Well you bought it and they got your money (all $0.99). I bet you thought the same way about FC too. All that was in the beginning was one map with you just trying to beat your previous high score. Then again $0.99 games should be so much more epic than this...right?
Ahhh hahaha I came back here to see what the opinion was these days as its sitting on my phone gathering dust now. Looks like its the same as mine. I think MiniBore sums this title up nicely. Nothing that rewarding about playing this game once the initial freshness has gone. Still..... for the price you can't complain. I just love how over excited everyone got about it pre-release like it was going to change their entire lives.
I think some of us just need to relax. The devs obviously planned updates to come out much quicker than this. It's not their fault that apple is taking a ridiculous time to approve the first update. So, just continue to give them support. Because they too are waiting for the update, probably with even more anticipation and annoyance at apple than we are. I believe they will continue to make this game great, it just all depends on apple's approval process.
Forgive me for not understanding this... but... "Nothing that rewarding about playing this game..." ???? really? what game can you really say rewards you in any way.... I'm just not getting this...
i hope that with all this extra time, they would start working on adding more stuff while they wait episode 2 to come out.
I personally think the FINAL vision is going to be rather nice and enjoyable game that I can wait for. $0.99 isn't all that much of an investment for something original in character. Some people on here just have tunnel vision and don't see the grand picture.
yeah and I got my .99 cents worth. and I love flight control, the dynamics, though simple, are more complicated than this. I'm just saying this thread is scary long for what this game is. minibore!
No one is complaining about the price. Like Bob Barker said, The Price Is Right. The problem is the ridiculous hype. This game was supposed to change the world. Look at the sheer number of posts. Ridiculous. A game like this was going to be a rare as Haley's Comet. Well, what did we get? A twin stick shooter. Not even the best twin stick shooter in the app store. Not even top 3. It's boring. I'm sorry, but that's how I feel. I know a lot has been promised, and it's obviously sold very well based on those promises. Here's the thing though; you now have this nice revenue stream, this update has taken forever, why not push the next 2 or 3 updates in right away? Show us you're serious. Give us updates with real content. Sure, Pocket God has had a million updates, and what do we have? Still just tapping pygmies. A weak Papi Jump element doesn't make it a game. This game as it is, is running purely on hype.
thank you, thats more what i was getting at. The price of iphone games means nothing to me, especially considering 10 bucks is considered really expensive around here. I would have gladly paid more money for a more complete game. I think its a mistake to try and generate a bunch of hype and then release a really subpar game. I love the graphic style, which is why i bought it, its just too bad that the game play, like sizzlakalonji said is not even close to one of the better twin stick shooters. Now what are we left with...promised updates, which are just that, promised. I think this game will be left in the dust once better twin stick shooters come out and Minibore fans are still waiting for a better game, that is, once the update comes out.
We are not sitting idle waiting for the update to come out The fact that the update isn't out doesn't really affect our production, even if it takes 10 weeks to get approved. The development of the game continues as usual and you will get all the stuff that's been developed during that time in the next update. I don't understand how lots of discussion necessarily means hype. Sure there was hype before release. If you look closer at this release thread it's people just discussing the game for the most part. aleceiffel: The price of iPhone games doesn't mean much to me either, they're practically free as far as I'm concerned. But take a look at those TOP 20 lists, you and me are not in the majority and price does matter a LOT to average iPhone consumer. I would like to know what that company with huge budget is that's gonna come up with the next uber quality dual stick shooter? If we stop living in a fantasy land and think about real budgets that are needed for iPhone games you'll realize that as long as players won't pay much more than 0,99 for games those big companies like EA and Gameloft are not gonna make that miracle game. At these prices they'll move on to the next project right after they finish the last one. There's this equation that you can only pick two of these three things: speed, price, quality. We have developed with relatively slow speed because we're not a 30 person team, that leaves us with quality at a small development price. We don't need to meet any shareholder expectations either and there's no middle management that we have to pay. I'm quite sure EA for example has lots of middle management positions because when you have lots of people you need people whose only job is to schedule those other employees. I could see a 2d twin stick shooter being developed with a cheaper budget and have more features, but I don't see any 3d shooter surpassing our development efforts - not at this stage. There's way less coders who know 3d because it's much more complex than 2d. On the art side 3d is also much more difficult, you have to be able to do 2d (character design) AND 3d (final game model). At big companies they don't even let 2d artists to touch 3d applications or vica versa -Timo
Timo: While the top 20 may be a lot of .99 cent games, you cannot deny that there have been loads of 5+ dollar games that have done very well. All Im saying is that the current trend of promising consumers updates to unfinished games is not a model i find particularly appealing. Its not to undermind the fact that, yes, you may follow through with completing what you started, but some developers do not. From my personal standpoint; I was extremely excited to purchase your game based on the absolutely wonderful 3d graphics and character design your team created, but completely underwhelmed by the lack of content. But, I realize I paid 99 cents and i got 99 cents worth of gaming. While I can appreciate the fact that 3d creation is time consuming and you may need to push your game out to create revenue earlier than you may wish, I, as a consumer am left unsatisfied with your product. I know im not the only one that feels this way, and obviously you have a huge following that feels the opposite. Either way, its just my opinion. Best of luck to you
Not to get on enyones bad side but can we stop the bitching and just be patient. This game is going to be great. But u must wait. And u have to aprieciate and don't hate. ( rhyme intended lol ). They promise good features in updates and we will get them. Just be patient.
No, you don't have to just wait. I am not going to "expect" lower content games no matter the price. I'd rather pay 10 bucks for full, high quality games than $.99 for in-progress games.
interesting article about the apple app process (specifically about the google voice app that was 'rejected'). http://news.cnet.com/8301-13579_3-10315328-37.html?tag=mncol
werent you were of the crazy guys in the upcoming thread? And now your all like this? If not then my bad.
The problem though, is that most people wouldn't. With so many hit or miss games out there on the iPhone, people would rather try 10 games for 99 cents rather than 1 for $10 and pray that it delivers.
that is totally changing. there are more and more games being released at higher prices than when the app store started. before the app store, you couldnt buy a video game for .99 cents and believe me, it wont last. There are plenty of people spending 5+ $ on games, look at Doom Resurrection, RE4, any racing game...People are willing to spend a few extra bucks on more quality and quantity. What do the bad reviews for MiniGore say?
guys, at the end. your going to end up with a game worth $5 on the appstore, but with the cost of 99cents. all you need is patience, and patience is free btw
