for the clarification Timo, now I know where you are coming from. I just don't get it why apple is slower than usual ( which is already slow to begin with) when it comes to minigore.
