Being able to hold a coffee in one hand, & play a great game with the other is always a nice option to have IMO
I too tend to only by games if portrait is available. I play most my games when commuting on busy trains and one hand is always needed to hold on!
Holy cats, I just realized you are the developer of Axes and Acres, which I've heard great things about. That settles it. Bought. Hope this game does great for you and you decide it is worth it to bring the others over.
Can't get with this I tried, but I find it too abstract and minimal to be compelling... or... fun. Unlike Hoplite, where the rules are straight forward and the presentation makes it intuitive to play, this game feels like a mystery I don't wanna solve. After playing for an hour, I'm still confused about some piece rules/behavior, and the spartan presentation offers no clues. Stuff like turn limits make it feel more like a puzzle game than an abstract conflict. Also, I'm glad to pay double digits for good ios games, but this is pretty pricey for what it is.
@Oscar Thanks for giving it a shot! Did you find the '?' menu in the bottom right hand corner of the screen? It gives a brief overview of the units and how they move. If that doesn't do the trick, I recommend giving this video a shot (it's a quick one, just 6 minutes) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y8mSTAL2aWk Hope that helps!
@Misguided Thanks for the support, man! @everybody Noted about portrait/landscape mode options! I had no idea this was a sticking point for so many!
I enjoyed this for PC, but this is a game that's really made for iOS. I'm having a ton of fun all over again! Really hoping BrainGoodGames decides to port their other games. That said, I agree with other posts that this could really use a portrait mode.
One more thing: 180 degree rotation is also implemented in most iPad games. It becomes important for various reasons like using a Smart Cover or when charging.
Okay, good to know. That sounds a lot harder, but I'll look into it as I explore options for portrait orientation.
*scratches chin* hmmmmmmmm! Are there developer-side discounts on the AppStore even? Having trouble finding it in the interface...
Portrait Mode Wahoo!! Portrait mode/auto rotation is live! Let me know if you have feedback (email is braingoodgames (at) gmail.com)! Enjoy . I also fixed a wake-from-sleep crash on newer versions of iOS and some other small things. http://blog.braingoodgames.com/2017/03/29/militia-ios-portrait-auto-rotation/
