In fact, the PSP (hacked) had an homebrew game called Boxhead, which was very similar to Minigore and had pretty good controls. If I remember well it used the analog stick to move and aim and the X button to shoot, as simple as that. It wasn't as precise as Minigore, but it was alright. Look it up on Youtube : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2nTbgtEyKZE&feature=related
ya i know!!!! i mean y cant mountainsheep get 4000 employees liek gaemloft? there games wuld be WAY better....... Liek the voice acting!!!!!!!
What? That we should check out TA before updating every game? Great idea, thanks. Hey I have an idea, that should be part of iTunes User Agreement: "All users must visit Touch Arcade before updating their games or they couldn't complain if the updates are corrupted or erases your data."
not saying you should do this before updating anything but the truth is you should always wait at least a few hours for updates, because every single one has a chance to ruin something. this goes for every product, console and game. its always smart to either wait an hour or two to see if its safe before doing the update. its common knowledge if you know anything about software updates on PS3 have been known to cause some users problems such as freezing consoles, non bootable consoles etc. same with apple updates. 3.1 brang in random shutdowns for some devices (mine included and it still does this, am i claiming i need compensation? no and i paid hundreds of dollars for this) just a little tip, this goes for every product not just appstore games and apps
I see what the betas are getting at here: blame the user for updating, blame apple for a buggy os, blame anyone except ms. Great.
We've considered all the platforms, and Minigore HD on the iPad actually uses Crystal as the social gaming platform. Now that Apple will introduce their own later this year, who knows what will happen. As for plus+, I like the system but since Chillingo & Crystal are in direct competition with ngmoco & plus+ I don't think that's a very likely scenario. I'm all for choice, though... I think it'd be fun even having a choice of social platform built into a menu when you launch it up for the first time, but I'm not even sure if this is technically possible right now.
"its always smart to either wait an hour or two to see if its safe before doing the update. its common knowledge if you know anything about software" @ playn How exactly are you supposed to know If the update has been out for 2 hours.? Also I happen to know a lot about software and I still downloaded this update. I assumed that the after waiting 3 months for the update, a major bug like this would not have slipped through (yes I know the beta's didn't get the final build).
I love this thread! it reminds me so much of the Minigore thread of old that turned into such a flame war (yes i participated) it was hilarious. Like this game or not it seems that it is the king of starting arguments. Somebody better warn Obama before he updates, gets pissed, and world war 3 breaks out...
That's the whole point. (and this post is not in response to your comment but to the whole thread) Compare Gameloft and Mountain Sheep. The idevice and the appstore which allows easy and frequent updating of software is what made it possible for dozens of small dev teams and individuals to create games for the platform. 2 lads with a computer in a shed on a mountain can start a project like Minigore without the financial backing, the technical resources and the human resources a "giant" like Gameloft has. Because an app can be updated over time and "grow" from a simple concept and refined update after update with more content, improvements to features and gameplay, small devs can launch their app and start earning (sometimes) enough money to continue working on their app. Creating Minigore in one go and completing it before putting it on the appstore would have been impossible for MS because they don't have the money to lock themselves up for a year or two, pay people to work for them and release when ready. There is NO way this can be done by small devs for a project of the scope and with the refinement of Minigore. The alternative, is having a company with the financial backing needed like Gameloft. Who churn out great games, mostly clones of existing games on other platforms and improvements to existing games. Good quality, but no scope for innovation because the financial risks are too great. MS are learning the whole iPhone developing and programing business as they go along. They don't have different projects to learn from as do small devs who make mini-game upon mini-game (look at the quality of the Imangi games e.g., small games but polished), they are (nearly?) exclusively working on Minigore on the iphone platform (before Qwiboo joined the team). They don't play it safe, used their own engine, and push every feature to get the best gaming experience. (At this stage into the game, look how much effort they put into the shadows and how the bullet casings cast a shadow that sharpens as the casings hit the ground. The update model for apps is very risky because of the way it is implemented. Devs can't know exactly how the app will behave until it's up. Even more risky if you are pushing just one project this far in terms of features and quality step by step But it is the only way to go if you don't have big financial resources. So this is the way it;s going to be. Go along with Minigore, wait for Hardgore, cheer for MS as they go along, give them feedback when things go wrong so that they can do their best to keep everyone happy. But stop moaning like a bunch of 5 year olds who can't understand the realities of making it happen. Or sit down and wait for gameloft to make a clone in a few years time when Minigore and Hardgore are finished. Sorry, rant over, will try my best to stay away from the forum in future.
No actual furries were harmed in the making of Minigore. All violence to furries is simulated, for entertainment purposes only. The red is ketchup... I think.
Not if you've already updated the game. But if you synced without backing up your iDevice, then yes, you could still get your saved game back from a backup restore.
