I like The artwork and The athmosphere... But i hate these controls! :-( Any chance to offer an alternative? Maybe something like Junk Jack?
Played 10 minutes and it ran GREAT on iPhone 4! Once there is iCloud support this will be very fun to pick up and play across devices. My question though is; randomly generated worlds, does this mean your mars is set for that game file? Anyway to randomize everything underground? I was a big fan of terraria simply because you could load up a randomly generated world, mine and destroy everything and head back to the main base. I completely understand the side of building and excavating and wanting to keep things permanent, I'm just wondering if there's a way to reset your underground back to square 1. Also loving the game! If you are hesitant, I would say take the chance. Easily worth $5, just skip Starbucks tomorrow and you can afford it
Running out of fuel shouldn't cut me immediately and take me back to the surface. What it I'm out of fuel, but I'm right next to the teleporter? I could reach it just walking. Besides that, I could kill some monsters to gain some fuel. The best thing would be a panic button to "call the rescue" if I give up. By the way, I killed that little robot on the surface and now I'm feeling remorse. Is there a way I can bring it back to life? I thought it was immortal
I shot my robot once accidentally and cringed when I saw 20 life deducted from it. Haven't done it since. But I remember the first time I killed a creature, I felt really terrible about it. I've never played a game that set the mood so well that it made me question a game act like that. Well done, dev!
That makes me cry a little and laugh both. I experience the exact same emotions! Even feeling protective of the critters, and wanting to shoot for a possible harvest of fuel.
Really enjoying the game so far, though I agree a map would be very useful. The only other thing is... It seems really weird to 'upgrade' my Iron Pickaxe to a Bronze one.
There's very little tutorial, basically movement, tells you to mine and tells you to refined your mined material on the surface. The story kicks in throughout with tid-bits, and you can also go read your journal for basic direction.
You murderer! Killing creatures and animals wasnt enough so you had to massacre an innocent bot? Repent! Repent!
Those robots are weird.. they say they'll help you but they don't do anything. The first was going to tell me enemy distance but his sentence always says <enemy> <distance> like a bugged placeholder. Then the other bot was going to tell me the location of minerals and every time I talk to him he gives me random conversation and nothing about minerals. I don't get it. And I love the game but I'm afraid to go down further and further because my memory isn't the best and I've often lost everything I made because I couldn't figure out how to get to the portal... grr.
I bought this game because I am a sucker for cool art and atmosphere - which this certainly has in spades. A few thoughts, which I have already seen mentioned in part: - The tutorial sucks, it is both nonexistent and bothersome at the same time. I suggest getting rid of it completely. - Having iOS popups 'in game' is a bad I idea. Just... No. - I don't have a problem with the ultra fine font but most people will. It makes the game feel like a PC port, which isn't a bad thing but the font is just crazy small. - Tutorial concerns aside, the way the game opens is just terrible. You are standing on the edge of a drop off with ZERO direction. Even when you drop down where the various buildings are, the UI style is haphazard and totally non intuitive. I walked past the teleported a dozen times before thinking of tapping on the spot, it should pulse as you get near it - other things do. This may all sound like negative complaining, but I am just giving the Dev my 'first impressions'. When an app carries a premium price tag it is worrisome to encounter clunky introduction to game mechanics from the opening shot.
They will mix it up with conversation. Keep asking him until you get him talking about what you want to hear. The enemy thing is part of the first update. One strategy is to dig straight tunnels down, with offshoots every 10 to 15 blocks. Then always wander back to the tunnel and go straight up or down.
