I met a bot underground which I can't "talk to". I don't know who it is, but is not Yellow, Blue or Violett (I guess those are the colors). Is this a bug? Is it mad at me because I killed the robot on the surface? Oh my God, is it the ghost of the robot I killed? And one thing I didn't really like about the game is the tutorial on the beginning using those pop up messages. It makes me feel I'm playing a beta version. Couldn't it be done using those "phone calls" or just text?
That's a great idea actually! We'll do that. There are quite a few robots underground. If you hadn't killed the surface one, he would have told you
Just bought the deepest portal. It just takes me to 500m depths a slightly different site than the first portal, with the already cleared first dungeon nearby. Seems like a bug to me... Anyone else experiencing this? Also @story guy: not really. There are some fun texts to read for some info, or funny dialogue, but there isnt really any big story being told.
Gahhh just been burned big time by the hang up button being in exactly the same place as the answer button after you've answered. Late game spoilers... Spoiler Just beat what I -think- was the final 'dungeon' boss and one of the aliens said something to me which I completely missed. I thought I hadn't answered when in fact I had, the game was just being a little slow. So I answered and instantly hung up... A door opened in the next room which I went through before my entire body turned into nothing but a blue outline, I was transported to the surface and now there are things that look like ghosts floating about up there and I don't seem to be affected by gravity. No idea what just happened and no idea if there's any more game left. Bit annoyed that I put so much time into the game to have it kinda ruined by a user interface problem. That said, I've very much enjoyed the game up until now. I just really hope they move the user interface about a bit.
When I stand over a first launcher's projectile the explosion causes me a little damage, but the number shown is huge: http://i.imgur.com/nGt0Ze8.png
This is GOTY so far for me. What a great game: the story seems light at first, but there's a strong feeling of "unraveling" as you go deeper into the mines. I won't spoil anything, but it is far more than what initially meets the eye ("a space miner stranded on Mars searching for treasure..."). The pacing is outstanding. I remember playing Super Metroid as a kid and thinking that it was initially a bit slow, but once you got certain upgrades, the world started to open up quickly. MoM has a similar feel---the pace of the game is predicated on the speed of your pickaxe, so once you get to the Rhodite Drill, things really start to fly, and this is when it gets more interesting: do you upgrade your storage so you can mine more per run? Do you upgrade your jetpack so you can surface more quickly and not run out of fuel right after spending half an hour on an epic dig (and whoa is it fun to fly around with that thing)? Or do you upgrade your armor so you can take a break from mining and go after bosses instead in order to push the story further? This amount of strategizing about your next move is greatly rewarding and gives me a great sense of ownership over the progression. Atmospherically, I've said this earlier in the thread, but this game sets the tone so damn well that the first time I killed a creature, I actually felt remorseful. After the warning (won't say anything more), I made a subconscious decision not to kill the harmless critters even though I have no idea if there are any bad consequences--since when did a game make you question your ethics or separate killing for survival from killing for pure sport? So the atmosphere and tone of this game are just amazing. The controls are fine. They're not perfect, and they sometimes don't register (e.g., when trying to move in a direction), but it has yet to get in the way of me enjoying the game, and it's not bad enough to dock it even a half-star. My only complaint is that I have no idea what the souls I collect from dead creatures is for, or if the cup in my inventory (of what looks like creature guts) is related to those souls or anything, really. But this game has bought my trust so well that I sort of chalk it up to a story element that has not yet been revealed to me. I trust the game, which says a lot. By the way, here's a tip: when mining downwards, center yourself right in between two rocks so that when you pick at the rocks beneath you, you'll end up picking two sort of at the same time. This works especially well with the drills. Game of The Year.
Does no one else think the movement controls are awful? I'm trying and failing to get used to getting around, and the shooting controls nearly got me killed before I figured out it was auto-fire while held. Still shows promise so far though...
WickeyWare, there any chance you could PM me regarding my last post on the previous page... As in, Am I at the end of the game, what was the last bit of dialog I missed? Thanks in advance!
They don't appreciate... Like we say in french :"Il en faut pour tous les goƻts". Personally i like it so much!
