It's very satisfying getting the jumps and slides perfectly timed just to shave a few hundredths of a second off the time. Very pure and addictive gameplay that works very well. You can tell the devs put a lot of love into this. The levels are very well designed for the purpose of getting better times. I've only done the first four levels but I just keep going back to level 1 to get a better time. And it never feels dull by replaying the same level over and over again. By far the best speed run game of all time and it works on a very casual experience to boot, so it should appeal to casual players. Do yourself a favour and buy the game. It's well worth 99c and really should be sold at a higher price!
Wow, thank you all so much for the great comments here! They mean a lot to us. We are glad that you are all enjoying the game so much. @Gabrien: your game impression completely blew me away! I've always read your game impressions, and I know you are an honest and tough critic. In fact, during development, I would occasionally think to myself "What will Gabrien think of our game?". I'm not kidding! But you summed up Mikey Shorts exactly as we set out to make it, so we are thrilled that we've accomplished our vision -- and we know this given everyone's reaction to the game.
Ha Ha! I'm number one on the leaderboards for level 1 with a time of 27.22. My work productivity is non existent today
Oh, I forgot to comment on this part -- we really made a huge effort to create a game that is accessible to every age. We've had many young kids play the game during beta testing, and they all have loved it. In fact, my 3.5 year old absolutely loves playing Mikey Shorts. He is playing it right now! Haha! That is what we like to hear! And congrats on taking the #1 spot on 1-1.
I need to get some work done but I just keep playing this game! And I cannot stop playing, man this game is addictive!
Downloading now after having read through this thread. I especially like the idea that the game appeals to players with different abilities. My daughter loves to play some of the games she sees me playing, but at only 7 years old she obviously often gets frustrated with the difficulty. Nice to hear that I can play through for better times (higher difficulty) and she can just have fun collecting coins (much more casual).
