Don't know if anyone else has seen this, but my mind=blown. http://www.pocketgamer.co.uk/r/Various/Minecraft/news.asp?c=27701
Cue a flood of hot, molten iPhone juicings. My Macbook can't even run that thing without scorching the desk. I'd love the chance to finally get to play it but I worry how much strain it's gonna put my expensive gadgets under.
I wonder if it will be possible to load worlds that have been created on the PC. The controls might be a bit fiddly, but I'm still looking forward to it.
Well they mention that "the iOS title won't benefit from the same updates as the home computer version," so it's entirely possible/probable that we're getting a watered-down version. Just as long as survival mode is kept intact, I couldn't be happier.
Yeah, but I wonder how much of that horsepower is needed because of Java. What possessed Notch to code it in Java?
http://forums.toucharcade.com/showthread.php?t=67484&highlight=minecraft&page=5 Oh yes. Well it's finally beta and Mojang's kept their promise (from 2009)
I get paranoid way too easily about overheating. I think Macbooks shut down at 110 degrees or something, but I'm used to it being around 40 so even if it enters the 50s I'm suddenly wondering why it's being pushed. So tell me... for a bottom-of-the-range, regular ol' Macbook, using smcFanControl to speed the fan up to 4000 RPM... is 65-70 degrees alright for playing Minecraft at? That seems to be where it stops so if I can convince myself not to worry I might be able to get into the game at last.
Just a guess. Though they might have thought to do it if people were trying to clone it. Iphone/ ipod is a pretty big platform. Might've just thought to do it because minecrafted was pretty good while it was briefly out. Just a guess though
Depends on if they have settings like they do in the desktop version like; rendering distance and and fast/fancy graphics.
