Phew. Have finally unlocked Expert mode. The game is now brilliant again. Shame I had to suffer to get it, but I'm just about ready to offer grudging forgiveness.
I hear you I can barely break 4000 this update is way harder esp. the big flaming furries! I love it though I was up playing it till 3AM and I had to be up at 7AM I am a fanboy for life this is one of three games I will only play on my 2G the rest are a non issue! Thanks Mountain Sheep!! DOWN WITH THE APP APP PROCESS!!
Oh the irony. Developers send their finished game to the publishes, publishers then test before releasing it to the public. Any respectable publishing company does this (Games, Books, Movies). It's clear now that this release did not go through any beta testings which is why I'm calling out Chillingo on it. And tell me why we shouldn't compare this game to any survival shooter game out there? My perspective is that the devs are getting a free pass on criticism here. "Oh it's okay, it's just a team of 3 guys." as if that warrants sloppy releases or something. I guess setting your standards so low warrants praise for this game.
Exactly, if Chillingo isn't testing the games it slaps it's name on, what's the point because Apple store is really publishing their game (which is why they have to give a kickback to apple on every copy sold).
Minigore - developer's perspective, part VI You know, you kind of have a point. The code problems are clearly ours for not having had a bigger beta test group until now, but it does also seem like Chillingo could benefit from having a bigger testing group of their own. We should probably chat with the guys about that. One of the issues in the test process is that when a build is made for Apple, the signature on it prevents you from actually installing and running that copy on a standard iPhone without changing the signature on it first. This is just how the process goes; it's a sealed package and to test it the signature must be changed to something else that you're actually allowed to install on your own device. We'll make sure this is taken care of as we work on future versions and will give Chillingo guys a heads up on this too. For those who are developers yourself or just curious, here's an article on this and the way to solve it with codesign: http://furbo.org/2008/11/12/the-final-test/ Quote from the article: > If you’ve submitted an application to the App Store, you know that sinking feeling of not being able > to test your final build. The binary that gets signed with the “App Store” distribution mechanism cannot > be run on your test devices: you can’t be sure that the final bits you send to Apple are complete.
That's the most crazy thing ever. You cannot test the final build. The one you send to apple. Who made that rule up!!!!!
THought many of you might find this interesting, if you haven't read it already... Minigore, iphone, multiplayer and psp minis according to Kimmo
If I had to guess, it'd be Apple, because they make all the rules. In all fairness, though, they want you to "seal and sign the package" to make sure nobody else gets to mess around with it either, but it helps create these surprisingly mystifying problems. For game consoles like PSP or Wii, developers usually have special versions of hardware that let you run "anything". In Apple's case, developers are able to use just normal iPhones for everything, which is great because we can just pick up more phones from a local shop when we need them. It's not so great when we don't have full access to what's going on inside the phone and we get problems like this. Luckily the workaround for it is quite simple once you figure this out - you just have to recognize the problem first and look beyond the official solution.
Yeah. Insane mode is great and perfect for short spurts. And I love that you can save/resume now just in case you are doing well (currently have a saved game at 8,032, my best yet and climbing)
I'm at 9300. The only thing I dont like about insane mode is that its quite hard to get into the proper movement pattern at the start and I often take a hit before 2-300 points. The shotgun is now definitely usefull in certain situations, but can get you killed if your not careful. It has more offensive power then the regular gun, but its certainly not a clear upgrade because of its defensive inferiority at picking off stray flaming furies, and taking a risk to get it is a bad idea. I now avoid clovers, since I find it very hard to get back into my rythm after using pig power.
I'm not giving them a pass because 'it's just a team of 3 guys', I'm giving them a pass because I paid $0.99 for this game. I know it is the standard in the app store, but I feel ridiculous complaining about a game that has given me so many hours of enjoyment when I only paid $0.99 for it. A dollar? Thats what I tip for a drink. It sucks that bugs keep popping up, but I appreciate that they really seem to care about the community that has grown around their game. That said, I love the new release, only thing that could make it better is if they steal meteor blitz's idea and have an option to pause when you remove your fingers. damn, I'm at work now, I should probably be doing my job shouldn't I.
-insane mode is hard at the start, i have no set pattern. i just go one way for a couple of seconds, then change directions and try to shoot my way out of the crowd and then start circling the level. if i can't make it out of the crowd without getting hit i just restart. makes alot of difference in your score if you can get by the beginning untouched. -the shotgun is critical once you're above 10,000. it's almost impossible to keep the fire furries back without it, there's just so many. -i use the clovers constantly. but when in beast mode, when it gets down to one clover, if i don't see anymore to refill it, i take off running in my normal circle pattern. that way when i turn back into john i have a slight lead and can just start shooting while i run away. BTW, woo f'ng hoo! finally broke the top 20 with 14,040. by that point they were almost all furries and crowds of them. just constantly moving and shooting and praying for shotguns and clovers.. loved it though, insane mode is awesome. and above 10,000 is really awesome. there should be a nightmare mode that starts at 14,000.
Since I dont think this guy can get the point here through his thick skull we should just ignore him.
My second try at insane mode left me at 5964 points; ohhhh I hated that. But I just tried harder and got finnaly unlocked it yesterday. ITS AWESOME.
hi everyone i recently updated minogore, the first time registerded to openfeint it recognised my username. After when i click on the openfeint button a message appears every time saying "unable to login.." what should i do?
Restart (press and hold the power and home button till your screen goes blank) your device In the app. If that doesnt work your only option is to redownload the game. Two important things you need to know: Do not hit the flip screen button in the options menu. Do not say no thanks the first time openfeint asks you to join. Hope that helped
