Anyone else having this problem? The game runs fine for me performance-wise but this message keeps popping up, blocking my view. I turned down graphical settings but it still happens. I basically want a way to mute the chat/messages.
And my kids too lol, It was her sports day today and her team won two trophies, she came home to find that I'd updated her game and smiled and said "now I'm a real winner" She playing now and keeps commentating on every new thing lol.
Quality quote. Yep, my eldest is just back and updated his device. He'll probably read this later so I won't embarrass him, but when both my boys start talking minecraft it's like a different language. I was going to say I suppose it's keeps them off the streets but then it's actually me that keeps them off the streets!
Definitely some graphical glitches and performance issues on iPhone 5s. Loving the new update though, it has brought a lot of awesome additions, keep it up
I actually woke up my oldest son before I left for work this morning to tell him the update was out. Finally, Minecraft is close enough to the pc version that I can play it more seriously... though I still have fond memories of the early days where it was just zombies. That was kind of fun not having all the other mobs to deal with.
Are you using a device with 512mb of ram or less ? I have the same issue, on an iPod touch 5G. Maybe 512mb of memory are not enough to run infinite worlds ? My infinite world file save is smaller than my previous small world though, and the warnings only come up after a few minutes, not immediately. So maybe it is a memory leak... Anybody else having this memory warnings issue ?
I'm running this on a 4S with iOS6. Played about 30 min. Not a single problem on my end. No performance lags, lack of memory, or other issues. And I was swamped with mobs on my first night in my new save. Granted, I didn't try to walk the earth yet looking for stuff. Just did the usual first day and second day stuff of gathering wood, building a safe house, finding food, and landscaping so I can setup a fence and start building my homebase compound before going mining.
Why don't you guys report this mojang? And not here maybe since the devs don't even look at this thread!
It's the usual non optimisation for A7 devices. Lazy devs and this kind of stuff. I also play survival craft which has also infinite worlds but in addition to that some crazy electronics which arent even available in PE and it runs smooth as butter. Cant imagine how bad the framerate will drop if they actually add redstone mechanics lol. This needs definitely a performance update. I mean, the A8 will have the same kind of GPU architecture like the A7 so it will be nearly the same except raw hardware power which will likely be better.
I am having the "running out of memory problem" too. I deleted most memory on my 8gb iPod touch 4 but it still crashes a ton. Luckily you can still use the classic finite worlds, and that might improve performance, but with all of the new biomes and caves and structures added, playing with finite worlds ruins the experience. You should be able to set the size of the world in the world creator options, or something like that. Edit: I wonder if the fact that I am still running in ios6 has anything to do with this.
You can't delete memory. Memory is not the same as storage space. Maybe try a hard reset of the device if closing all the running apps doesn't help. Also you could turn off wifi and make sure there aren't many apps phoning home through notifications. All of those things affect memory availability. Survivalcraft is great. Electronics, riding animals, real animals ... the fear of being hunted... overall I love the game. Still, it's good to have minecraft pe close to where the pc version was when I started playing it.
Same her. Daughter was playing on an iPad 2 for all of 5 minutes before that happened. I get there are graphical restrictions, but how this passed QA at a company that literally craps money by the second is beyond me. I'm glad it's getting closer, but maybe we were asking too much. I just wish it allowed for variations in hardware. I'll send a support request as well. That said, my daughter hasn't run into this issue on the mini, running a bunch of stuff in the game. Could be that the iPad 2's lack of memory and lack of restarting before I ran it, clearly it takes more than running it straight gets me.
All I had to do was turn down the draw distance on my iPod 5 fixed it all except sometimes I had to restart after traveling long distances
Thank you very much for the suggestion ! I played a bit with draw distance down to the second level, and I did not see memory warnings on iPod 5G (I didn t play long though). I have now come accross a segfault crash every time I try to remove wood from the furnace. I remember there had been furnace related issues before. I will try to open a support request to Mojang later (never done that before).
My daughter played for a good few hours on her ipad 2 which is also on ios6 last night and didn't have any problems.
After playing several hours of the update on my 4S with ios6. I have had the game completely crash three times and all were while taking something out of the furnace. So I think there is a furnace bug in there. After restarting the game I was able to still use the furnace normally without a crash so I think in the short term I'm going to quit the game and reload the save before doing any major cooking/smelting just to give myself the best chance possible of it not crashing. Overall though the update is fantastic. I started another save last night and put it on easy survival just to roam the land and find caves and stuff and it went really well. I also tried the game on my son's ipod 4 system and it ran ok except when it was loading in new chunks (areas). It would sort of pause for a half second or so while the new area opened. And that was with every feature turned off and the draw distance set as short as possible. Still, it was playable.
No problems with Minecraft PE 0.9.0 on iPod 5 apart from the fact that I can't find any Endermen or NPC Villages.
